My wheel came 3 days before bathurst and I think I did ok with it ;)
You did really well mate and I'm glad that you're enjoying it. đź‘Ť I would say that you're probably better with the wheel, because you maybe struggled with the pad.....

....My dad wouldn't be able to drive with a controller, but I'm sure that he'd be at home on the wheel, whereas my nephew would no doubt be better with a pad. Basically it's what feels most comfortable and natural.

Stig, don't try to follow my driving line/style, I'm having a tough time with this car and it takes some driving. Quade's explanation was very good though, trail braking is something which 'can' help with the right setup and loads of practice. It's not easy to master though.

Usually I would get my braking done before turning in.

One more thing I've noticed, the type of tyre used makes a difference to the wheel/pad debate. Personally I'm no faster with the wheel when on Sports tyres or less, however with Racing tyres the wheel really does excel for me.

Yeah, it's not something that works for every corner, car or driver. But sometimes you can be quicker with trail braking. The first time I tried was actually in a kart in real life and I found that it instantly improved my lap time. Before that I had never done it in game nor in real life. Since then I've implemented it on occasion in game. Seems to work best in more lightweight cars. But for the most part I stick with braking in a straight line, letting off the brake and then turning in.

This is usually the safer option, much more reliable. đź‘Ť Getting trail braking wrong can cost considerable time, missing an apex is easily done. Off the brakes and then turning in is the standard, master this before trying to trail brake.

There are techniques for corner exit too which can help, but mastering the basics is vital before trying different ideas.

Thank you Ian and quade420 for the really useful advice, I will stick to and work on perfecting my standard procedure of cornering for now, then take crazy risks and go into a zone where I don't belong yet or don't know much about,

I just knew all this time that were was something vital that I was missing out on, that others did and I had a gap in my knowledge, so it was really bothering me, I thought trail braking was only for FR cars lol

I used to have a wheel for gt4, it didn't take me very long to get used to it however it was cheap and it broke. I still used it but i had to hold it 60-degrees to the left to go in a straight line which was tricky and unreliable but i was still faster with it then with my DS2 and unlike with my DS2 i span out alot if i got a tank slapper, it was harder to control,

more freedom/control = faster laps > easier to drive with/control = slower laps

OK. The real and low have different times.... Now I see...

As do running offline and online - offline tends to be a lot faster. It's always better to test online.

Make sure the tyre wear is on the right setting as well. It's set to 'Normal' for this series.

I practice on offline Mode using the Arcade. I prepared my car for that. (has 310 cv, in Portugal and 1420 kg with SS tyres)

Then you're practicing in the wrong place if you want to know what times your car can really do.

Practice online. Create your own lounge and run there.

Anyone checked their car's power when testing in online rooms? There's grumblings about the power limiter over in the GT6 section.

I'm bad round motegi east, it seems to need a good flow on track.
I'm learning from wheel vs pad chat.
Yes the pedals work on the g27 wheel, but there no real feel to them.
I've found out half braking on the brake stops the car quicker at times than full brake.

First bend at motegi I was using the 100 meters maker for full braking.
But if I'm spot on I can brake at 80 meters and turn in good on the wheel.

It's real close to losing it and in the race I not be doing this, it will be first turn 100 meters.
Still learning the wheel and pedals but I was a little shock testing some thing told in this room.

Well hints really and in testing half the brake stops the twice as quick than full braking.

I now trying to learn my lines but not bring the car to a full stop in braking.
I know really over braking and hitting the throttle to much.
I am happy not to see this track in the btcc-8 list, it's a brake and blast off sort of track.

Anyways I still in the mid 31s no joke, I'm really getting pee off here.

@rolo912011 just to let you know I can't make the next round. Iv got a wedding to atend.
Sadly I think this will take me out of the championship running what with last weeks DNS, even with the dropscore. :(:(:(
This season wasn't ment to be for me, but it's my first one so can only get better đź‘Ť

OK cheers for letting me know.

You say that but... after two drop scores now currently...

1. xflow1390 - 114
2. PleaseD1e - 105
3. qrtintheshade - 103
4. skengdigi - 93
5. rolo912011 - 92

Obviously this is before Motegi... so it's up to us to see if we can pass!

Why does my car's bhp keep decreasing every time i go on gt6... are you or anyone else having this strange issue?
