I'm looking into running the 'Time Trial' feature as the Pre-Qualifying session instead of a proper Qualifier. This would remove the need to start a pointless race and save on delays.

I have a lounge open now if anyone is willing to come in and help me test this out.

just logged on again , sorry i missed you

each time i tested the hyundai i disliked it, but i thought a good tune would sort it out. Nope. so i may be blowing up that car and bring back our old friend ;)
Am working on review. Will create thread and i'll post it there, will also do race reviews for BTCC-8 bit of fun

One does not simply make small steering adjustments in the Nissan.

There's so much play in the steering it's unbelievable lol, I imagine it's harder for wheel users (I use a pad).

i get a bit of play in Nissan on pad, on friends wheel it seems to just be unresponsive fullstop,we couldn't figure it out.

Ok thanks, glad it's not just me. Rules out the nissan for me though. Not sure the Peugeot is gonna be quick enough either, but I'll see how it gets on in the pre-season races! Any idea on which track will be used for the first pre-season race?

Seems like a good idea, so it would basically be a quali session? I'd say it would need to be a bit longer than the usual pre-q q if there was no race, but it would still save a lot of time and hassle.

BTCC related, look what car is featured in the new rFactor 2 demo

I think it's the first official current generation BTCC car in a game since ToCA 2 in 1998.

I remember playing some ToCA game on ps1, Honda accord, crashed it every corner <3

PUG is one hell of a machine in the right hands (not mine)

That Alfa is mighty fast Mr B...it will be good to be duelling with you guys again... Especially after that insane overtake I did on you and Ian on turn 1... It's gotten me fired up for this season
Alfa may be fast, but by gosh those Meganes Tear up the straight, I feel like a cruise liner vs bloodhound ssc

Right, so after discussion let me clarify the deal as it stands (subject to further discussions)...

You will get 1 championship point for BTCC-8 for each pre-season race that you complete. I'll be fair to DC'ers in pre-season and award the point if they complete at least half of the race distance. Rage quitters get no points. These points are awarded before the season proper begins and therefore they cannot be dropped.

Only the first 16 drivers to enter the lounge will be allowed to race. Too late? Too bad.

There will be 9 pre-season races, over 3 weeks. 3 races a week.

    • Indy Road Course (12 Laps, Pit 5 - 9)
    • Apricot Hill (TBA Laps & Pit Window)
  • 8th May:
    • Grand Valley Speedway (10 Laps, Pit 3 - 7)
    • Willow: Big Willow (15 Laps, Pit 6 - 10)
    • Brands Hatch Indy (25 Laps, Pit 10 - 17)
  • 15th May:
    • Silverstone International (17 Laps, Pit 7 - 11)
    • Nurburgring GP/D (13 Laps, Pit 5 - 9)
    • Nurburgring Nordschleife (3 Laps, Pit 1 or 2)
Race results are not important. You will only get one point for participating to a sufficient level. Therefore there will be no qualifying - grids will be random. There will be 10-minutes practice (or more in the case of Nurb) for each track to acclimatise.
  • Usual driving standards are expected, so stay clean please. No stewarding or penalties pre-season, but use your common sense.
Car selection and Tuning.

Drive what you like from the car list. Change it up as much as you want, but run every car to its correct spec (unless asked otherwise). However, it is recommended that all cars are fairly represented in pre-season to help car development. If a car hasn't been run much, it's a good idea to run it.

Please do not run massively tuned-up cars. Minimal tuning is acceptable, but please try to keep it simple for now. If you can gain time with more tuning, then that will be obvious anyway without having to actually do it yet.

@lozzaiscool here is all of the pre-season information you need. 👍

Yeah, it just saves the need for a race to kick off once done. That said, I need to know how it works properly before I can rely on it. I'll trial it Thursday at 6.45 to see what's what.

7 minutes should be fine everywhere. May increase to 8.
