I've just read this on the autosport forum, so I thought those of you in America might like the heads-up:

Speed is running double-headers of DTM and BTCC starting this Saturday December 5th and running through Saturday January 30th, with a break at Christmas. Check local listings, crack open a cold one and enjoy!

Not really a discussion topic. Just giving everyone in the US an FYI that from the TV Guide it looks like the 2009 F1 races will be rerun on SpeedTV over the winter. Australian GP is being broadcast on Monday (10:30am MST) and the Malaysian GP is exactly a week later. Hopefully they plan to show all of them again. First time they've done this. I missed the first two races of the 2009 season.

Formula 1 may not be your thing, but I definitely recommend the BTCC if any of you haven't experienced it. This year was a special one, especially the end so a good place to start.
I unfortunately never get to see much DTM so I can't comment on this season, but it certainly should be good.

Just for those that comment from time to time they wish they could watch these races. :)

Thanks for that bit of news Ardius! Looks like we're getting more than just hour long season reviews this year, which is great! Merry Christmas to us!!!

:Sets DVR to record: :D!

Edit: For Saturday, it looks like an hour long review for Hockenheim 12:00pm-1:00pm, followed by BTCC. Also, Jetta TDI cup from 5:00-7:00 on Sunday!

Don't you mean BTCC, DTM, and the V8 Supercar Series? Let me tell you something. While it's not that I'm so much about American motorsport (and with all due respect) there's great racing outside of the U.S. as well. That's why I'm always loving seeing action from the BTCC, DTM, and V8 Supercars.

The British Touring Car Championship is every bit as entertaining and exciting as NASCAR. I still remember watching this episode of Top Gear which celebrated some 50+ years of BTCC racing... and mostly showing crashes. * DTM is always fun to watch as I love seeing those cars race. * And the Australian V8 Supercars? Don't even get me started. I CAN NOT wait to see how the 2009 season plays out aside from seeing race reports and YouTube videos from (another message board).

Can't wait to see the action! I think I'll have to head out on the icy/snowy roads of Houston this weekend, so I may miss out on seeing the BTCC action.

Already saw the Hockenheim DTM race and it was exciting, lot of action and a huge surprise on the last lap. It already looks like its a awesome season.

Indeed it does, Schumachers car looked good as new once they kicked the roof back out! You'd think there would be a roll bar there, what a smash! I do have one thing to say, for being V8's they sure don't sound much like them, or rather, they don't sound like V8's I'm used to hearing, well the Merc's do more than the Audi's but eh, small details, I'm still happy. 👍

Yeah, I would of thought that would've ended any chance at a good run since the roof was caved in, but it was amazing to see that all they did was kick it out and voila, like nothing ever happened. Certainly showed me the roof on a DTM is far more flexible then I imagined.

Both were good races, hopefully speed picks up on more European Racing, I have never seen either one of these series before today, and now I will watch every race I find, hopefully we get the races live this season.

I agree they should show more of these series, however I think we're just getting this stuff during the NASCAR off-season. Once February rolls around, be prepared to watch NASCAR channel again.

I was just wondering, do you get US commentary or do you just get the British ITV commentary (for BTCC, don't even know if there is english commentary available live for DTM).
The ITV commentary of Ben Edwards and Tim Harvey is one of the best. 👍 Almost as good as Ben Edwards and John Watson or Charlie Cox and John Watson.

I think it is ITV for BTCC, but I'm not sure about DTM as I reconize Andrew Marriot usually calling the races.

They are both usually great series, I have yet to see one race from either that isn't entertaining or exciting.

Without a doubt, and it's sad, because we get so much pointless Nascar based programmed jammed down our throats. I can understand the build up to Speedweeks in February, but really who watches that stuff anyways? I stay up all hours of the night, or get up early for F1, I'd do the same for Supercars or DTM. I wish we had a MAJOR national touring car series that could gain a following as large as Nascar. I guess I'll take what I can get, I was starting to have motorsport withdraws, so this is helping ease the pain. BTW, I'm a Nascar fan, not trying to bash it, just saying relax on the programming.

Okay, people... I'm sorry. Speed is re-airing the Australian Grand Prix right now. So I'm sorry for my earlier comment.

More TDI cup to come this Sunday!

Just to update.

DTM @ Laustiz = Saturday 12-1pm EST
BTCC = Saturday 1pm-2pm EST
V8 Supercars @ Sydney = 1pm-3pm EST Sunday on Speed.
F1 Malaysian GP = Monday 12pm EST

I saw the BTCC action at Brands Hatch last night and most of the DTM around the boring Hockenheimring (as in the Tilke f:censored:ed-up version). I'll be sure to catch as much action as I can. This is the best time of year if you got Speed Channel.

Bit off topic, but I'm going to apply for a us greencard in the next year or so. Due to my qualifications, it looks like I'm going to be approved. I'm willing to pay extra to get F1 coverage. Are there any channels that broadcast full qualifying and races (and also preferably practice sessions) in the us? Hopefully live?

Like i said, I don't mind paying, just asking out of interest... I realise that speed tv does show f1, I'm just not sure whether it's highlights or full coverage.

They air the whole race(iirc both live and a re-broadcast later in the day when the race is in the early morning). Not sure if they do the qualifying or not.

They do the second round of practice with a few minutes of time delay, all of qualifying, and the race live. With the exception of 3-4 races mid season that FOX ends up having to show, due to some agreement with FOM I believe. They are only delayed until the afternoon. We actually have great F1 coverage, considering they have not turned a lap on our soil in years, and the odd hours of the live races.

Well you can thank Bernie Eccleston for the schedule.

You have montreal next year, so at least it's back in north america...

True, I'd like to see them in the States though, preferably in the middle of the States at least. I want to see an F1 race like, but not seel off any organs or appendages in order to do so.
