Amateur footage has been released and its just disturbing :(
Just watched a cuple of clips on youtube. Horrific accident, probably could have been avoided too by the sounds of it, a safety car would have been a pretty good idea considering the circumstances.

Hopefully he recovers fully from this, only time will tell I guess and in the meantime we have to hope that the doctors and surgens give him every bit of care that they possibly can.

Oddly enough, (this will sound terrible but it isn't intended) the accident could have been so much worse. He could have hit the marshall, or hit the centre of the JCB rather than the rear. Hitting the rear was horrible, but hit the centre and it wouldn't have moved, it'd be like a brick wall.

The FIA have got a lot to learn from this incident and I imagine that the enquiry will be huge.

The FIA are getting a battering from the media apparently, like there's so many questions...

1) Why wasn't the safety car deployed immediately, it is supposed to when a non-racing vehicle enters the track limits.

2) Why were green flags being waved (don't say they were at the first Degna because they were but at that corner they were being waved as Bianchi came round the corner)?

3) Why wasn't the race start time brought forward due to the extreme weather they could've encountered?

More questions, but I can't remember lol

Yeah, it was a stupendous accident, like you said, what if he had hit the middle of the recovery vehicle?... :indiff:...

Also, what if the recovery vehicle wasn't there to retrieve Sutil's car? Would Bianchi of even slid off the circuit? Would he of caused marshal casualties?

The FIA and stewards cannot just rest this as a 'racing incident', it's too serious...

Seriously though, I really wish he'll be okay :( especially after a diffuse axonal injury :guilty:

this just doesn't make things any better... :(

"Diffuse axonal injury (DAI) is a brain injury in which damage in the form of extensive lesions in white matter tracts occurs over a widespread area. DAI is one of the most common and devastating types of traumatic brain injury,[1] and is a major cause of unconsciousness and persistent vegetative state after head trauma.[2] It occurs in about half of all cases of severe head trauma.

The outcome is frequently coma, with over 90% of patients with severe DAI never regaining consciousness.[2] Those who do wake up often remain significantly impaired.[3]

DAI can occur in every degree of severity from very mild or moderate to very severe.[4][5] Concussion may be a milder type of diffuse axonal injury.[6]"

It could mean you miss races or fail to finish races, that's for sure.

Race 1 qualifying starts at 7.10pm latest in the event of disconnections, and if it keeps happening we'll just have to go.

^^👍 We do try and make some allowances, but we do have to start at some point, not everyone can race late due to other commitments.

I'm opening a lobby soon.

I'm working tonight, finish 12 hour shift at 06:30.
My plan for tomorrow get home hit the sack and be online testing by 13:00 hours, maybe sooner maybe later lol

Some great practice races tonight. 👍

283bhp isn't impossible, but without draft it's a nightmare. It should be good fun seeing how it works tomorrow with a larger field of drivers.

With 289hp, and that long straight, I'm going to need a lot of draft from someone at full power to try and keep up in Race 1.

1.45.8 happened in last night's test, but 45.3 in draft.

I reckon aim for 46s karsten.
A 45.2 @283bhp in Dusty's draft. We should see a 44 with multiple cars to draft behind during the lap.

Otherwise a high 45 or low 46 without draft. Mid 46 with 283bhp, soon a high 46 with tyre wear.

I love Fuji. :) I'm not fast, but I just enjoy the track, it feels like a really nice circuit and the final sector is a lovely combo of turns that are tricky to perfect.

@Ian_83 I have literally just realised why I was so slow on the straights... I was running 283hp LOL after winning (well... crossing the line first) race 2 at CR lol.

An update is available. ;)

It's only a tiny one, takes a few seconds to download in-game.

The notes say that the force feeback has been adjusted for the following:
Formula Gran Turismo
Lotus 97T '85
Red Bull X2010/11/14 (not Junior)
All racing karts

Fingers crossed, the BTCC is unaffected by this update.

@CptMadBean has a test room open. ;)

I seem to be slower today, it's probably just me, but it does make me wonder whether the update has done something else.
