I'm curious how many Dior Mangustas were 'sold' in the game. I never bought one because I find it insulting to be treated like the product to strike marketing deals rather than the customer. I will never buy either of these cars that have nothing to do with anything aside from PD using its userbase to sell ads for companies not even related to cars. They might as well just have a McDonald's VGT, or would that be too obvious that we are the product?

It's a shame Sony is so desperate for money.
Fan favorites vs Sony's bank account.

Them adding the VGTs in do not take a slot from any future cars, i'd love to see the GT-ONE return aswell but I also welcome any other cars even ones that I may not enjoy myself. This collab is pretty unique so i'm curious to see how it looks, would be hilarious to get a VGT from a food franchise like a McDonalds VGT.

You know what, I kinda like this one. I wonder if elements of Bulgari's Octo Finissimo line of watches will make it into this design. They are genuinely impressive timepieces.

Well, you called it un July 2022 in the Dior thread:
"And who can forget the hotly anticipated Macy's Christmas car collection featuring storied motorsport powerhouses like Tiffany & Co., Gucci, and Louis Vuitton." Spooky

Looks like that X-mas update will bring a bunch of VGT cars nobody was asking for.
Not necessarily, there have beem VGT that took some months to get into the game after the announcement (Lamborghini, Zagato, Jaguar, Bugatti) even the Ferrari VGT was added a month after the official reveal

Weird. I pass by a Bvlgari building in the NYC area all the time riding to and from airports. Based on my search it must not be an official facility anymore but the sign is still there visible right next to the highway. I thought it was interesting that that's the only thing I've seen relevant to that company in years, and now this GT tie-in.

People have been complaining about a possible Genesis VGT in December and it turned out to be Bvlgari lmao
Even better, it's both!

Oh damn we're getting both? If it's a 3 car update for December and 2 of them are VGTs then it's gonna be hilarious lol

While I don't think I'd care much for Bvlgari, I'm interested in Genesis VGT.

It's not like they've ever added a random car with a non car related fashion brand before...

Oh wait...

I wish we had the GT-One in 2003 instead of that...

Plus the Nike One IS a fan favourite.
What's to say this new VGT won't be a fan favourite in 2043? Especially if it looks like a 70s F1 racer and handles well.

Sorry for the sarcasm but they were also quite capable of including BOTH cars in 2003... as they are in 2023.

And they have literally been adding cars JUST LIKE THIS for TWENTY years. The way this thread reads, it's like this is something that's never happened before.

But by all means you don't have to be happy about it. I just struggle to understand where the "surprise" comes from as portrayed in this thread.

Personally I don't care what it's called, I just want to know how it handles. And the specs. Many of the VGTs handle like crap (although some are better in GT7 than before).

To be honest, I feel that citing the NIKE One as a “fan favorite” and using it as justification for this kind of misses important context. Yes, GT4 had concept cars and a lot of them - however, most were vehicles and designs that had a big impact on automotive history. And instead of using them as marketing - PD was documenting their significance. Let alone the fact that GT4 had an abundance of content unrelated to concept vehicles and hundreds of hours of gameplay (and the NIKE wouldn’t be shoehorned into random races.) The NIKE became famous mostly due to the fact that it was such an anomaly. A silly bonus to an already incredible game so to speak.

I don't really understand why a non-car manufacturer would even be interested in making a car for this game. It's nothing more than a a pointless design exercise, just like that Nike thing. There, I said it.

I can see it now . . .

Dooney & Bourke Miata
Lancer Evolution X by Gloria Vanderbilt
RCZ by Ooo . . . la-la . . . SASOON.
Mustang GT Jordache Edition.
McLaren MP12-C 7-11

Ok, I'll see myself out . . .
Viper: 90’s Hooters edition

Vette: Team Redkin

Super Beattle: Golden Midget, Warhol edition

Bmw: Team Tidy Whitey

I think this is a very narrow view.

GT is a hardware mover, just because some people are butt-hurt and entitled about the game's price, doesn't mean you're looking at a demographic bereft of disposable wedge - If you're spending £500 on a console, £500 on a wheel, £200 on a rig, to go with your £1000 TV, or maybe your £500 VR system, there's a good chance you have disposable income in the Bulgari price bracket. A family ticket to a Grand Prix or similar is thousands, go to Goodwood, or Le Mans, look at the brands people are wearing, look at the people retailing there - these aren't budget events for people who only buy budget brands.

I've only been into a Bulgari once, unsurprisingly because my girlfriend was attracted to the shiny things in the window, but if I didn't know much about the brand, and needed a present for a girlfriend that liked shiny things - there's worse times to be dropping a cross promotion in the game I play the most (using hardware that cost me £1000's), than the month before Christmas.
I agree with everything you are saying. This is a smart move for the advertiser and the promoter, but it’s nothing to celebrate for what it means for GT. I’m looking forward to seeing yacht promotions next and sponsorship by premium golf and tennis brands.

I have it on good authority that PD had this actual discussion:

“Let’s give the people a banging update and let them make money.”

“Nah, screw that. Let’s keep the economy **** and ram VGT garbage down their throats.”

I think i've been going about my car wishlist all wrong - you have to request the car and then also specify to PD how they can make money through an advertising partnership. Observe:

Dear Mr. Polyphony, could you please put a Mary Kay Cadillac in the game? My mom doesn't care about cars or play this game but she likes Mary Kay and the colour pink.

Nahh, mary kay is too lowbrow for our image. Nevermind they actually have a history with cadillacs. How about a Koenigsegg but you need to show proof of purchase of Chanel perfume. Interested, PD?

To be fair i've actually been often getting 100k, 500k even 1m in my daily workout spins. It seems they are way less stingy with daily spin payouts. I hope that was intentional and not accidental, and i'm not sure how longs its been like that I only started playing again for the time being with spec 2.

Wasn’t there already a Boat promotion?

There was a brief spell in the early-00s where Bulgari made it into every film, for some reason. The most obvious ones were Mission Impossible II (Thandiwe Newton's character steals a Bulgari necklace as a plot point) and the beginning of Ocean's 12 where Isabel is discussing "the Bulgari Heist" with her boyfriend Rusty (who perpetrated it). It pretty much went back to adorning the necks of leading ladies on the red carpet after that.

I still have fond memories of staying in the MGM Skylofts in Vegas a few times. Those crazy penthouse suites smell of the Bvlgari Thé Blanc toiletries in the bathrooms.

Brand deals and VGTs arent anything new , i don't know why people are still suprised by this

be happy that there wasn't any VGT in Spec 2 update :D (some people seem to forget that there was a big update few weeks ago)

Just more lucky than before. I get the same lame prizes as most of people posting in the thread about daily workout prizes

There is no race car i want as much as Toyota gtone, i would take it anyday over any gt3 car period, but in general i prefer road cars, i dont have problem with vision cars despite i prefer more production cars, and its always a good sign for another update

Judging from the angular appearance of the car silhoutte in the video, it could well be similar to their watch design as shown above.

Also, I like the incorporation of the QR code, which leads here if you can't scan it yourself.
