Funny, thats why I like Bush...
But he is telling the truth when he says that GM, Ford, and DCX need to build cars that people want to buy instead of complaining about how their sales are dropping off. Cars like the Mustang, 300C, Charger, Magnum, Challenger, Camaro, etc... are what the big three need to hold their market share and gain customers back from the import dealers. If they can deliver on a cheap, high-performance car that gets good fuel economy, they would have a hit... Thats why the prospect of a DOD 5300 V8-powered Camaro is so awesome...

If GM and Ford really were suggesting to the Government that they might need the government's help, and if this is the reply from the President, it's very embarrassing. I think some of the Daimler-Chrysler cars are desirable, I think few Fords are nice too, I'm not too crazy about GM cars, but that might be just my personal taste. I agree with the President on the Hybrid technology, that one is a no-brainer.

...Bush drives a F250 Superduty on his ranch in Crawford, TX. I dont think he would be too happy if one day Ford lost it and there werent any more work trucks available...
BTW: Did anyone see the video clip when the prime minister of Japan was at Bush's ranch and they both got out of his Ford? It was hilarious seeing the Japanese PM get out... Hes so tiny!!!

Wow... I particularly like that he's telling them to produce a more marketable vehicle line. Maybe that would re-introduce some youthful interest in the domestic market.

Actually, Bush is right. I'm surprised.
The two companies do need a bail-out badly, but I think they should do everything they can internally first to stem the bleeding. Only when they're relatively stable should the Government give them support with their debt. Support at this point would just go to plugging a hole that's getting bigger and bigger.

You mean to say that you actually believe that Regan new exactly how to deal with the damn Commies? That Nixon had a plan to get out of Vietnam? That Truman had planed to use the A-Bomb on Japan? That FDR had any idea how to get the country out of it's largest economic crisis since the Civil War?

Once again Bush bashing shows how ignorant you really are. If Bush is so stupid and such a bad President, then how on earth did he win a second term? I guess more people like him then not...and someone (a majority) must think he's fairly smart.

How is GM still in business? Because they are still one of the biggest automotive companies in the world. You have to remember GM owns Opel, Vauxhall, Holdean, Saab, etc. Also Chevy's are not just American, they are world wide. Look around and tell me why GM's in business.

They are so damn large because their original line up was so redundant and instead of keeping focus they decided well... that other manufacture looks good lets get them they will help but instead started dragging them down too. Now it's so large that there's no going back. Now the problem has reached what was it 8 BILLION? So, now these other manufactures GM are having to try an save GM's ass. At some point (which my have already happened) it will be these add-on manufactures that will be in the same possition forget saving GM's ass.
