I just pre ordered GT6 Anniversary Edition. First time I have ever pre ordered a game, and first time I have purchased a GT game at or near launch. My motivation came from participating in this thread.

Mister dog will have to buy 2 second hand copies to offset this pre order if he really wants to teach PD a lesson.

I'm buying mine second hand now, first time I have ever cancelled a pre ordered game, and first time I have at or near launch. My motivation came from participating in this thread.

Mister dog won't have to buy 2 second hand copies now to offset this pre order if he really wants to teach PD a lesson.

He couldn't afford a new car. That is not a potential sale, and it is not a lost sale.

No, he never intended on buying a new copy. Read the OP, he is quite clear on that.

Wow... You really don't get...
* PD is a company that needs to sell it's product to make a profit.
* PD needs to work hard to make customers want that product.
* If that customer buys that product second hand, PD makes no profit.
* That customer stil gets to "enjoy" PD's product at a lower price whitout paying PD a dime.
* If PD did adres the major issues, that customer would buy it day one and PD makes more profit.
* PD did not adres the major issues.
* PD loses sales.

At the moment I don't see me buying GT 6 at all. I come here on GTP in the hope of some good news but every time I read a new article I see more reasons not to buy it. You see, I'm a potential customer, but PD is not doing anything to convince me to buy their product. There are alot of people that feel this way and next gen is just around the corner. Buying an XL edition later could be an option but the difference between GT5 XL edition and GT6XL edition will be me playing Project Cars on PS4. I don't see myself going back to PS3 at that point. I think most will feel the same at that point.

There are 80 million potential customers. If GT6 sells 1 million copies, PD have not lost 79 million sales.

I support the OP as your idea is sound. PD will lose a sale because of your disappointment at the features of launch. I would suggest you also write to them, showing your PSN name to prove you are an owner/player of the GT6 but that they got no revenue from your purchase. For them to act they need to know why you did not buy new.

A company is vastly more effected by criticism than it is by positivity from the public. 1 vocal unhappy customer is worth more than 1000 content customers.

Just voicing my opinion and the way i'm gonna spend my money that's all. I find "whining" a disrespectful term for thousands of posts on this forums over the years, raising the huge issues with this game which have prevented it from reaching the potential we want to see from PD.

For god's sake man; how hard can it be to give us 2013 sounds, a AI that is competitive, and get rid of PS2 car models as they have no place in a current generation game??

The issue with that thinking is that if they did that they would have to take time away from other things. If they came out with GT6 and it had no new cars or tracks but had all premiums and updated sounds people would still complain. Of if GT6 came out with the cars and tracks with all premiums and better sounds but with the same physics people would complain.

Now, there are ways around this. Namely, more time or more people. People lost it when it took them more time to that pretty much leaves more people. either through outsourcing or hiring more people. I have no idea why they are still such a small company.

The way I see it is that the game isn't even out yet, and already you're talking about buying it second hand.
We have a fair amount of details, but not enough to judge everything about it to jump and say "Omg I'm not buying this new because the trailer wasn't good enough or the details aren't substantial enough."
Just wait for reviews.

You're basing your assumptions on Pre-Orders again, pre-orders are low, yes, but that doesn't mean that GT6 will sell millions less than any other GT game, that's a very hefty claim.

It is a very safe and sound prediction, there is little hype for gt6.....time wil tell.

I really don't see how the OP's logic is so hard for people to understand and frankly I am right there with him. Personally, the major disappointments for me are the sounds and poor AI. They have not updated these in years so forgive me for not having faith in seeing these changed in GT6. People drastically underestimate the effect that consumers can have over the success or decline of a company. Many companies have went under because they got too comfortable with what they were offering. I wish no ill will for GT but if they keep putting out the same product and not work more closely with what a large proportion of their fan base is suggesting to improve the game someone someday may fill their footsteps. (IE Forza). The easiest way to show disapproval of a product is to simply not buy it at retail which I plan not to do. I do however realize that GT is still the best racing/driving game on the ps3 and has a lot of good things going for it so I will buy it used for personally enjoyment. Some may think "PD is only losing 60 bucks" but it can add up and make a difference over time. Like mentioned many of times on this site, why would they strive to make a better product when people will still buy it regardless?

Well let's be honest just for the pleasure of driving into the sunset with one of the best physic systems there is on console, i will buy GT6.

But; it seems that yet again PD has neglected desperate cries from their fanbase to update aspects that everyone wanted improved for years now.... They don't have to listen to us if you think of it; GT is the only choice as a racing simulation for all those punters out there with a playstation so the millions are practically guaranteed.

That's why for the first time ever (i purchased all versions of GT new on release); i will wait a month and buy it second hand at a reduced price.

Best way to get a message across in these cases is when it hurts someone's wallet don't you think?

I don't think PD will care when a couple people wait and buy the game a few weeks later. You expect this message to go viral or something?

I'm a Gran Turismo fan, and will buy it brand new on day one.,just like the rest of the millions fans out there
I mean, come on.. I spend much more on what I eat for a week than buying a one little tiny shiny disc for every.. 3 years?

You're either rich or have budgeting issues. Or GT isn't $60 USD plus tax equivalent where you live. I spend that much in groceries for a week and half to two weeks food.

Obviously they don't care, if they did they would have lied about the sounds and then patched after everyone bought it. They know some people will wait to buy it (potential future revenue) or they will wait to play it but buy it day one.

Huh, you really think that if they cared, they would blatantly lie to everyone?

Do you lie to people that you care about? That's not considered normal behavior, not in any culture I am aware of.

totally agree OP, the core game is just bad...People need to remember this is a game.. The Game part of GT is years behind. they look like they never even attempted to address the core of what needs to be fixed. It's sad people will buy anything, like those peeps that buy the same COD every year. You will buy GT no mattter how bad it gets when better competitors come along (Forza, project cars...)

I am speaking with my wallet. The Core sp look horrendous again, no imagination, horrid AI. i am not buying Gt until they fix the many issues this series has that never get fixed.

More cars and tracks?? What about fixing the damn game?

Yep.. Having to unlock paint??? Who in their right mind thinks that's a good game mechanic? Why are all the evetns sdo cookie cutter? Where is the variety, imagination? Why is the AI still from 10 years ago? Who does the game need 1200 cars, when 500+ are duplicates and a bunch more ps2 ports?? I'd rather have 3-500 high quality premiums, this is unacceptable and a sad way to pad car count.

I actually like the different versions of Nissans.. or I couldn't get my car in the game.. having said that they haven't covered the UK spec 350Z HR from 2007/8 LOL - erm so I still can't (doh)

:banghead::crazy:

I'm not buying on release. GT5 and the soon to come GT6 Photomode Forum will keep me satisfied. And tempted. But I'll wait for the Spec X.0 Edition that comes with all the DLC etc. because I'm a cheapskate. Also I think I'm outgrowing video games so it won't be among my top priorities anymore.

EDIT: Oh, and when I buy, I'll get it new. :D

It would be pretty pointless to a game of this scale. The game will sell millions and millions. For you to get a message across, you'd have to counter it with millions and millions of second hand buyers, over half of the ones that bought it new. Chances of this happening is pretty slim. Even if it does happen, it would be a bit counter-productive, since sales keep a company going so how does it make sense that you want them to make the game better if they're not supported? Also, they may make their money up from people that have to purchase the online pass (assuming since Last of Us required it), or DLC, so if you plan to boycott sales revenue by buying the game used, it would be a pretty pointless, minor move... unless as someone said above, you're all very vocal as to personally sending them a message, at least.

It has gone viral - so many comments on youtube below GT6 trailers suggesting the same thing over and over again. And forums going the same way.

Why would a company chose to ignore such things - but I am hoping that there will be a bigger bombshell dropping. And we will all be amazingly surprised with the end results.

I have pre ordered at least 12 copies, 2 for myself and my family, and at least 10 for X'mas gifts, could be more, some of them Asian version, Australian version ( quite a large relatives lived there - Sydney ) I love group buy ( there are more than 10 people who will pay them ) , pay only a fraction  so yeah, happy days. I bet there are millions of people like me who bought at least one copy and another for holiday gifts.

EDIT : Just got news that my old buddies from high school are doing the same, they are pre ordering in bulk ( group buy ) for holiday presents :P I see at least 50 copies now from about 15 high school buddies with their family.

Ups, sorry I miscalculated it
In the city where I live, I spend around 5 usd per day for food.
and if GT6 is 60 USD I guess?, so .. it is 12 days worth of food, not a week I mentioned earlier.

(I seriously need to go back to the math class LOL)

I'm happy for you and i will let you finish, but PD are one of the most successful console racing developers of all time.

GT5 sold over 6 million copies in under 2 months. Main difference between then and now? An improved product, and the PS3 userbase has doubled.

And you think a few youtube comments, forum posts and second hand games is going to convince them to change a very profitable business model?

I predict 5 million copies are sold before 2014. That would be considered successful, would you agree?
If they fall short of that figure, I will come back in here, eat my words and confirm that you were right all along.

Fair enough - I am a die hard GT fan and do not want the game to fail .. all we want is for PD to improve things, but to be fair lets see how GT6 does.

Cheers

An entire colony (mine) has cancelled their pre order.. that's 50,000 people lol

My face is a palm.

 I don't know about you, or if my situation is considered normal  but my families are mostly gamers and automotive enthusiasts, from my cousins, uncles, granpa to aunt, my granpa's sister actually a gamer since Nintendo days - imagine that. I have a group of buddies from junior high and high school that are still in touch, buying games, play them and have fun together, imagine that when I am over 30 years old :D When GT5 launched, I got it on release day along with some of my buddies and families, there were at least 40 copies :P I'll be buying for my nephews/nieces, uncles and my cousins children in Sydney, that means several copies of GT6 from me alone. The kids prefer GT6 over 6 pack of belgium chocolates.
