Pretty cool story (and guide):

One day a few of my friends and I were playing a quickscoping match against some jamaican semi-pro's, and during one round there was one of us alive and one of them alive. For some reason, the jamaicans kept screaming "silent shot, do the silent shot!!!". We had no idea what they were talking about. Until we saw the killcam. The last guy in their team killed our guy, with an intervention, without the bullet making any noise, hence the "silent shot". We were awed. What happened was 2 of the people in my team (good friends of mine) and I kept on training to do the silent shot. We can now do it perfectly, and I might post a video up, because it's a little hard to explain in writing. Nevertheless, i shall give it a go:

1) Practice your no-scopes - no matter how random they are-. Silent shots can only be achieved while no-scoping.

2)Equip your throwing knife.

3) Press the trigger (R1), and directly after press the "equipment" button (R2). Don't let go of the R2 key, because if you do it incorrectly, or you don't hit the target, you will lose your throwing knife, and most likely get killed while looking for it. Timing is key. Do not press the 2 at the same time, and at the same time do not leave too much time in between. Yes I know, it sounds very confusing.

The silent shot is essentially a no-scope, so you won't always hit your target.

If you do it correctly, the screen will tilt to the right, about 30-40Âş (not that good at angles, please forgive me).

If not, the screen might tilt, but not as much; 10-20Âş-ish.

The silent shot will only appear silent in the game winning killcam -if done correctly- (I cannot confirm that this happens in a regular killcam.

Sorry for the extremely hard-to-understand guide. As I have said before, it's hard to explain over text. And it is almost guaranteed that you will not achieve this on the first try. Practice with a friend in private matches.

If you're really lost, but really curious to wonder what this "silent shot" is, add me on my gaming account (PSN): nuklear_pumpkin. I'll gladly show you what it looks like (: , and i'm always up for a 1v1.
I have known this for a long time, it is an awesome kill and I love to spice it up with a 360 or jump shot. It is very satisfying when you get it, it works on any killcam and I love it!

EDIT: Yeah, my bad.

The night started off pretty good. We had 6 of us putting work in destroying anything and everything. I upped my all time win streak by 1 before host migration failed. After everyone else left A6 and I tried to play a few games but it was horrible. I went from getting MVP and having a flawless game to finishing with a K/D of .5 at the very bottom of the list.

This. Using a heartbeat monitor is a perfectly legitimate tactic.

Is it just me, or is COD steadily becoming the new COUNTER-STRIKE? I've seen countless examples of where players jealously guard their skills, of where people rage-quit and accuse others of being noobs simply because they get killed. It seems some players would like nothing more than to see most of the weapons removed from the game and everyone forced to play with a select set of weapons (that usually favour their own strengths) because it would be a "true" representation of peoples' ability. If I'm sitting on Afghan with a sniper rifle and I take you out with a headshot because you broke cover, that doesn't make me a noob. If I'm running into a room and I can't see what's around the corner and so I sent a grenade from the launcher before me and it kills you, that doesn't make me a noob. And yet in almost every game I play, someone is screaming and being abusive about it. There was a guy camped out in the substation on Derail once, and I managed to circle around behind him via a largely-unused part of the map, jumped over the claymore he had waiting and knifed him from behind. Did I get a "Whoa, that was a good stealth kill you had going"? No. I got "****ing noob! Someone kick this ****ing ****!", and all because I showed some guy that he wasn't nearly as good as he thought he was. People completely miss the fact that they're totally predicatable; everyone has a preferred route through each stage, even if they claim otherwise. It's the people who don't know the maps that you have to be wary of because they've got the element of surprise.

I think this attitude is really killing the multiplayer. I understand that some gamers feel the learning curve in MW2 is non-existent, and I think their complaints here are somewhat justified (although they could always go in for a Mercenary game ... this never seems to occur to them, though). But their behaviour isn't. If ever you join a COD-related message board or try to edit the Wikia, you're met by a barrage of hostile posters and ostracised if you don't value the same skills as they do. I have my preferences for a certain set-up, yet I get accused of cheating because I use Painkiller and get a health boost for ten seconds every third death. The wider COD community is filled with obsessive and openly-hostile gamers who are very unfriendly, accuse everyone who beats them of cheating and cannot believe that they are anything less than the best gamer ever. I'm sure this isn't what Tryarch or Infinity Ward intended - but it's what they're getting.

I only got into FPS games when COD4 came out, but this kind of attitude has existed throughout all of my experiences. COD4, WaW, MW2, BFBC2, rage heads exist in all of them. I dont like it, but MW2 went some way toward fixing it with muting available in lobbies. I dont tend to play with randoms anyway. Me and my mates grind to unlock most of the weapons etc, and then we play private so we dont have to deal with idiots.

I have to disagree on the whole 'its my perk preference get over it' argument though. The way you play as outlined in your post its acceptable to me but some people just spoil it. (Hence opting to play private.) Hiding in dark corners with heart beat sensor and insta kill noob tube on domination/sabotage/headquaters? People treat every game mode like a deathmatch because of the stupid kill streak rewards.

By the way i get raged at in all FPS games. The reason is that my class of choice is a sniper. Camper is their usual word of choice. I'm sorry, but waiting patiently for someone to break cover, and laying traps to protect my position is not camping. Its sniping. Sitting with your aim up in a narrow corridor with an LMG, hitting fire when someone walks across your sights, is!

How many games was that? Forza was worried about his win streak, but I highly doubt it even came close to 20. Maybe more like 12?

We need to set up a night, so our top guns from North America can get together, kick some behind. Like you said on PSN, when there are at least four of us together, we are nearly impossible to beat for normal teams. We had my buddy Bizzar to make six tonight, and we were just running right over the other teams. Props to him, I asked him to play, as he happened to get on. He was able to give us like 2, 3 games before he had to go, and he's like, literally twice the player I am. 👍

So far, we have Vash/Brett, Forza/Icarus & myself signed on. If it were up to me, we'd recruit Rabia Ex, Azuremen & you, T.A. It would be 100% [GTP] this way, and unless you bring in some hardcore clan, we should have pretty good chance of reaching, and surpassing the win streak of 30. Like I said, I think me & Forza's at 28 from our last run.

Another thing we can try is the distribution of kill streak duties, as we discussed before. Plenty of UAV support, and efficient delivery of air support, care pkg., etc.
A6: You know that I never need breaks..
True dat. :D
Just got it back together. Seems to be working fine again. A few buttons had fallen out.
Do you have to out-do me in this department, too?

The map pack maps are absolutely killing me. Overall, the new maps are causing my entire game to suffer. The CoD4 maps are especially killing me since most people now have two different games worth of experience on them. Some of my slump may be down to playing with a variety of primary and secondary weapons, instead of my bread and butter SCAR-H, FAMAS, and USP45s.

Twelve was probably about right. The game you dropped out of or got disconnected from is when I left. My internet connection died and I did not really feel like waiting it out, so I watched some of The Hoff Roast on Comedy Central instead. Looking back, it does not surprise me that my connection died, because it was mostly slow for the night.

That group we first started out against seemed to get a bit upset at how badly we beat them. The thing is though, each game they started out pretty well and then managed to quickly fall apart.

I was running UAV, Counter UAV, and Predator last night.

I understand this, knowledge of the maps, reading the flow on the maps can be critical at times. If you have any specific maps you are struggling with, I can share my gameplan with you, that may help a bit. Also, remember how we say in this thread about taking it really easy on new maps. For me, concentrating on smaller section at a time is one of the keys. Pretty soon, you get the whole entire map.

Choice of weapons are important, too. I'd recommend sticking with what you are most comfortable with, when you are playing on new maps. For me, SCAR can work as sniper rifle, or sub-machine gun. It's the most versatile gun I know, and I can use it on a big map like Fuel, or smaller like Highrise, Vacant, etc. But again, if you are going to operate on just smaller sections of a particular map, you could use something like P90 with a silencer. If you use covers, P90's almost impossible to beat, especially with your internet. :D

What the hell is this show? When I invited Bizzar, that show was the reason why he could only play couple of games with us, he had to leave when the show started!
Bizzar was good to play with. He tore up the other teams in the games he played with us.
I added him on my friends list after a match on Countdown, on CoD4. I was messing around with a sniper rifle, and I'm not a sniper. I get pinned down, they came after me, and Bizzar came in for rescue. He kills everybody, then proceed to work his way through the map. I'm looking down from a one of the silo things, and he is just killing everybody in his path without even stopping. I've had mancrush on his game since.
That group we first started out against seemed to get a bit upset at how badly we beat them. The thing is though, each game they started out pretty well and then managed to quickly fall apart.
I noticed that, too. Mainly because I was contributing those early deaths! :ouch: I just flat out didn't bring it, last night. But as a match went on, I'd go from way in the negative, to somewhat in positive. Checking the overall score, we saw similar pattern. There were few lopsided wins that started out really slow for us.

The team you are talking about, that was the shortbus, right? I hope they were kidding about coming over to our homes!
I was running UAV, Counter UAV, and Predator last night. I was struggling to get past UAV because kills were getting soaked up too quickly and I would be wandering around maps looking for the other team much more than I normally would when I play with randoms.
Those deaths would come, I'm the same way. If I'm by myself, I play at my own pace. But when I'm with a team, I'm definitely obligated to play certain way. Rescuing, cutting off routes, etc. Risks are definitely increased.

Ahem, you forgot your Anti-Aircraft, and almost gotten a nuke a couple times guy. Methinks I can play a decent part, now that i'm much better than the many months ago. Played MW2 for last week, and my K/D rose by .10.

Some guys should have UAV, Harrier and Pavelow. The big hitters, like Azuremen and RabiaX have Emergency Airdrop. Put the UAV online as soon as the airdrop is being called, so no one sneaks up and steals the gold. Make sure all the teammates are close to the airdrop, so it can have good protection. Make sure it's in a safe spot, put up claymores if necessary.

And of course, camp like crazy. Whenever you bloody can, in fact, don't even move from your spawn.

Our streak was 15. My previous best playing with randoms was 14.

I was using UAV/CUAV/PRED all night like I always do. I was running around with the UMP45 rapid fire all night causing massive amounts of pain. So long as we had a decent host I was having a great night.

I might be on tonight. We'll see.

MP5K is good but like the uzi the other SMGs are just better. I like the fire rate of the MP5 but the UMP will drop them faster. If I were going for a purely HROF gun I'd have to pick the vector over the MP5 anyway.

It does not help that the random teams I am on are not very good either. Having good teammates that cover each other also helps tremendously. More than anything I am just trying to learn where the majority of the action takes place. I need to slow my game down in general at the moment. I am moving too much for my own good.

I would have to unlock silencer on the P90 first to use it. I do not think I have a silencer on any SMG this prestige.

It was Comedy Central's roast of David Hasselhoff. Comedy Central showed it about four times last night.

Yes.

Playing on a team changes how I play a bit. I end up moving around the map much more and that usually means I die more.

UMP sucks. I can't hit crap with it, no matter what I put on it. MP5K FTW.
I always found that silencer made the gun more accurate but that was me. I would often use the M4 with Silencer and UMP was always my choice. I would never put a silencer on a sniper rifle unless it was for hardcore.

The silencer does seem to make them more accurate. It also reduces the damage on all guns so I've been shying away from using them on my primaries. If I'm running and gunning and planning on being behind the enemy I'll have a silenced secondary.

There are some weapons that you just shouldn't use when you're trying to play with lag. I've been trying to use the RPD and half the time I can't even get hit markers when I know I should be hitting them.

The SCAR is actually a touch less accurate with the Silencer from my testing.

Also, different weapons experience different damage fall offs from Silencers due to the way it modifies range. Most weapons will maintain their damage at close range, but the point that damage falls off is sooner with a silencer. However, this isn't the case with Sniper rifles or LMGs, which take a flat damage reduction at all ranges.

Can anyone recommend a decent assault rifle to use with an ACOG sight? The M16A with ACOG became my default weapon in COD4 and i feel i could do with something similar as one of my weapons classes in MW2 for some of the bigger maps as a semi-sniper rifle.

So far i've only really tried an ACOG with the SCAR (apart from briefly on the other assault rifles when leveling up) but found it's recoil to be too strong to be accurate over a distance.

I guess i should really try it on the M16A, but the gun just feels different to how it does in COD4.

Also, is it just me or does it seem to take longer to get aim down the ACOG in MW2?
