Dang. Just looked on ps store and the dlc prices for pcars are beyond what I’m willing to pay. I will have to think about this.

I'll say this...it's totally worth getting the DLC especially if you plan to race in this league. Plus, if you do well and win some of those prizes, then getting the DLC will pay for itself.

Thing is.. tomorrow night for me is a test of whether it will be worth it to pursue racing in pcars or whether I should just clear the space from my PS4. Spending $30 for the season pass so I am covered going forward is way too steep for a game that isn’t being supported anymore. I am surprised the dlc isn’t discounted at least. Cheaper option is to just get the Porsche pack for $10 which is a lot for what it is but then it could end up being $10 over and over again depending on how cars and tracks are selected going forward.

I am so spoiled from gran turismo. Free cars and tracks every 4 weeks since launch with no additional investment needed is the norm for me. I don’t mind paying a little extra to support the dev and get premium content but I don’t see the value at the current pricing. I paid full retail for this game when it released hoping to switch then but it was a nightmare initially so I shelved it. If I had just picked this game up from GameStop for $20 maybe it wouldn’t sting as much.

I've made several posts on a few different threads on GTP lately talking about the need for this game to come out with more sale specials.

Bandai Namco's reluctance in coming out with any sales is hurting the game, and this right here is a good example.

However, it is definitely worth it. The Season Pass gives you a discount on the rest, so get that first if anything.

I also play GTS but you're still getting alot more content in this game.

I will front you a code for the Season Pass. (No worries.....I have plenty). When you win you first prize then I'll just hang onto whatever winnings make it even out. I'll send you a code tomorrow

Hey Camel, I would like to hop in the league for season 12. My attendance will be tentative so I could be a fill in if you need. Thanks
Hey JD. I just wanted to let you know to make sure to just edit your post if there's new information to add instead of making another post.

They really do not like people Double Posting on gtplanet so, it's better to here this first from us instead of a moderator letting you know :).

Great Racing tonight. Congrats to @The__Camel and @yogi bear for their respective Group wins. Report #3 has been updated with the current standings after Week #1.

Next weeks races will be at Donington Park GP for 30 mins and Ruapuna Park GP for 45 mins. I will get the weather, time, and fuel posted by Friday evening.

Tonights highlight video will be posted by tomorrow evening.

:gtpflag:I want to thank you all for welcoming me to the fold and bearing with me last night as I figure this new game out. I have a lot to learn but after last night I at least have some direction on things to change and a better feel of what not to do.

The curbs in this game are absolutely devastating and sent me spinning a few times from just grazing them. My brakes wouldn’t get above 200 degrees and I fought oversteer in- understeer out all race. Obviously I got the car pack right before the race so had no time to check anything out, but next week no excuses. I will be running practice laps every chance I get to get this car right.

I will say though that i definitely had a great time and look forward to Donington. Hopefully I’ll be a bit more competitive.

The guys here have multiple practice sessions during the week. It is always announced in the PS4 group message ahead of time. Anyone here would be glad to help with any questions you may have. All you need to do is just ask

I could send you my set up...it's not the fastest, but it's predictable and throttle responsive. Meaning over steer on entry that can be checked by applying throttle, too much throttle and it understeers.
You are welcome to it if you want.

I have a tire question for you guys. I’ve been running offline to get comfortable with the game. The last week I’ve been using the Aston Martin GT4 and playing with the tune to find speed. I got the car to feel great at multiple types of tracks on soft slicks and really thought I was getting somewhere. Then I tried a new track and put hard slicks on. The weather was cold and cloudy if it helps. Suddenly, I had no control of the car at all. Switched back to soft slicks and it was better but still sketchy. My question is, is there really such a massive difference in compounds that I need to create an entirely different setup to get the car to behave well again? And does cloud cover make cars undriveable? I understand there would be less grip but it suddenly felt like I was riding on my rims.

From my experience, the difference between softs and hards is dependent on the temperature of the track. Hot and sunny tracks that get over 90-100°F provide better opportunities to use the hard tires, because the softs will get chewed away too fast. On the other side of that, softs do better in cooler conditions, like below 90°F. And in order to find a good balance, you may have to adjust the roll bars or springs, but I wouldn't make an entirely new setup though. Also, cloud coverage does produce a different feel for the car when compared to clear, sunny day. But that's just from what I've learned. Other guys in here may have different opinions or experiences. But I provided a link to a video of this guy name Yorkie that gives advice and tips on tires, among other PC2 things. If you skip to 5 Mins into the video, he starts talking about the differences between soft and hard tires. Hope that helps!

Jmutt is correct. Tire compounds are directly related to track temperature. Although I do have to say.....there are a couple classes o this game that only agree with a certain tire. For example....the GT1 class really only agrees with Soft Tires. No matter the track temp....those cars just dont seem to work with a Hard Tire

That’s odd to me. Is that really a sim thing? From my experience in the racing series I have competed in irl, different compounds affect speed and grip but don’t make the car undrivable. Admittedly we are talking about much less sophisticated machines than GT1 cars but still. I feel like pcars tries too hard to over complicate things which aren’t complicated often. I am spending more time and energy trying to simply make my car remotely driveable in pcars than I ever did setting up any car I have actually raced. It’s a bit off putting. Do you guys enjoy that or do you just deal with it?

I think I'm a good candidate to answer your question as I am someone who drove GTS at it's inception and on, but am now using pCARS 2 alot more.

I'm a little miffed at your issue because, for as much as (rH) Tyres are naturally harder to control then (rS) Tyres it still should not have been significant enough to the point where it became uncontrollable for you. I also believe that the harder Tyre takes a little longer to heat up then softer tyres.. Were you sure they were heated?

Anyway, my main purpose of writing this is to let you know that I was in your shoes 7-8 months ago, and that it's only natural to feel a little overwhelmed at first.

You can ask these guys here and in some of the other leagues just how frustrated I used to get not knowing the in's and out's of this program .

Yes, there are some glitches here and there in the game and maybe what you experienced was one, but, that's gotta be something rare then.. Basically, don't think that the rest of the Gr.4 - Gr.3 cars are gonna be like that.

As far as tuning goes, I absolutely love all of the options that is at our disposal in pCARS. Again, even for someone as experienced as you using other titles, you're still going to need to be a little patient and see what works and what doesn't. Once you learn how to tune 1 car the rest will come easier as, the different tuning attributes are consistent from one car to the next even in different disiplines.

My question was going to be (as Pots asked) were you tires warmed up properly? Hards do take 2-4 laps (pending the track) to get up to the right temperature. Also......what mode are you practicing in? If you are free tomorrow.....I will be having a mock race/races for this weeks coming races. I can much better explain over the mic how to test than I can here on the forums

Thanks guys. I understand that there’s going to be some weird stuff here and there. I’m just trying to wrap my head around it all so I can identify what I need to do and how to do it. I don’t have much issue being slow, I’m used to that. It’s when the car is violently unstable at any speed or through any turn is where I question why I am even bothering. Hopefully the eureka moment is on the horizon.
