I don't see TOO much resemblance. As the SS Route looks more jagged and rude in the corners, whereas Cape Ring is softer and has more flow to it. Plus a jump and Helix both ways.

I see what you're getting at but the two track's have nothing in common other than creating a bay like shape.

By the way, for those of you that find the jump unrealistic, keep in mind that some do exists IRL. The uphill at Limerock Park in CT has been known to lift a car or two off the track.

I dont really like it, loop and jump make it too much a fantasy track for me. Other than that it could have been a cool track.

Car have been "jumping" (actually it's lifting because of the way the car is done more than jumping) on Le Mans straight too, but it has nothing to do with the Jump on Cape Ring.

The LRP jump doesn't result in 15 feet of air. Neither did the one at Jersey. Both have chicanes now for when fast cars are racing. I don't think too many people complain about similar jumps such as at Trial Mountain or Nürburgring Nordschleife.

For me personally it's a matter of taste, not realism. I just don't enjoy that part of the track. But I don't get upset about it either.

EDIT: I'd rather see the loop as part of a modern Complex String, seems it would be a better fit as a technical exercise on a testing track like that. If we had a different, tighter section climbing the hill in its place with a slower exit speed, we would probably hear a lot less complaing about the jump.

I'm not a big fan of Cape Ring but I'm totally opposed to removing it or any other track for that matter. Please don't give PD bad ideas...

Lime Rock is night and day from what is at Cape Ring. The hill on the Back Straight isn't even as dramatic as the Flugplatz, and that Porsche came off the ground mostly because of aerodynamic disturbances anyway (note how the Buick didn't do anything remotely similar).

The track is made already, so I don't see the point in leaving it out. Also I enjoy driving on it, except for the big loop section.

I dont see what the big issue with the loop is. I always thought it was kind of a neat feature to the track. The jump I don't care much for though, not bad enough for me to want the track gone though. I want more tracks that were previously in GT games. The more the merrier, cause then more people have tracks the can enjoy even if others don't enjoy the same kind of tracks.

That's just one example. Until they put the chicane in, tons of cars were lifting off the ground. Whether you go 1" or 15' the feeling is the same. 0 gravity for a moment.

I know the jump at cape ring isn't realistic, but ditching the track because of it is a lame excuse. In fact, I think they should leave it and fix their physics model so landing destroys your suspension. That would force drivers to brake before cresting the hill, a new challenge that would make driving on the track more of a challenge. Just like the driver in the video I posted had to adjust how much throttle he applied going up the hill.

Cape Ring wasn't their best work, it seems like a mess of ideas, like they had a suggestion box in the office for the new track and they decided to use every single one.
However, it has its place, and with some modifying could become a very decent track.

Lime Rock is in iRacing and the jump really isn't bad at all, it results in maybe half a second of air if that, Cape Ring's is way too unrealistic and most likely would seriously damage the car IRL.

I kinda like the jump, not sure why.

Still, I'd rather have Seattle Circuit. That tracks a lot better!
