That Miata is stunning! Never seen one before. I like the way it has pop up headlights too. Makes me miss my old mark one. :(

I just wonder how many on here are faking illness in order to play: I've been tempted myself. Still, only three more hours at work...

Newsflash:

CNN has reported a massive epidemic, possibly affecting as many as 5 million people who called in sick to work today!...lol.

The Miata looks pretty awesome I have to admit. Good to hear the Cappy is a little easier to drive. Hopefully it makes for even more competitive, closer racing and more predictable handling for those that aren't as adept at tuning.

I am ecstatic overall about the new draft, I think it'll really smooth things out in online racing lobbies. In our series I'm curious to see how it affects the cars ability to pass on tighter tracks. I can see going to a big draft/little draft type of set up depending on the track.

One curious thing I noticed in my limited experience so far is that in 4 laps my RM tires didn't fully warm up in the GT500's, something that took only one lap before.

Finding lobbies, loading into lobbies, loading of tracks is much faster now.

I'm also stuck at the office 👎

Looking at the DLC, that big lug of a Challenger is also pretty darn attractive.

Has anyone read what the G25/G27 support includes, anything more than button mapping?

.

The physics are different/improved, it seems the perpetual understeer has been greatly diminished or eliminated.

Brandon,

You are completely wrong about this. The physics on this car are frickin' phenomenal!!!!! I couldn't resist before I headed out to work to run the Cappy on Madrid, the track most fresh in my mind.

On my second lap, on dead cold tires, my first split was 19.6, lap time 58.5, pretty quick for a second lap.

Third lap, tires still cold, first split 19.58, lap time 58.0Fourth laps, tires still cold, first split 19.3 lap time 57.5

The car is dramatically different, the handling and predictability is vastly improved. I can see low 57's easily at Madrid now, and if the tires actually warmed up at some point, easily in the 56's, it's that good!!!

Unreal!!!

You can also adjust the the level of force feedback from 1-10. I did successfully map my buttons on the wheel to look left and right now, which I'm just absolutely thrilled about! Oh, and I can honk my horn now. :)

How am I wrong? I said the physics were different/improved and that I didn't feel like I had perpetual understeer anymore, it seems like your comments are supporting that?

DLC karts. So Saturday after Capp we run Kart league? ;)

Only two cars on DLC we don't need and are kick in the nuts. Tue older Skylines. R34 I can live with but seriously we complain about to many skylines and the guy chocks our first DLC full if them.

With that only minor tussle everything else looks utterly amazing. From the Prius to the Scooby/Evo. And that Dodge is pretty hot. That CRZ is a looker too.

New Tracks. Hail PD. TY for Spa!!! the kart track is sick and if you can get full size cars in it. Be sick in a Capp. :) as well to drift if that's your thing.

Very pleased.

Lol...you're wrong Brandon because you understated how dramatically different the car is!!!

It's so much more predictable and stable. It drives the way I've been trying to get it to drive through endless hours of tuning, but could never quite get. I tried a few laps on GVR a track I'm not that familiar with and it was a complete joy to drive. Even with my oversteery Madrid tune, it was incredibly planted and stable, on all but the tight hairpin, so I started taking it in 3rd and feathering the throttle to settle it down. That corner is a problem in most of my cars. I kept shaving time off every lap as I realized the limits were much higher than I expected and after 5 laps I got down to 2:07.3. Much faster laps are there for sure with a bit of practice and some tweaking.

Can't wait to get back into the car tonight, and run some laps with the reduced draft. We've got a whole new series here!!!

Gotcha. ;) I only did a handful of laps this morning and while it seemed to be a great improvement I was only on 5 hours of sleep and still a bit groggy so I didn't want to over-state myself. lol It sure seemed to me like most/all of the negative handling characteristics were gone and it behaved exactly how I wanted it to. Yes, it's now how I always envisioned it to be. If the reduced slipstream is done correctly then our little Capp Cup is suddenly going to feel more like a real racing series instead of a silly video game! :D

@Owens......I'm quite excited about the new karts! From the get-go I always thought we needed at least 2 karts to chose from and now we do! I haven't driven a kart in a very long time but I think this will do great things for karting series, and I may have to look into one. :)

I have reservations about the new Kart Space track but if it's wide enough to race Cappy's on there........well I think that would be a beautiful spot for an All-Star race!

Thought's on replacing Monaco with Spa for Round 6?? :dopey:

Top G27 buttons are still unassignable (some claim that you can map them if you assign what you want to paddles :embarrassed:, haven't tried that yet).
We could be doing the first race with weak draft and the second with strong ;)

I think JP is getting you back for all the Angry Birds nonsense!

Also, how does one buy ps3 credits w/o giving Sony CC info? Paypal? Physical cards in Walmart or smth?

I think you can buy psn points cards at quite a few retailers and I'm pretty positive amazon sell them too.

Yeah dude, that shifter kart looks mean! Would be awesome to make a proper karting series.

Hell-yes.

See above. 👍

This. I'm pretty sure local retailers that sell PS3 games and accessories will have cards you can by with different amounts of credits on them. Or you can take a trip to the amazon, it looks like they have them in $10, $20 and $50 increments.

Is it confirmed to be a shifter kart? I've been looking but haven't found any specifics about the karts. One of them looks exactly like the kart we already have?

On the physics - FFB is much better, and yes, the car is faster. However, the latter, it would seem, is due to more grip from the same compound, and not too welcome IMO.

Why's that? It seems the suspension model is much more accurate which probably means that more of the contact patch is actually in contact with the ground for longer amounts of time (especially in turns), thus producing more grip regardless of compound. As long as it's an equal increase across all compounds it shouldn't be an issue?

But then I've never understood the concept of everybody wanting less grip in the tires so it makes sense that I wouldn't understand.

So what do you guys think should be on our agenda for this evening? I was thinking we should go back to Suzuka East for a bit, since it's still fresh in our heads we'll really be able to judge the difference in the slipstream and the Esses will give us a chance to feel the new grip/stability of our Cappy. We can go back to Fuji for a bit too, that was actually pretty fun in the Capp. Maybe we can even play around in the rain for a little bit?

Well hopefully you guys are on late 'cause I'm gonna be away for most of the day, till around 9 EDT or so. I think.

I'll probably be shutting down around that time but I have a feeling there will still be plenty of Capperino's in my lounge after I head to bed. 👍

From the pictures I saw the kart has the displacement (125cc) and the traditional rad on the left side look of a shifter kart. I've raced 100cc direct drive karts and test drove a couple of shifter karts back in the day and it's the most motorsport fun you can possibly have for under $10k without a doubt. A good shifter kart would probably be as fast or faster than a Cappuccino on a larger track and at Tsukuba I would guess, if they got the physics right, I'd expect laps in the low 50's. They accelerate like they're shot out of a gun and stop and turn on a dime...lol. 50+hp, 350 lbs and about a 43" wheelbase.

They've also added a junior kart too. Could be an 80cc two stroker or a four stroke kart, can't tell from the picture.

I've got about a half hour to kill here...going to try out some cars and see how the physics have changed across the board.

Oh and I wouldn't bet on the kart track being a good car track. It's only around 700 metres I think, has a 360 degree loop (!!) and it's patterned after an indoor track and from the picture looks to have really, really tight hairpins, like the tight one at Monaco. Sure does make a pretty picture though...sure be fun to drive in a kart!!!

I am like 2o mins from being home. Pizza delivery tonight. I ain't cooking nor leaving the house again. Maybe ever.

I still can't see anything that looks like a shifter on the picture, I don't see anything different on the left side from the right side but I don't know what I'm looking for either. Is it that purple hump thing with the black/red sticker on the side? It would be awesome to have a shifter kart, for sure!

On a related note, I should be getting a couple grand for my wrecked motorcycle soon and I'm seriously considering looking into a racing kart. I've looked around and can get a complete setup for under 2grand and I live 30 minutes away from one of the best karting facilities in the country. I doubt I'll be able to invest in it, but it's fun to think about!

Throw out all your laptime reference points...lol.

I just did a 1:21.2 at 450pp SS in an RGT. Previous best in that car was 1:22.8. It's a completely different car, very predictable and easier to drive faster. There is more grip but it isn't just the grip. It's the smoothness and knowing that the inputs you make with the wheel are going to happen 1 for 1. I'm not driving any different than before, but you can almost literally point and shoot, so long as you don't exceed the traction limits of the car.

I wont get home till late tonight, been looking forward to 2.0. Pretty happy with the DLC, I think. My concern is that you only get one of each car. I am hoping they are in the dealership or are a GT auto modification like the RMs. I could see having multiple of some of them. I am really really looking forward to the Miata, and like Brosif could see the Prius being a fun car to have in a series. Really hopeful that is a shifter kart, that would add a ton of fun to the game.

What's an RGT? :dunce:

Step away from the Cappuccino...lol.

Just shaved 1.3 secons off my best NSX Type R 03' time at Trial Mountain. Approaching old 600pp times there. Cars are just so much smoother, makes it easier to drive hard with more confidence.
