I looked him up on my friends list the other day and he hasn't been online for more than 2 weeks, closing in on 3 probably. Don't know why but it's kind of unusual, even if he's getting ready for college not to be online at all.

When I lived in Toronto I used to go to Mosport all the time and it's much like Mid-Ohio. Up and down, through the forest, off camber downhill sections, and you can walk the entire track inside and out, camp etc. Lots of great vantage points too. I should get up there again someday soon.
 
You may have already seen these photos but since we are talking about Mid-Ohio I thought I would post them for all to enjoy.

The following pictures show a SCCA T2 Nissan 350Z performing some end-Os through China Beach at the end of Mid-Ohio's back straight and continuing on over the tire wall, catch fence, and spectator fence. A bad wheel bearing caused the ABS system to malfunction and resulted in the 350Z leaving the track at the end of the straight at 90mph. As you will see, the driver walked away uninjured.

HOLY CRAP!!! Incredible series of photo's, would love to be the photographer that caught that!!! That car came to a rest at almost the exact spot where we were camping last weekend! The port-o-let's were right by that red gate. :lol: During Sunday morning practice for the SCCA touring cars we saw a Mazda RX-8 end up on it's side in that same sand trap, I think it rolled twice and came to a rest on the driver's side. Surprisingly that was 1 of only 3 cars that we saw in China Beach during the weekend, thought for sure there would be more!

Next year I'm going to look into taking one of the driving courses at Mid-Ohio, they have many packages available and some of them are only a couple hundred bucks. I would love the chance to drive around that track!

So, I overlooked a scheduling conflict for this weekend, I forgot I'm going camping tonight and won't be home until Sunday so I won't be able to host the races tonight and tomorrow. I think Owens is going to be able to host them for me so the races should go on as planned but I will update everyone with details once I confirm them. If anybody else would be able to host one of them it would be good to have a backup just in case.

Also, I know I haven't gotten the points standings updated from Tuesday. My internet at home was out for a couple days and I've been too busy at work to get it updated there. I'll try to take care of that today and get it posted. Sorry for the delay.

Ok, I've spoken with Owens and he is going to be able to host both races (tonight @ 10pm EDT and tomorrow @ 3pm EDT). He will hold them in open rooms as he doesn't have room on his friends list to add all of you. Look for him to post details here close to start time. Thanks Owens, much appreciated. Just post the results here and I can update everything later. 👍

Seriously considering a new account for my League races. Lack of friend spots on my current account is rough. Sadly I booted tons of COD players for GT5. Now I am full and have no people left to boot. All I play with weekly.

Or maybe the plus account could be opened up to say 200 friends.

Great fun tonight guys. Few mishaps. Ended up getting an awesome race out of DSG. Thank you for a clean run!!! Thinking we could of had a four way battle if we hadn't caught some bad luck.

Hope to see you guys tomorrow afternoon.
 
I should be credited with a 5th place finish.

In real racing, after the leader crosses the finish line, lapped cars only race until the lap they are on. I crossed the finish line a lap down in 5th, but crashed on the final lap (which should be the cooldown lap), and at the moment I'm only being credited with 7th.

EDIT: and I forgot to save the replay, too. Greaaaaaaaaaaat :rolleyes:
 
I used to set the timer for one lap's time but everyone complained that it wasn't long enough and even started changing it on their own. So I changed policy. Guess you really can't please everyone. Lol

Thanks for hosting Owens, much appreciated. Now, back to drinking by the campfire. :dunce:
 
Although the finish was lame, I had a great race overall.

Started last because I hate this track, Going into turn 2 one lap, all I could see was smoke and people names to my inside and outside. Suddenly I was in 3rd, after there was a big pileup. Owens and dsg caught up to me, and I ran my fastest times of my race with them as I finally figured this track out. However, I messed up the the Hairpin a few times, and ruined my rythym, and soon lost them, and allowed Torzilla to catch up to.

We battle for pretty much the rest of the race. A very clean battle as well. Neither of us could get away from each other, because we'd always mess something up.

Then towards the end of the race, I messed up and ran wide on the 2nd last corner, and torzilla was almost able to clear me on the exit, but didn't and I ended up wedged between his car and the wall, which stopped me dead. He was kind enough to wait for me (which for that, I thank you), although we let zer05ive catch up and pass us. I quickly caught up and passed him, and torzilla did the same a couple of laps later as well. He was catching up me with a few laps left, and Wardez and Wiifreak, the two leaders were catching up as well. We let them both by on their last lap, and let them duke it out, while I was able to hold off torzilla coming to the stripe.

Then I forgot that we (the lapped down guys), thanks to GT5 still had to race one lap. Had to get back on the gas, but torzilla was already by me. Though in turn 2, because Wardez and Wiifreak were finished, torzilla got stuck behind them, while I slid my way past on the outside.

I spun out on the exit of the hairpin, though, and collected zer05ive with me. I waited for him, as they both "officially" finished ahead of me, which sucks.
 
Not a good night for me last night with it coming at the end of a day that had me get up at about 6 am to get ready to go to work. I was running allright for the first lap and a half when I made a mistake and lost control of the car at the on ramp. It was all downhill from there and battling fatigue from being up all day didn't make it any better. Maybe I should sleep on it before nest Tuesday's race. :(

Also, I might not be able to take part in today's race since the meetup starts at 4 and I have to be out of the house around 3:30 to travel to said function.
 
owens isnt it a bit early ? i thought and did the race 2 weeks ago at 8 or 9pm BST :S and its only 7:30pm atm..
 
Where are you guys? Get that Cappucino down and buzz on in for some racing action!

Sounds like I missed some interesting racing this weekend..lol. Brandon, I see we're running an oval this week but not sure which one or if we're still running an oval. Can you post it up tomorrow sometime (Monday) what's happening and whether you have the oval available for download? It's going to be a busy week this week workwise so time for any practice will be severely limited...not that you need much practice for an oval...lol.
 
Can you please put a jump somewhere in the oval? Lets get these cars up in the air and rip a hole in the sun.

Sorry guys, the last couple weeks have been a whirlwind for me but things are calming down now. We are running an oval this week and I have it posted for download. To download the track, click on my name in the Community tab (like you're going to my lounge) and in the lower left corner will be a track icon. Click on it and you will see the track for download. I'll post the lap count tonight, I think it will be around 30 laps.

I'm updating the points from last week. Does anyone remember who was on pole for Friday's race? I have the results but not sure who should get the bonus point. If someone can let me know I'll get the Results and Standings posts updated.
