I got pole on Friday. It was a 59.965

Hmmmm.......sounds fishy to me. I need a third-party verification of that.

I've updated the Results in Standings in the 2nd and 3rd posts.

So what's going on with Saturday's races? There haven't been enough people show up the last two weeks to run the race. I'm considering doing away with Saturday's race for next season since participation has dropped so sharply, but that's the only day UK/EURO drivers can usually attend. I might move it to 6pm EDT on Tuesday and do a double-header on that day.

So what's going on with Saturday's races?

I can only speak for myself: Holidays have eaten into my gaming time quite a bit and Saturday evenings tend to be BBQ time.

From what I remember, there does appear to be very little interest from Europe in Saturday's race - On the times that I have made it to the grid, I am surrounded by Canadian and USA flags! Shame.

Once the holiday season is over I think you will find Saturday attendance goes back up again, however season 2 will be done by then too!

I would guess the Saturday attendance is down because of summer and varying commitments. A lot of stuff comes up in the summer at the last minute...usually involving alcohol, women and assorted illegal and pseudo-illegal activities that take precedence over racing...lol. You might want to poll the Euro's and see what they would prefer for a racing time/day/night although my bet is they'd be as varied as the rest of us for the same reasons.

Just don't drop the Tuesdays...this is one of the few race leagues that races on weeknights and those are the only times I can really be reasonably certain of attending.

One suggestion for next year. It's a bit risky but how about a poll before the season starts to determine which tracks the participants favour, reserve a couple for Organizers Choice and the balance by vote?

I kinda figured it was mainly due to summer-time activities, Saturday afternoon/evening is a prime time to get into other forms of trouble. 👍 No fear of dropping Tuesday, it's usually the best attended race of the week but Friday's do well too. That's why I was thinking about doubling up on one of those days, have an early race and a late race on either Tuesday or Friday. We'd still have 3 races per week that way but only over 2 days so all of us would have a little more time for real-life.

@Johnny, I haven't had very good luck with polls. lol I understand your proposal but there are so many tracks that I doubt we'd ever come to a majority agreement on any of them. My plan for Season 3 tracks is to take a combination of the best tracks from Season 1 and Season 2, there were a few each season that stood out and produced great racing. There will be a little bit longer break between the seasons this time too so people have a chance to finish up summer activities and I can spend a some time re-tooling everything. We'll have a pre-season discussion thread going for a couple weeks so I can get input from everyone. I'm very pleased with how things have gone so far but I feel like the Capp Cup needs a new element of some kind to keep things exciting. I might be submitting the Capp Cup to the ORB for sanctioning so we'll see what that entails (if it actually gets off the ground).

We'll keep hosting the Saturday races for the remainder of this season but will probably only count it as a points race if 5 or more people show up.

I will be doing some online practice at the selected oval tonight if anybody wants to join up. I'll post details here when I get my lounge open.

Just downloaded your oval - My 9 year-old daughter says it looks like Bert's nose!

I'm hoping online now to do some practice at the custom oval. If anybody else wants to get some practice in, come on out to Toscana! I'll be on for an hour or two.

Anyone have any lap times they would care to share? I will only have a few minutes tonight to set up for the track, be nice to have some targets to shoot for.

The best I got last night was :47.95x, I only dipped under :48 twice in 45 minutes of practice so I'd say that's a pretty solid time (for me). Some might be able to get into the :46's but I doubt much lower than that.

Hey guys, I don't know if I am going to make it tonight. I will have to try to duck out of my own birthday dinner. Who am i downloading the track from because I might have some time beforehand to practice this way I will not be coming in totally blind if I can make it.

What better birthday present than a Capp Cup race at a custom oval?!?! :dunce: lol

The track is available for download from my profile. Hope you can make it tonight, but if you can't at least you have a good reason. haha

Was that with a draft or on your own?

I'm going to download this track after school, might show up tonight, if I'm not busy.

I did a few laps yesterday with SS5 tune. Best I could manage was a hair under 47' on very warm tires.

I will open my lounge a little early so everyone can get some extra practice on the custom oval, probably around 6:45pm EDT.

Had a burn around Bert's Nose and hit 47.795 , just as the sun was going down. The track cooled after that and it was mid 48's from then on in!

Are you going to run this track with time changing?

Are you going to run this track with time changing?

No, I'll set the time progression to the minimum. As much as I like the idea of starting in the light and finishing in the dark, the headlights on the Capp are rubbish and there is no supplemental light at Toscana so it's literally like driving with a blindfold on. I ran for about 45 minutes last night with the time progression at 1 and it was still quite bright so we should have perfect visibility through the whole race.

I couldn't agree more about the headlights. Plus you have the added distraction of fireworks. Very pretty but very distracting as you do feel compelled to go 'ooooh' and 'ahhh'.

The Cappuccino Lounge is opening now! Bring your mugs out for a fresh refill of Custom Oval!

Qualifying will start at 8:15pm EDT

I'm down to a :47.533. If the likes of Brosif, Wardez or Wiifreak don't show up I might just steal this one! :)

Fun race tongiht, I qualified in 4th and was holding that place untill the 6th lap when my tail end decided to go the wrong way. I lost my place and lost the draft too. I spent most of the race crusing by myself in last place untill something happend to CAMike and I managed to pass him at the end.

Great race guys!! Congratulations to OwensRacing on his first win of the season. I thought this was a very exciting race and hope you guys enjoyed the track. Oh, and DANG YOU DSG!! :scared::grumpy::crazy:

Hehe, you're welcome. And we probably have to thank Cami for orchestrating an exciting finish for us :)

Yeah, I guess the universe balanced itself out in the end. Lol

Good race Owens...35 laps to set up an awesome finish and I completely missed the last corner...lol. Too bad about the brake fail on DSG's part or it would have been a 3 way race for first.

I think he needs to have a word with his crew chief. First the faulty beer holder. Now the stuck brake pedal.

Sounds to me like someone may have poisoned the water hole.

Maybe it's an inside job. The wife and kids plotting against you over time spent racing? ;)
