To me a car creator goes against some of the fundamentals of Gran Turismo. The series celebrates auto manufacturers and their creations - hence the detail, realism, and accuracy that goes into portraying them. Further aerodynamic and body modification would be welcome to me, but a Car Creator does not belong.

The Saleen S7 is said to contain enough down force that at ~ 260 Km/h it produces its weight in down force that if the track went upside down, the Saleen theoretically could drive upside down.

I know that an F1 car with the downforce it generates can be driven upside down at a certain speed if a track would exist where that would be possible to do which doesn't exist, was just pointing out that the cars created by a user aren't having special super-capabilities or possibilities over the other cars in GT.
If the other cars aren't capable to drive upside down because there's no track in GT which allows that the user created cars won't either, same physics engine, etc.

Yes, i see where you are coming from and i agree that it would be very fun to design your own car and have it be able to be shared with thousands/millions of people. the problem is if the physics are implemented, how many people would understand aerodynamics, power to weight ratio, thermodynamics etc? there would be a lot of very unrealistic cars that would not be drive-able in real life

I think you overcomplicate the matter to be honest regarding aerodynamics or thermodynamics, etc. if the proposal I made of pre-made bodystructures and added pre-made parts already made and calculated by PD would be used as a starting point.
I'm not suggesting a full scale real life computer tool to comprehensively build a complete real car from scratch but only selecting or creating within certain limitations like that Sega GT video showed.

A pre-made structure already rules out impossible or unrealistic shaped cars and the physics ( and all the parts which you choose to add ) can be calculated by the game or have been calculated beforehand.
If the ability to alter the selected shape influences the aerodynamics ( which would be accurate ), maybe that too can be calculated in a windtunnel-feature suggesting changes to be made if possible to function properly ( or those aspect are already integrated by limiting the possibilities of altering the shape ).

Just see them as pre-made cars where the physics are already done depending on the type of car ( hatchback, sportscar, racecar, etc. ) and the basic shape, weight, etc.
You can then add things like engines and several drivetrain options ( FF, FR, AWD, etc. ) and mechanical parts which again already are calculated or when made yourself ( like building an engine ) can be calculated by the game.
The rest is just visually styling the car and depending on how that would work or how much you can actually change I guess these can also be calculated for which effect they will have on driving the car ( aerodynamics, etc. ).

Although you're fully entitled to have that opinion and I can see this feature will have consequenses which will have a significant effect and change parts of GT in a way which isn't shared by everyone ( a livery editor already is opposed quite strongly by some so I was expecting this to be even more controversial ) I don't think the fundamentals of GT are actually set in stone.

Creating your own track is a recently added option changing the fundamentals of GT too, and Kaz mentioning in the ModNationRacers video the possibilities of user created content shows he seems more openminded to that concept than some longtime fans seem to be.
Not saying you shouldn't oppose it or feel it doesn't belong by the way but in my view there are only a few fundamentals of a GT game, it being a simulator ( even simulating non-existent designs like the X1 for example ) labelled GT created by PD.:)

By the way, I'm not suggesting I know what should be appropriate in the context of a GT-game or have any clue whatsoever whether this feature even could be possible to implement.
This thread is mainly intended to see if such a feature would be welcomed or not and discuss how it could be possible or how it could turn out if included in the future.
I welcome any opinion to be expressed here, pro or con, any feedback is welcomed.
