I'm not very good at drawing wheels from the side view. It just ruined my drawing of a Lancia Stratos reimaging.

And yes it is a Ford GT from the rear back.

I love the Work and the Tips I've been reading on this thread! I used to draw loads with my friend at school, and now it's been around 5 Months since I last picked up a pencil, so I'll have to get back into it and look through my old drawings!
Inspirational Shizzle right here!! :D

Errr, nice car design...?

My honest opinion: It's a good car design but looks more of a boat.

I agree, though it looks more like a banana with wheels and a roll cage, with other driving equipment. New type of Mario Kart?

Quite a while after I've posted any drawings on this thread, so here they are and updated versions of older ones:

The Ferrari's rear wheel looks like its turning.

The supra just looks the same?

The 350Z is good - just improve your sketching techniques as your lines aren't really smooth, but nice work. :)

It's not that, it's just becaue the rear panel that is directly in front of the rear wheel caves in slightly on the F430, but I've overdone it a little bit on the drawing.

If the panel is in front shouldn't the rear wheel be caving the opposite way?

Edit: all I'm saying is the wheel isn't right, not the arches

Well I'm not going to dread on the F430 too much as it is a very good drawing overall. Although I haven't finished it yet, check out this R35 I'm currently drawing:

Pretty nice, huh?

I did a R35 sketch earlier in this thread, I must say they look quite similar in shape, did you take the navy blue midnight edition as inspiration/reference too?

Edit: I think of you make the car slightly shorter it will look better, as right now the window line makes it look like you could get another door in behind - obviously it's not finished so maybe you would of realised by now

I had no idea that you did a R35 sketch earlier on, I haven't been watching this thread as much. Well I've nearly finished the car itself but I think I might add a moving background/wheels to make it look even better.

Here's a Stance Inspired R32 I did last January, It's one of the only few drawings where I've managed to get the perspective bang on Imo. The wheels are supposed to be Camberd and sticking out with the front wheel slightly turned.
But It's had more work done to it since as it's in a frame! :dopey:
Any Comments welcome! 👍

That's a very good drawing of a Skyline. Speaking of which, I finished mine at last:

As with all my drawings, it definetely looks better in person.

Man, leave the backgrounds out. Just leave it on a plain white backdrop and a drop shadow, because tbh, I can't take your drawing seriously as soon as you draw in grass and smudge in the pavement. If you increase the blacks and reduced the grays, you'd get a much more outstanding picture that looks more professional.

You're close, but if we were to use the rear facade as a frame of reference, then the side of the car is slightly too long, or "slanted" outwards. :)

Your road doesn't really match the angle that your GTR is sitting on..

I like it but I don't think the grass was that necessary. It looks a bit weird but the car's really nice :)

IMO The grass makes it look more realistic and yes the road perspective doesn't match the car perspective but it's closer compared to my other drawings 👍 .

EDIT: I fixed the road perspective (somewhat) and made the darker areas darker so the car stands out more. Will have a revised version up soon.

Thanks For the Feedback! :D I agree with what your saying though, the front looks long to accompany the front wheel, It was alot of detail in such a small space, Needed to be A3. :embarrassed:

Edit: Also Nice Picture MSTER!

You see, I had to draw a background to suit the action picture... I'm also increasing the contrast of the picture and should look better... going to upload it when I'm done.

Very good attempt for someone who isn't into art.

Indeed, pretty good for someone that's not into art pro2k 👍

Nice GTR too MSTER, to echo others, not too keen on the grass either but i think the roof line looks fine as is (don't shorten it), the rear wheel on the other hand, does look a little off.

Nice R32 aswell Blitz, though i agree with AOS, the perspective isn't quite bang on, but not far off.

Myself, i haven't drawn cars in a while (can't seem to be able to turn drawing off/on like a light switch anymore like i used to), anyway quickly did a 20 second (literally 20 seconds) sketch to show how i personally deal with perspective.

I know it's a crappy design, but i did it to show how easy it is to get it more or less right (regards perspective), i flipped the image around in the second pic, if any don't have photoshop (or any other graphics package etc), and for hand drawings specifically... i can't strongly recommend enough by using a mirror to check your sketches whilst doing them to check for perspective errors etc.

[EDIT]

Thought i'd invest a couple of minutes into the above sketch, i think the perspectives off around the windscreen area.. but i'm not too bothered, the car has definitely got a certain 80's look about it.. like i said crappy design.

PS.
Anybody else having problems with excessive processing times when uploading to Flickr?

Guys, I want to draw another car today but I'm stumped for ideas on good cars to draw. I will draw a background on it, but I learned that the first thing I should draw is the sky, and that way I hopefully won't end up with a situation where the car looks like it's doing a wheelie or going on two wheels. I also want my drawings to look more dynamic... I drew the GT-R with moving wheels, but I felt that I could have drawn them better, and I also feel that I exaggerated the shine of the car too much and now in real life it looks like the car is made out of chrome material :ouch: . I want to draw like this (I claim no rights for the following photo, all credit should go to the rightful owner):

Why don't my drawings look like this? Is it because I'm using a crappy scanner? Or do I need to use a wider range of pencils/press harder to make darker tones?

That's a great picture, though i can find fault with the road perspective (but that's just being nit-picky), as for making your drawings look like that, maybe as AOS has suggested, invest in some quality colouing pencils (grey & black tones) oh, and also a fairly solid rubber/eraser (i think that's how the spray technique was created), only other thing i can say is practice, practice and more practice.
I do admire car drawings like that but TBH, given plenty of practice, it really isn't that hard to draw a pic of a dynamic looking car picture that's sitting right in front of you, i'd put money on that pic being copied from an already existing photo of said car.

With age comes experience.I dont no a thing about art but ive done graphics and all i can say is use HB pencils with diffrent broadness and size for those shade and tone effects.

By the way, this is my American concept car:

Rear engine rear drive

The road perspective is actually correct since that picture is at the Top Gear Test Track which is very wide. And by a solid rubber, do you mean a rubber that has gone hard? I could quite easily do the spray I think. I just draw the car normally, shade it in and rub out the areas the spray would reach as well as adding streaks to make it look like water.

EDIT: Ideas for cars anyone? I want to draw a car and see if I can make it photograph realistic but I'm stumped for ideas on good cars... I think I might draw it in the rain too.
