^ That's probably about when I'll be on, around 1pm EDT, after some lunch and Watkins Glenn action.

I'm about 5 laps into the race, I'll be on afterwards...

Watch out for flying bits of delaminated Pirelli rubber! And enjoy the battle between Hamilton and Di Resta starting on lap 37 (I believe), they had an epic throw down for a couple laps.

I'm just finishing lunch, should be online shortly.

Yep, shades of Indy 2005, except far more spectacular to watch.

I'm online trolling some shuffle rooms.

Yeah, the one we were in started with a good host but when he left it went downhill. I have one open now.

Post when you open one, I'm not wasting any more time in rooms with a host of an unknown quality.

I think it takes about 3 votes to kick someone out of a lobby. So if the host is bad, just PM each other & mount a coup d'état! :mischievous:

We didn't have too many issues, but I did have to boot a couple hooligans. Overall though we had some good crowds and clean(ish) drivers, much better than I ever expected in a public room. I've noticed a few repeat Randoms too which is a good thing.

I think this will be a good way for us to keep racing until GT6 comes out, at which point we can get back into something more official/organized. The Academy starts tomorrow and I presume a large portion of people will be occupied with that for at least the rest of the week, once things calm down with that I'll have a new centralized place for us to congregate and organize Spec and Shuffle racing. 👍

It was nice to see some old friends on track this weekend, looking forward to more of that!

I hope you sent a FR to the chat box comedian and his target, please invite them back anytime... lol

 That dude was hilarious and obviously angry with someone. I've seen people get upset with other drivers, but that was certainly clever! Considering the amount of profanity I'm surprised not a single one of his comments got 🤬........he's obviously done this before.

If you know what is and isn't censored, it isn't too hard to get around it.

I enjoyed Saturday's racing (despite forgetting my way around La Sarthe!) and look forward to meeting up again soon. Sounds like a missed some good times on Sunday. :grumpy:

It was more of the same from Saturday except Random1 apparently was done wrong by Random2 and he kept filling the chat box with profanity laced comments about Random2. Things like "Random2 likes to 🤬 little 🤬's in the :censored:ing 🤬" or "I'm going to :censored:ing 🤬 Random2's little 🤬 while I 🤬 with his :censored:ty 🤬 on the street corner." His exit message was "Eat a bag of baby d:censored:ks".

His ID was also 100% profanity. WTFsukmadiq, paraphrasing a little. I even think we picked a wrong man to get angry at. He was clipped by someone else.
Anyway, I'm probably available tonight. Will spend some time looking at gt6 demo after, but I'd rather race online then crank useless laps in gt6/gta.

I knew his name was profane too but I couldn't quite remember it. I kept my eye on the guy he was complaining about and never saw any issues so I presumed it was just a random thing.

I'll be on this evening. They say the GTAcademy thing is going to be a little different this year, more like a mini-game, and I plan on spending a little time with it just to play with the new graphics and physics and Silverstone. I'd imagine I'll be tired of it by the end of the week.

Rather upset I missed the fun on Sunday, and unfortunately I won't be able to join you this evening until later. If you're still on after 10:30 I'll likely be on.

There's much discussion about it. I guess in seasonal events the AI is "dumb" and basically acts like a rolling chicane, while Arcade Mode AI is much more advanced and reacts instead of just following a line. This appears to be a version of the "dumb" AI but I'd have to presume (based in this demo) that the AI dichotomy will still exist in GT6, and that's a shame.

Yeah the AI in the practice rounds of the Academy demo are rather terrible. Very slow so closing speeds are high making line judgement difficult. The download was available earlier for us UK folks than some of the rest of you. :sly:

^Gotta agree with that, I haven't had a need for GT5 AI in quite some time. Still, woulda been nice if it was improved so those rare Aspec/seasonal adventures could be at least mildly entertaining. :indiff:

Agreed. The AI is awful in the Academy rounds - Slow and even slower once you pass them. Considering that the Academy is being touted as a demo for GT6, it's not a very good way to entice new drivers in.

That said, the demo is smooth and I've yet to see any screen tearing - GT5 has this quite a lot on my system.

I think it's a case of Dumb & Dumber! All AI in GT5 is bad imo. And after racing with clean drivers like you chaps, I don't really wanna be on track with any AI drivers ever again, especially in a GT game. That said, I remember the AI in GT5 Prologue could be quite a challenge, there was a slider value where you choose faster opponents or cars I think.
