Cars You Would Never Buy For Any Price

Have any of you actually driven an Aries K? I have, they're not that bad.

Yeah I have, my great grand mother owned one and had it since the day she bought it in the 80s. No it's not bad but it's not anything I'd actually ever pay for, thus not great either.

Bound to happen sooner or later...

Maybe buy needs to be swapped for own. If I am sure I could flip it for profit I would buy it, regardless of how much I despised it.

Dodge Caliber, and it's Jeep cousins however I could not drop in someone's lap with a good conscience.

An Aztec may look terrible but at least it is somewhat reliable...

It's one of the most iconic cars of the Sixties and you wouldn't drive it for your life's worth? Okay, then. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Maybe it's iconic over on that side of the pond, here not so much aside from the biggest car nerds.

And no, I wouldn't spend any amount of my money on one.

I didn't buy a silver Daewoo Matiz (not the exact car above) - I had one given to me. It lasted less than 3 months before a managed to knacker the gearbox. It's the worst car I've ever owned, and still the only car that's gone to the scrapyard under its own power (albeit only in 3rd gear).

It says a lot that it's apparantly the only car I've ever owned that I never took a photo of, given the rubbish I tend to drive.

I don't think there's a single car that fits into this category for me. There's no car on earth that I wouldn't want to drive merely out of curiosity for a start, and since "any price" is an entirely open figure and could therefore include a single, shiny penny, there's nothing I wouldn't want to buy given a low enough price.

Apart from anything, I have a strong desire to turn undesirable cars into trackday/race cars and I see no better way of ending the life of a terrible car by thrashing it around a circuit.
I see your point, but I raise you the 1994 Vauxhall Corsa 1.5D.
See this I don't get at all. You wouldn't spend any sum of money - any - to own the world's fastest production car?
It's just ridiculous grandstanding from the usual suspects who want to prove themselves to be edgy and alternative.

And directed at the wider crowd, this isn't just a thread for posting pictures of cars you don't like. Look at the title - it's cars you would never buy for any price. Pick a car or cars and tell us why you wouldn't even buy them for a penny you found on the floor.

If this turns into yet another "A small bunch of members just aimlessly post pictures of cars for no reason other than to swell their postcount" thread, I'm going to be handing out free deletions and infractions.

Never liked Vauxhalls. Likely never will. I just feel you get better value for money out of other brands.

Allllrighty then...

Without a doubt the WORST GM Badge-botching in history to date. It looks like it cost $20 to build, I've never hear a good word about them being driven, I've seen "brand-new" cars sitting in lots already broken, and on a personal level I couldn't drive past the local GM house for about 5-6 months because of the spontaneous churning of my stomach every time I saw one while driving. Now it's only mildly unsettling, but I would rather have a Gee Wiz, a Gremlin, or pretty much anything else. You could offer to pay me a hefty sum, but even then I'd have to seriously ponder the decision.

Not far behind it:

It starts with "Smart", and divebombs from there. Not only do the cars come across as smug, but the handful of owners I've had the displeasure of talking to only shut up about it when I mentioned making them wear it. They're hideous, they're cramped, because of it's size it can be more dangerous in high speed collisions, and all told the entire Smart lineup I'd rather burn than drive...save one, the Smart Roadster. Id consider that one, but the others I'd have to be paid to drive.

Any Mitsubishi Eclipse.

I freaking called it. But at least by terms of nowadays, I'm not easily as mad and do agree with you. But I would be tempted enough to get a '95 Eclipse. 2005+ maybe but, eeeh. But this..

I'mnot crazy enough to get a 2001 one. Not even spider. Nope. It's so, sooo bad.

👍

*cough* *cough* Car Polls *cough* *cough*

(They don't serve a purpose that two established threads don't already serve.)

I actually had a chance once to drive the second ForTwo. They are actually a decent amount of fun, awful transmission aside. Not sporty in the slightest, but the car tricks you into thinking it is every time you do anything in it. Even just putting around a parking lot was amusing.

Agreed. Enjoyed every Smart I've ever driven. And the new one pictured further up doesn't have a crap gearbox either.

Replace "trackday/race car" with "rally car" and I reckon I could have some fun with one of those.

Given the utter numbness of the engine combined with the 20th Century's worst ever gearbox, I think the only fun you could have with it is crushing it under a tank.

The VN Commodore. May well have been one of the most popular Commies but for me it has no real redeeming features and to add insult to injury, is generally only owned by the type of "Ozzie" whose only income is Centrelink benefits and who rocks up at those appointments with a carton of "VB maaaate"

There are some exceptions that I would take for free if someone offered like Manta i400,Kadett C GT/E, Speedster, Omega EVO500, but I wouldn't like to be seen in them frequently.

Edit: I see most of You are in the same ballpark with those Holden/Vauxhall derivates of the platform.

Do infamous modified cars count? If so...

Known around the community as "Devil's Horns", etc...

I don't generally feel hatred against cars of this nature as it's a natural trade off with the car scene, but this car simply frustrates me to the point where it's one of my most hated cars in existence because of how it's portrayed. The excessive stretch, the wheels, the wing (I understand as to why it is missing the centre), the ethos that it is "a pure daily driver"... I could go on. It just pains me to see such a car being used for nothing but inspirational quotes and Instagram likes.

I could never buy it and revert it to how I'd see fit because to me, the damage for it is done.

Ford Pinto
ford-pinto-04.jpg
Surprised that this beater hasn't received a mention yet. It's a slow and generic looking 70's fuel-crisis compact car. But it's also is a safety hazard; these cars are self explosive. Chances are, if you get rear ended while driving one, the gas tank will rupture, causing the entire car to catch flames. I would never want to own a car that is unsafe and can easily explode like the Ford Pinto.

Russian brand car.
So I guess we're ignoring this now then huh?

Didn't see that post but the reason for why, in my opinion it is an ugly car with it very underpowered for a 1.1 litre engine and I just can't see myself being happy in purchasing it for except for it to be resold again at a profit.

Edit: Plus it resembles the Daewoo Matiz.
