How much does it cost to have an able garage, anyway? I would love to do all my own work (oh, and a house with a garage!)

Camry power makes it no fun, and a bit more difficult to come across. Maybe after I cross the 100K mark and the car starts to depreciate a bit more, I may consider strapping stuff on.

Thats why you swap in some Celica turbo power, simple enough.

I have no clue... What do you mean by able? Heated? Proper size? All the tools? All of the above?

She only has 82,xxx miles on the clock, and I'm not that desperate. Its a good GT car, and overall, it does a great job fitting my needs. To be honest, if the used car market says friendly and Ford makes the right moves, I'm thinking about selling it to buy a Fiesta Sport next year.

Maybe.

RE: Building a Barn

Shouldn't be too outrageous. We actually just built a barn for the Camaro(s) this past summer, hiring out the Amish to construct all of it. I don't think my Dad paid much over $10K, but he never really talked about specifics. But, two and a half stalls, two stories, and double doors make it perfect for working all year. Minus the part that it isn't heated (yet).

Well, heated isn't a concern here. Air Conditioned is. I just meant like well enough equipped to be able to do most of the work on your car.

Damn, looks like your brother got quite the deal on his car too. Thats just awesome!

An amazing deal...$2000. Now we're both jealous of someone. I'm just super pumped that he's giving me those bushings, he say's my corolla needs them the most, and I agree. Anywhere that used to have a bushing, well there is nothing and everything is just loose. Ebay has a set for $425...of course those probably won't ever sell for that much.

He deserves it though, after putting as much money into mine and then basically rippping himself off by selling it to me. His does have a slight knock though. We're crossing our fingers hoping that it's just a lot of carbon built up from the previous owners. Shouldn't get our hopes up like that but oh well.

Where are you finding these cars? I didn't think they existed outside of the west coast!

Funny thing is I saw a AE86 all Initial D'd up the other day. He was riding with a bunch of other Japanese people. There was a Del Slow, a couple EK's and a older Sienna. All borderline rice. But I don't see them that often...

Newer 4AGE on the left, old one on the right. Is it just me or is the oil pan slightly taller on the old (rwd) 4A?

I agree with you! at least in the picture gives the impression to be bigger, which is possible because the engine 4AGE fit various models of Toyota.

Excellent work, I'm waiting for the final version of the car! :D:tup:

I think Takumi did the same in his 86...Nice cup holder you got there, does it take regular or premium size cups?

straight road and he manages to pull that off? that's some serious talent right there. Do NOT let him anywhere near your car.

I was referring to the bad quality picture above the text, and by clean I meant less cluttered. You know, with out the battery, possibly re-routing some of the wiring, getting rid of that stupid AFM.

I could have spent a little longer cleaning the engine, but I really was getting a little anxious to just get the thing in. I had to travel nearly a hour and a half to work on it, and every time I would try and do anything, crap came up and I wouldn't get started till at least 3 hours after I planned to. My main goal with painting the bay was so I wouldn't have to pop the hood and have a red engine bay that stood out like a sore thumb. I do kinda wish I would have went with a gloss black instead of flat black. After looking at some pictures of others the flat black looks like crap after a few miles, and this car will prolly be seeing it's fair share of gravel. The engine does look pretty bad in the pictures, but in person it's not so bad.

You saying you've never scratched your butt then sniffed your finger?

pretty much. here kids aren't allowed to drive until age of 18. I'd prefer that age to be raised somewhere around 21.. I had my close call (gravel road, 50mph, old crappy FWD Opel Kadett and a corner, guess what happened.. first understeer, then lift-off oversteer and consequential fishtailing for a long distance) , and after that I've done my best to drive reasonably.

You know, the age isn't as much of an issue as the experience is? All you'd end up doing is making more 21 year olds have accidents instead of 18 year olds.

perhaps, but 21 years old don't have such a burning need to impress their friends or girls. I still do think that government should provide a dieselpowered 2-stroke moped car for the first two years for those who have acquired their license, so they can accumulate experience without getting into trouble.

They don't? I'd easily get into trouble with a diesel 2-stroke moped car though.
Good suggestion, let new drivers sit in a tin can that goes half the speed of everything else so they are overtaken by everyone making dangerous situations on the road.. Good suggestion indeed....
