Challenge Me!

sucahyo
Yes, its my skill :). Even with 150.000 credit limitation, that car is fast.

It's also unstable and needs to be tamed a lot when you've got all that power. The standard GTS hasn't got the advantages of an Oreca, which is lighter and features a higher redline. The Oreca whips thru the All-Stars way too easily for my taste, tho. Then again, you can't enter an Oreca in this contest so I'll just shut my mouth :D

Yeah, it takes awhile to get that skill. I've been doing Playstation racing sim games since October 2003 now, and I don't even consider myself to be an expert. But I am good....that's all that counts-being good and enjoying the game.

Hey, anyone tried my two chalenges ??? (look up 3 posts)... would like to see how difficult these were for you guys....

Oh, and I'm not too far from you Parnelli.... I am currently living in Fredericksburg VA just to your south.

Both my challenges involve more driving skill than tuning, although the Storia challenge required a bit of tweaking to complete. The other is with a stock Puma, so its all about skilllzzz!!

Oh Jmac? Looks like you finally have a victim :D

Yes, ummmm, a ,ummm , victim... yeah, thats it. Go ahead and try the Puma challenge.... I dare you.

Someone said theis thread needed someone to take over from its daddy, so here I am!!!

GT_Beat, I can't reach your time at super speedway challenge.

I must say that, finding the correct assumption for how damper value work, 10 is softer than 1, and knowing how real life damper work, stiffer front make understeer, is really helping my tuning in a big way. I can reach ace driver lap time just with my tuning :) !

Jmac can get 5:56.xxx on redrock, but considering different skill we have, I think this is good enough :D . Previously, with a huge effort, I can only reach 1.10.9xx laptime, but now I can reach 1.09.xxx easily ...........

MacRoadster
I don't think Spoon has much understeer, considering it's a FF car... and it's easy to give it more oversteer ability with some suspension tweaking.
To me, the Integra is one of the most fun FF cars to drive, and a fast one too.

Also, in small MR cars like Europa, i like to have some understeer or else it's quite easy to get a spin with them. If you like small MR cars and don't like understeer... hmm... that might be a dangerous combination...

I also prefer oversteer but i like it more when mixed with understeer... :)

I have heard this idea before but don't know how you do it, nor what you mean by mixing the two. And why would you want both at the same time? How is it even possible?:boggled: Sorry, I am kind of a Newby here at GTP.

He's talking about tuning. In a lightweight mid engine car like a Lotus, you'll always have plenty of oversteer, espcially when you boost power. You'll pretty much wind up just taming it by doing tricks to the suspension & brakes & differential like: lowering the rear and raising the front, boosting the differential rates (any of them...initial, accel, or decel), boosting the front spring, stabilizer, or damper rates, etc. Any of these tricks will yield more understeer, but if you drive hard enough you'll still get some back-end oversteer as well, which at times is desirable.

Whatever happened to Mac anyways? I miss the guy.

Thanks! So what your saying is that ie. the Lotus GT1 (which ,btw, I was testing last night) has alot of oversteer, but when tuned right it can actually become a car that understeers unless you push it to the max and then you start to get the back end around and experience a little oversteer again.💡 I think I understand the basic concepts but didn't know how you could have both available on the same car at the same time.:) So thanks, it seems to make a little more sense.👍

Yes, that is exactly what I'm saying, Stingray Man. Go to the tuning section of this forum (GT2 tuning or whatever) and check out the setup thread. I forget what it's called but Minus B started it. Try all three cars (mine, Sucahyo's, and Minus B) at Red Rock and feel the extreme difference.

I'll try that, in the mean time this is what I did on other civic

Done, I think the goal should be 1:10.xxx, since I able to reach 1:11.xxx with my bad driving skill.
