HOLY DUCK!!!! So GM Design's VGT is 2 CARS?

4 VGT for the next update so far. OMG my heart fainted.

EDIT: Nope. The Chapparal does have a Chevy badge on it. So yeah same car.

I think we're getting three this month - Subaru, Alpine, and the Corvette. It appears GM is using it's individual internal brands to get more designs out - according to the article, it's set to release during the "holiday season", which sounds more like December, at least to me.

Also, something caught my eye in the trailer... The sheens and textures from these shots didn't seem quite perfectly real to me... So I questioned if they were actually 3D models:

Then I saw this one, which you can clearly see the polygons in the larger circular bits:

...So I think about everything in these kinds of shots are high-quality 3D models... The question is, who's are they...?

If they are or can get into PD's hands, this could mean we'll be getting a premium line-up of Chaparrals alongside the VGT...

They are 100% sure 3D models, but I don't think they are PD's. Plus we also don't know how complete they are. If we do get them though

1 vacuum fan per wheel I think.

Another one of the helmet thing, looks like it's a bit different to the teaser picture, looks like the pilot will actually be able to see where he's going now.

Yeah once I saw the "Historic Teaser" video I saw that pic in the video where that had the bits from the first teaser photo. Still excited nonetheless! A Chaparral 2X Corvette?! YES PLEASE! :D

I think they aren't PD's because of the giant wing from the 2E/F

Unless they are PD's and are deciding to premiumize and add new chaparral models alongside

They might be computer-created 3D models, no? Either that, or they took the time to film the real cars in a beautiful environment like the one in the trailer...

By the way:

Worldcarfans are suggesting debut at the LA auto show.

Confirmed:

The full-scale representation of the car will be displayed by Chevrolet at the Los Angeles Auto show, Nov. 21-30. It will be possible to download the Chevrolet Chaparral 2X VGT during the holiday season as a part of the Vision Gran Turismo cars in Gran Turismo 6, allowing Gran Turismo users to experience the performance of a car that overturns the concept of modern race cars.

Did not see this coming at all. Can't believe the roll we've been on for two weeks in a row now with this news. That has got to be a record from PD. Feels like we're being stuffed and thanksgiving isn't even here yet.

Can't wait to see this car, looks amazing.

Well, Worldcarfans nailed the full reveal date, didn't they? :odd: LA week can't come soon enough for me, I really want to see the finished product without the cover. Fun fact: this isn't the first time GM launched a concept in LA with the Chaparral badge:

Say hello to the Volt, GM's 2008 LA Auto Show Design Challenge entry. The 2X is the comeback kid, my friends. :sly:

Ah the early days of aerodynamics  They ran the win on the wrong way round. If anyone has any basic knowledge of the aerofoil shape they would know that a lower pressure needs to be created on the underside of the wing so that it would pull the wing down. That win is generating lift

Also, wasn't the wing a movable aerodynamic device?

Call me an idiot, but wouldn't having the wing that way round successfully create an area of low pressure underneath it? Isn't that the way/angle most aerodynamic parts (splitters/wings/canards) are?

That is, like this:
car travelling left, downforce surfaces this way around /
car travelling right, downforce surface this way round \

Surely that'd push the wing down and force the car onto the road.

After looking at some images the actual cross section of the wing looks to be aerodynamically neutral (More of a teardrop shape than aerofoil) but it's angled to create downforce, I don't know how the wing moves but I imagine once it straightens up it is low drag without creating downforce or lift because they cancel each other out.

I will be honest, I do not really care about the vision but if the next update brings an update to chaparral cars to premium, I will be very very happy. although I won't hold my breath with this possibility.

The front wheels seem show some similarities with the design they're about to unveil soon... Or are my eyes cheating on me?

Well, they might have some similarities, but I don't think they are the same type of wheels. Of course, you should expect some minor references to past designs here and there in the VGT world...

My mistake. I thought it was Aerofoil shaped.

The wing would be in a neutral position like it is in the photo when travelling in a straight line, but then tilt nose down rounding corners :)

We need every single Chaparral in game!

Especially, the premium upgrades of 2J and 2D! :(

That's what I said in the suggestions forum.
There's about 10 cars in total (13 including variants), so it shouldn't be such a hard task to undertake. Plus, consider how unique they all are from one another
