Lack of space and the fact that I don't want a divorce meant that I had to make a stand that was collapsible and could be packed away easily. I had intended that the pedals were to be mounted on the angled support that holds the top part up, but it wasn't comfortable - so on the floor they went.
The stand just clips onto the coffee table and is real sturdy. The material used was 18mm MDF.
I got some non-slip matting from a mobile home (caravan) store (used to line drawers) and glued it to the bottom of the pedal support so that it stays put on my tiled floor.

Hi, well it is quite heavy, I suppose it weighs around 10-15Kg (22-33lbs).
The weight and the width make it very stable under any circumstances.
I screwed rubber tap (faucet) washers to the base to prevent it from marking the table and to stop the wife from complaining.
There's a hook type of arrangement to hold it to the table at the front and a block to hold it in place at the back (see attached photos).

p.s. Anyone notice the rubber protectors on the corners of the table on the original photos? - stops child brains from getting on the wheel.

i did this cockpit with a file cabinet. i took off the drawers and placed these woods under for stability and put some screws in there so it held tight the wheel and now it dosnt move at all..it looks small but its actually big enaugh to have ur legs and foot in there. if u wanna stretch buy a lincoln.
and its a bit low, but it's fine i mean...its really getho

This is easy to make!!! and fun, 10hp per sticker!
Parts needed:
3" wood screws
2 2"X4"X8'
stickers of your choice!!!
It makes the experience more fun, and the steering wheels is easier to control

yeah get off den's back. have fun. if someone takes a seat cover and puts it over any random car seat, they might call it a racing seat. remember these are cheap cockpit alternatives, if you want to go on bashing other peoples creations do it elsewhere. MOST of us are all here to learn from each other, not show-up and humiliate each other.

My coffeetable's still pretty new, and I'm trying not to scratch it up. But with my current set up, I have to put it off to the side and don't get to use it. Luckily there's no S.O. to complain.

Here we go with an updated post of my prototype: it's heavy, big but working perfectly...

I did a modification on a cheap controller to have the feeling of a real gearshift and handbrake. I also put a big and easy-to-reach reverse button...

I went down to a auto interior specialist and told him what I was doing .
He sent me up a ladder to get a seat, there were about 100 and a I picked a sports car looking one and he sais it's yours. Free, it was kinda brown and tan so it's not the coolest looking thing but its solid and clean.
I have the ECCI peddle set which rocks.
I am currently having a frame welded which will support the wheel by attaching to the chair frame and coming up between my legs with Jergins push pins to change the height.
I have 2 Roland studio speakers and a Sony 34 inch HD 16:9 monitor, a RGB cable for PS2.
I love all the setups on here.
My main issue is making sure my setup is rock solid, no sliding or moving of pieces.
will post pics when I get finished.

It's a replica of a real '90 Miata cockpit (exact measurement). I'm 5'10 tall (1,79m) so it's normal my knees are near the steering...
I'm using velcro to "stick" the dashboard...
Soon a real old Momo wood and aluminium steering wheel...

And after that, I'm doing the good-looking-aluminium-frame-with-no-more-wood version with a small bodywork.
