... there can never be enough Minis to look at! đź‘Ť

Raduno-Mini-001-1024x682.jpg

More than 16 on this grid. :)

This looks great! If I get a chance to play on Wednesdays I'll look you guys up.

Good specs for the Mini; I built one up earlier and had a run round Deep Forest Reverse.

I know you are early days, but have you thought about throwing a Mini Marcos race into the mix? Great fun car.

Hope this goes well, and maybe see you on the track one day đź‘Ť

Hi Woodski,
Great, hope to see you! Yes, last week I was re-introduced to Deep Forest Reverse, it's a great track. I found out I totally forgot it lol. I need to practice before next week. :)

I have played with the Marcos a bit, I like that car as well, maybe in future we can have a mixed night. I seem to recall that it was a bit quicker than the Cooper in GT6, I want to make sure it stays fair. :)

Yes, DF Reverse flows nicely.

I was thinking a one make 'support' race with the Marcos if you had the interest, obviously. Haven't directly compared the two cars.

Oh ok, I'll keep that in mind for a future night. I'll setup my Marcos when I get a chance to these specs and run some laps. :)

Hi Wayne,
Thanks for the positive words.
Last week was the maiden voyage for this group and we are still fine tuning the parameters. Hopefully having 12 in the room will be fine, 8 seemed to be fairly solid according to everyone. ;)
Would love to see your real life Mini, please post a pic in here if you have one, there can never be enough Minis to look at! đź‘Ť

Look forward to seeing you there on Wednesday.

Mik

Here is my Mini, Alice....Alice Cooper. Got her in Aug. 2004 and it's the longest I've ever owned a car. 67 Innocenti Mini Cooper built in the Fiat factory in Milan, Italy. Same as the British except for some minor trim mods and badging. I can legally enter Italian Car Shows and my Pink Slip says Fiat. The gauges are in Italian too. No gas for Alice...she drinks Benzina and massages her innards with Olio according to the gauges. To stay cool, she reminds me on the Agua gauge.

68 year old GTP Geezer Club member and still having fun. I have a button on the dash that describes both me and "Alice"....

"I may be getting older, but I refuse to grow up!"

See you Wednesday Mik.

Out of curiosity I ran a Marcos on DF reverse at the same specs as your Minis, obviously you need a good chunk of ballast in the Marcos to reach the PP. I did a quick setup in the same style as the Mini I tested and the Marcos was around 0.7 slower than my best Mini lap.

Not a lot in it, although I did fewer laps, the Marcos gears were a slightly too long and it understeered under power a bit more than the Mini. Not a thorough test, but the cars might prove close enough for a mixed race... or you could of course run them at a different spec in a one make. Use or ignore the ideas as you wish .

Hi Wayne,
She's beautiful! Thanks for posting.
Nothing wrong with staying a kid.

Can't wait for Wednesday :)

Thanks for the info Woodski.
I'll work on my setup as well, I like to test my Minis on Tsukuba, since I can pull the most consistent lap times there. :)

Great name. :)

I can see why you have kept her so long, it is a lovely looking Mini.

She definitely is "The Italian Job". Although I expect those Benzina stations are hard to find. ;)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm hoping to make it on Wednesday, so I've been adjusting my setup by raising the ride height.
I've turned it into a Minster Truck!

Speaking of great names, Minster Truck is perfect. What is underneath there? 4wd and V8? Very cool!

:D I'd better put you right - It's not mine, it's just a picture I found on the net! I saw it and I thought, wow it's a "Minster Truck" :P

I would love to own it though - it would get plenty of attention!

It's from this site. Scroll down toward the bottom of the page there's loads of really interesting Mini pictures! Look out for the Turbonator.

Thanks. Still a great name though and still funny. I looked at that long line of Mini pics. Lots of variety for sure. Turbonator is amazing. I'm going to look for videos of it online.

Here is the drivers' stretch limo for the pits Wednesday.

Calling all "Classic Mini" enthusiasts!
If you have a soft spot for these cars like we do, then join us for some clean, fun and close racing.

We expect racers to be familiar with the GTP OLR, and be gentlemen (and ladies) and be respectful to other racers at all times. Voice chat will be enabled and "friendly banter" is typical, but please try to keep excessive background noise to a minimum, especially during races (mute yourself if necessary).

This is a casual format, running about 1.5 to 2 hours so you are not required to stay through all races. We will post an agenda in this thread each week which will outline the races, they will be a mix of set tracks and voting. We will also host some longer endurance races once in a while, which will require signing up.

Default Room Setup
Room Name: GTPclas6-MINI 1998-ALL WELCOME

PP: 435
HP: 135
Tires: Sports Soft or less

Penalty: Strong
Visible Damage: Off
Mechanical Damage: Off
Boost: Off
Grip Reduction: Real
Tire Wear/Fuel: Fast (discourages drifting)
Slipstream: Real

Nitrous: Prohibited
ABS: Optional
All other aids off unless specified otherwise.

Start Type: Grid start with false start check
Grid Order: Slowest first

Currently our rooms will be set as "Public" and welcome all skill levels.

So pull that Mini out of the garage (or go buy one), tune it up, slap some fresh paint on it and join us!

We are affiliated with the GTP Classix Club, you can check out other great racing clubs there.

I got your thread from Sick Cylinder.

I'm new to online racing and wondering if I can come along tomorrow and try out at the mini racing.

I have read the gtplanet online racing regs and will be as gentlemanly as possible.

I have a headset but no mic. I'm on the case for sorting this out.

Very much looking forward to being able to race with everyone.

BW

Ps sorry about the null post earlier!

Great, welcome. Sure come on out, mic is not mandatory, many don't have one.

Hi FergusMik

Thanks for you reply.

Can I just confirm EDT is actually 5 hrs behind Uk as we're in British summer time (BST). My iPhone says NY is coming up for 5pm now and it's nearly 10pm here?

Very much looking forward to my first try at online racing tomorrow evening with my mini.

Thanks

I thought I would throw a tune out there for some of the newcomers, I'm currently using this on one of my Minis.
I left out the transmission since that can be a personal thing, and there are many different ways to set them up.

Last week was great - hopefully I will race again tonight. The following is the cutaway Mini at the Science Museum in London - I used to enjoy looking at this exhibit and it was just like my Mum's 1959 model (except her car was complete). The mechanic who looked after Mum's car used to play around with Shorrocks centrifugal superchargers - I don't remember him doing a Mini, but he did have a Supercharged Ford Anglia and a Supercharged Austin 1300 which frightened her silly when she had to borrow it when the Mini wasn't ready in time!

Try the room on 16 for this week FergusMik - 12 isn't going to be enough (you can always trim it back next week if there are problems and kick anyone who is suffering from a laggy connection!)

Kick anyone who lags? Why kick anyone which is lagging in a race?

Sadly because there is a problem with start procedure, more drivers stuck at black screen, then there is often white smoke behind laggy driver....
We have lag problem with mate from Japan last Friday..we wait for him to rejoin few times and restart PS3 but no luck..
Whole room was unstable... shame that we are in 2014 and cant play smooth enough with all mates arround the globe.

It happens the same in Australian lobbies...
