CLASSIC RACING - Sundays 17:00-19:00 BST - CONGRATULATIONS CHAMPIONS Flaco & Lex LathorFinished

Hi If - I know you already have a Ferrari 250 GT so, yes that would be best for you for rounds 13-15.

It would be helpful if you could change the colour of your Lotus Elan as we had three dark green ones - white, orange, black or silver are available I think.
My post has been edited to reflect the car & colour changes.
Update

Hi Flaco - great driving to get your third place in the "Corvette v Cobra Series". The main Classic Racing thread has now been updated and explains the car choice based on previous championship position.

The Practise day on 8th June will feature short races and will enable people to try out their cars before championship racing re-starts on 15th June.

I´m not too sure as of yet which Corvette I will use. I´m concerned with the weight advantage the Cobras have, they seem to be über-dominant. You are aware you technically could demand that Cobra drivers must use more weight, you can check it before race start from the lobby under the "members"-button.

If I chose the C2 road car it will be Daytona Yellow.

Lotus Elan - Lotus Yellow

E-Type for Classic - Silver

The Cobra and the Ferraris have a weight advantage over the Corvettes and the E Type Jaguar, but each Driver will get three rounds in the Cobra and three rounds in each of the other cars so it will balance out over 12 rounds.

I don't want to ballast up the Cobras because we did that in our previous championship - now with all the weight off, the car is transformed into something very lively and you can now use the excellent tune by the great Mr Praiano.

In testing I found the Corvette C2 Race Car to be faster than the C2 Road Car, but it is difficult to drive and even top tuners have admitted defeat when trying to tame it - there are no good tunes for it online. I will be using the C2 Race Car when it is my turn because it looks and sounds awesome.

Cobra Corvette Ferrari Jaguar.jpg

In the Cobra Ferrari Wars event we replicate the 1963 battle at Brands Hatch between GT Cars - Cobra, Corvette, Jaguar, Ferrari (we are sadly missing the Aston Martin DB4GT from our grid).

In the real event a horde of Ferrari 250 GTO's and Jaguar E Type's battled a sole Cobra 289, Corvette, Ferrari 250 GT and two Aston Martin's - it was the start of the Cobra Ferrari Wars. By 1965 the Aston Martin's and Corvette's had gone, replaced by TVR Griffith 200's. The Cobra's were now a horde battling a lone Ferrari 250 GTO and a pack of Jaguar's.

Join us as we re-live the golden age of GT Car racing - FR's to Sick_Cylinder

Yup, currently on the Race Car and it is very very frustrating.

After last Sundays season break for testing...

Lotus Elan - This is a fun little car. My setup was already quite good I thought - Arrakis. I could just about keep up but I couldn't catch up. So I tweaked the way I achieved the power slightly (185bhp) and altered the gears - which gained 1 to 2 seconds. Strangely, I found switching to the standard diff helped me also. Eventually I gave in and fitted it with RH tyres (from SS) and after a further few mods it's now 5 to 6 seconds faster!

BMW 507 - Another good setup -Arrakis. Already a nice car to drive and it's quite quick. A few further gearbox and differential mods have helped a little.

Ferrari 250GT - This was nowhere near competitive on Sunday. I didn't know what was wrong with it. I later found out I was using a bit of a mixed up setup. Partly new and partly from the classics series - so lots of weight and not enough power. :dopey: So after a lot of serious engine mods (twin turbo) it's quicker. It's also been on a strict diet (just a shell now) so it's much better around the corners. 👍
It's still got quite "lively" handling though and those Cobras seemed to be all conquering though - so we'll see. Tune again by Arrakis - although I've just noticed it's been redone, so I'll have to give that a try.

And the Senna WSR - Well you just keep your foot to the floor it that. ;)

I must get my Cobra "unleashed" next. And also that Corvette C2 Race Car - there's a challenge! It's quite "fun" as it is, but probably not in a race. :scared:

"Racercad Jaguar takes wide line." Ha I was probably crashing, or at least getting out of the way.

I have to admit that I bought those cars the morning of the session and tuned them as we practiced.
Worked ok for the Jag, and the Lotus, not so good for the Cobra, I was late to the party for sure.
Thanks for bringing some historic racing to GT6, they need the help.

See you next Sunday.

Thanks again for the shoutout! Slowly working through many of the classics and updating them. Stay tuned!

Sick, I have all cars ready. Ayrton Senna Tribute is an championship? If it is, then the tunning in F3 is prohibited, right?

Yes - we are using the Senna cars untuned - this is to save people time. It is a championship, rounds 13-18 using the Senna F3 car and rounds 19-24 using the Senna F1 car restricted to 800bhp.

Hi Feydrautha - is there any chance you could have a look at the Corvette C2 Race Car? - at the moment I am using the Praiano Cobra tune (superb) and I am able to match the Cobra's lap times with the Ferrari 250 GTO using the Arrakis Speedshop tune. But at the moment my Corvette C2 Race Car is about 3.5 seconds a lap off the pace - which is a long time over 12 laps! I have tried the Motor City Hami tune, but it hardly seems any quicker or easier to control than my own efforts - I am trying maximum downforce on the front and minimum at the back to try to get it to turn.

Harsk - For Cobra Ferrari Wars Rounds 13-15 your car choice is Ferrari 250 GTO OR Ferrari 250 GT OR Jaguar E Type. For rounds 16-18 your car choice is Corvette C2 Race Car or Corvette C2 road car.

You can use Mercedes Benz 300 SL for World Classic Cars - I know you have been wanting to use that car.

Short races as today is a practise day - Brands Hatch GP 1980's circuit plus trial mountain, and Willow Springs.

NB Championship racing starts on Sunday 15th June at 17:00 BST.
Sick, can I use the 300 SL for next 2 rounds? Is because I'm following the 3 rounds per car.

I will check it out tonight if I can. I typically avoid race cars because the aero does things to the suspension that I don't quite understand.

Car Choices
World Classic Choice.jpg

Sadly ZuluWraith is taking a sabbatical from Sunday Racing due to other commitments, but hopefully he will be back in due course - I am sure we all wish him well and it is a shame not to have his excellent photos.

Flaco, Lex and Racercad had chosen Jaguar E Types, but in view of their being 4 types of car currently unchosen I requested that Racercad choose another car for rounds 13-15.

Cars currently unchosen are: Pontiac Tempest GTO Le Mans (we know this car is a winner - when driven by Flaco) there is an excellent tune for this car by Over the Hill Outlaws - copy on page 1 or 2 of this thread.

Shelby GT 350 (a winner in the hands of Harsk).

Corvette C1.

Ferrari 250 GT Or Toyota 2000 GT (the reason for the choice is because the Ferrari is 7.5m credits and the Toyota offers a lower cost, but slightly slower alternative - but it was fast when driven by Flaco!).

STOP PRESS - Racercad Toyota 2000 GT.

STOP PRESS - Emo Mercedes Benz 300 SL - Silver.

I am waiting for car choices for rounds 13-15 from Smiley and Max - hopefully we can get as many cars as possible in use.

Cobra Ferrari Wars Choice.jpg

The car choice is based on the finishing order in the previous Cobra v Corvette Championship.

Where I am aware that drivers are Ferrari owners I have assumed that they are choosing the Ferrari in preference to the Jaguar E Type. If they would prefer to use the Jaguar please let me know.

With the absence of ZuluWraith, I regret any inconvenience for Racecad, but to maintain balance I have moved you so that you do rounds 13-15 with a Jaguar or Ferrari 250 GT, rounds 16-18 with a Cobra, rounds 19-21 with a Jaguar or Ferrari 250 GT or 250 GTO and rounds 22-24 with a Chevrolet Corvette C2 Race or Road car.

If people have any queries or information regarding their car choices please let me know via GT Planet Personal Message - this should help reduce clutter on this thread.

Anyone wanting to join the series please send an FR to Sick_Cylinder - all are welcome. Meetings are held in a public room, but any racers not registered as friends will be kicked.

My next choice for rounds 16-18 is Pontiac Tempest GTO. Rounds 19-21 will be the E-Type and 22-24 will be the 2000 GT.

For Rounds:
13-15: Jaguar
16-18: Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Race Car'63
19-21: Jaguar again
22-24: Cobra

PS: Why do you want to kick the racers that aren't friends?

Thanks for your car choices Harsk.

It is normal procedure to kick non-friends from lobbies during championship rounds because they can interfere with championship results and no one knows about the quality of their driving.

We are now using public lobbies because the connection is more reliable, but we cannot afford to risk interference with the championship by uninvited drivers.

When I went to lobby in Sunday, you were talking in mic. Who was the person who has talking in mic with you?

Anyways, although my PS3 is sick, I'm going to race in sundays so I can keep fighting for the title.

Hi Sick. So you can update your classics car list in advance...

Rd 16-18: Corvette C1
Rd 19-21: Pontiac GTO (The cab)
Rd 22-24: Jaguar E Type

To keep it simple from now on, all my cars will be orange - My new "team" colour (until I get fed up with it).

Because unfortunately I had to miss a few races and therefore "reused" my GT350 when I jumped back in, if anyone wanted to use my car choice for any of the upcoming rounds, let me know and I'd be happy to swap to another one. There's always the Merc I could also use.

It's a shame the Ferrari GTO is 20million! Although I have quite a few credits I don't do any "grinding" in the game, so it would take me some time to recuperate the money again via time trials. I should have bought it when I did the money "glitch"!! I didn't get any of the cars Sick's picked. :grumpy:

I don't know why we can't use any car within the game without having to purchase them. Whats the use of having 1200+ cars when a lot people don't get to drive the expensive ones? I've already paid for the game, I'd like to have have a go in all of the cars please PD!!

Sorry moan over. ;)

If anyone has 20m credits credits spare, but not 27.5m credits spare - my advice would be to buy the Ferrari 250 GTO so you can use it for 3 rounds (you will also be able to use it again in the future) - it is difficult to drive, but capable of lap times almost as good as the Cobra.

I don't think the Ferrari 250 GT is better than the E Type Jaguar so probably not worth buying unless you have spare credits and / or are planning to use it soon in the World Classics (as it is faster than the Toyota 2000 GT).

Harsk - apologies for talking on the mic last Sunday - I was talking to Emo and Max - to check who was in room and ready etc. There will be less talking during the proper races!

Just like I chose yellow as my "team" colour. ;) But there will be exceptions, I don´t like the idea of driving a yellow E-Type, for example.

If you want my"cab" tune just PM me.

I can't reach 844 kg with my E-Type :(

The Cobra and the Ferraris have a weight advantage over the Corvettes and the E Type Jaguar, but each Driver will get three rounds in the Cobra and three rounds in each of the other cars so it will balance out over 12 rounds.

I don't want to ballast up the Cobras because we did that in our previous championship - now with all the weight off, the car is transformed into something very lively and you can now use the excellent tune by the great Mr Praiano.

Hello guys.
Last few days was a jungle...at work.
Sorry for waiting Sick.
Round 13-15 will use GTO and Jaguar.
;)
