CLASSIC RACING - Sundays 17:00-19:00 BST - CONGRATULATIONS CHAMPIONS Flaco & Lex LathorFinished

please remember RACE ALONE :)

Thanks Lex - I will put it on my reminder list! I will also try to remember to take my pit stop!

Unfortunately the 1.05 update has spoilt the race alone qualifying by displaying ghosts when previously it just displayed the rear lights of the cars. Hopefully PD will remove this unwanted feature as now, during qualifying there is a sea of blue ghost lines on the track which is very distracting.

My Corvette has the colour "Championship White". So it's white.

I think this championship will probably be between Lex and Harsk, but I have no favourites - may the best driver win and may all who compete, no matter how fast or slow, enjoy their racing.

Race Report - Willow Springs - 1959 Corvette Racer Concept

1st Makovics
2nd Flaco
3rd Sick Cylinder

Sadly many drivers experienced connection problems, however the cars looked and sounded good and there was some close racing, particularly at the front of the field.

Willow Rehdogg Corvette Racer.jpg

Above Rehdogg in black helmet drove very well, but sadly did not finish any of the races due to connection problems. Drivers with connection problems will be awarded points as if they had finished the race in last or joint last place.

This is our first championship on GT6 and so far connection problems seem worse than with GT5.

Race Report - Willow Springs - World Classic Cars Championship

1st Makovics - Jaguar E Type 1961
2nd Lex Lathor - BMW 507 1957
3rd Harsk - Shelby GT350 1965

There was a wide variety of beautiful classic cars - only the Ferrari 250 GT and Corvette C1 were missing.

Below Birdseed follows a train of classics in his Jaguar E Type, including (in order) Mook Toyota, Max Mercedes, Sick Pontiac, Emotional Corvette C2, Flaco Mercedes, Lex BMW, Makovics Jaguar, Harsk GT350.

Willow Max merc & Mook Toyota.jpg

Many drivers were caught out by "Terrible" Turn 9 which leads onto the main start / finish straight, but above Mook loses control of his Toyota while trying to match the Max Mercedes.

Below Max succumbs to the curse of turn 9.

Willow Harsk GT350.jpg

Harsk was the class of the World Classic car field leading almost every lap in his stunning looking Shelby GT350 and slicing through the backmarkers (below lapping the Birdseed Jaguar).

A mistake at "Terrible" turn 9 cost Harsk the race. Above he recovers to finish third behind Makovics white Jaguar and Lex Lathor light green BMW.

Sorry about the connection problems, no idea why it's happening :/ and thanks!

I hope it is not caused by my Broadband provider - if so I will need to change, but the fact we didn't have many problems with GT5 makes me think it is a Sony / PD issue.

Yeah that must be it (Sony/PD), because with other things it runs just fine.

Hi everybody, thanks for allowing me to participate. I'm still having trouble keeping my cars on the track, so I apologize in advance if I slide into you!

Good luck tomorrow, everyone.

Hi JBaffoh,

Welcome and don't worry there are a couple of us who are new and unlikely to be at the front of the pack. Speaking personally it will be nice to have somebody to race with for 15th place and a mixed ability field is a good thing for that!

I'm not sure who else finds it intriguing that Deep Forest Raceway is based on a now dilapidated racing circuit that hosted races until the 1970's but for those that do here's an interesting link to the real track with some information:

Further interesting discussion on this:

See you there!

Sorry. I know I bumped somebody in my godawful '59 Concept (I'm struggling to tune it), and I totally blew Sick off the track when my Art Morrison spun out in the last straight in the early laps.

The biggest disappointment was the middle race, for which I have great tune for the detestable C1 Corvette! That's the one race in which I actually had a chance. Judging by the two blue lines in front of me, I was qualifying third when a power flicker shut down my PS3 and prevented me from getting back in the room for the race. Grrrr.

Harsk is definitely fast. He also has a lot of lag, judging by the middle race I observed. That mustang looked like stop motion photography compared to the fluid movements of the others.

I'm looking forward to Leguna Seca, and then switching cars. It's a little ironic that I've hated every Corvette I've driven in real life, so I have never driven one in GT5 or 6 (except when required). And here I am assigned to race 3 of them!

Hopefully I can tame the '59 concept before next week and improve the Morrison a little. I think the C1 is as good as I can get it, but that's not saying much. But most importantly, I hope I don't take anyone else off the track with me!

Yeah this lagging spoiled the last race for me because I was behind him but couldn´t see anything other then smoke going zigzagways leaving me "guessing" where to go, then in lap 10 I think, he caused Sick Cylinder to spin and as I was taking course towards Sick, his car still as ghost, I could only hope it´d stay as ghost so I could drive through. But of course right when I was almost "in" it, it changed back :(. Wasn´t anybodys fault all that, though. Let´s just hope there will be no lag next time.

P.S. this honking before race start is really annoying, not just in the actual race but in the replays also.

Yes I was following you and there was certainly a lot of tire smoke in front of us. In the lap 10 incident all I could see was smoke and cars flying everywhere. I aimed for the middle and hoped for the best - and managed to come out the other side unscathed!

It is a little isn't it. I must admit I'm occasionally guilty. For peace and harmony I'll cut it out.;)

This was my first online race. How do we get the replays? Was I supposed to save them after each race?
I'm afraid that you are supposed to save them. I did save save them all but I don't think there's a way to send them to you - unless anyone knows different?
I'll grab some pictures and post them up sometime soon.

I got dropped out of the server for the Classic (middle) race. Very annoying. I've got a 7 million credit Ferrari and have yet to race it.

I won all 3 races on Deep Forest. So I get 25 points each championship.

The toughest was the World Classic because Lex Lathor had BMW 507 very fast but it was a great fight...

Congratulations Jbaffoh and welcome to the wonderful world of online racing! You don't have to save replays, but if you do, you can review the footage from your own and other peoples cars and also take race photos. Simply click on the red button which appears after the race. Race replays can be exported onto a USB memory stick then sent to friends via GTPlanet using a file sharing service - you should be able to find out more by searching this site.

Congratulations Harsk - you were flying on Sunday - three races, three wins!

Unfortunately Harsks connection was lagging causing his cars in races 1 and 3 to fly all over and sometimes above the track! He put in great performances in qualifying and the races to claim three wins. Race Reports to follow shortly.

The grid lines up ready for the start - Bill Mitchells design is beautiful, but the cars were tricky at Deep Forest.
There was some close racing as you can see below

Race Report - Deep Forest - Cobra v Corvette

1st Harsk - Corvette
2nd IfAndOr - Corvette
3rd Lex Lathor - Cobra

Harsk qualified on pole with IfAndOr second. Harks connection was lagging with the result that his car appeared to be all over the track leading to an incident on lap 10. Sick had opted for a later pit stop than other drivers and was therefore leading the race when the faster cars approached from behind. The lag caused Harsks car to bounce off the cliff setting off a chain of collisions and much smoke!

Flaco approaches the tunnel in his grey Cobra and collides with Sick who restarts, but with damaged steering crashes in front of Flaco again!

Flaco crashes into Sick and IfAndOr approaches the smoking tunnel in his Corvette resplendent in red primer.

With smoke still lingering in the air, third place finisher Lex Lathor approaches in his Cobra.

Great shots as always IfAndOr! Just imagine how the shots could look even better if age relevant helmets and race outfits were available in Gran Turismo.
Hey man, I said that my car for round 4-6 will be changed. I'll drive BMW 507 instead of Chevrolet Corvette.
