CLASSIC RACING Sundays 17:00-19:00 GMT: "Ford Ferrari Wars" LEX CHAMP by 1 Point!Finished

So what's a 1:32 worth around Monaco? (For Ford Ferrari Wars)

That's a good time.

All Racers please remember the time change from BST to GMT - this effectively means the meeting will start an hour later than normal as 17:00 GMT is an hour later than 17:00 BST - apologies for this - the whole of the UK has to change time for the sake of a handful of Scottish Farmers who complain about the light!

Please note 6 minutes qualifying before each race and we will try pit stops again - 1 compulsory stop per race.

And I thought the US was the only country left with idiotic time changes. They make no sense whatsoever.

Dear Scottish Farmer: The light is still there, and your crops don't watch a clock. Get up a hour earlier or work an hour later if needed for planting or harvesting.

We change time too tonight at 3.00am.

Tomorrow 17:00 GMT then.

Tyre wear - very fast?

Yes - tyre wear very fast.

Many people were hoping that the Scots would vote for Independence so that we could scrap this ridiculous time change once and for all.

The number of car accidents in the UK rises massively as soon as we revert back to GMT because suddenly most people are returning from work at night and they aren't used to it.

Dear all.

I'm sorry but I need to leave the FFW series due to family reasons. :guilty:

I've already apologised to Sick by PM.

Just wanted to thank all of you for accepting a newbie so readily and giving me an amazing intro to online racing. :)👍

I'll still be around and be popping up from time to time like the proverbial bad penny. :sly:

Have a great time at Cote D Azure.

Suts:cheers:

Good luck for the future and come back whenever you can Suts - also try the other series in the GTP Classix Club (if you haven't already tried them). There are some great series run by FergusMik, Bergele, Smiley, Jocke and CCR just to mention a few.

Race Report Cote Dazur
A return to pit stops and a return by Ryan Racer - both were successful!

Historic BSCC
1st Smiley - Renault 8 Gordini
2nd Pimiki - Mini
3rd Rehdogg - Renault 8
4th Lex Lathor - Mini
5th Flaco - Buick Special

The huge Buick Special was at a slight disadvantage on this tight, twisty track - Renaults and Minis splitting the first four places, Flaco the first Buick home in a valiant 5th.

Ford Ferrari Wars
1st Lex Lathor - Ferrari 330 P4
2nd Makovics - Chaparral 2D
3rd Ryan Racer - Ford Mark 4
4th Smiley - Chaparral 2D
5th Sick Cylinder - Jaguar XJ13
6th Pimiki - Cobra Chromeline (Fraissinet Mortemart Replica) - 1st in Category 2
7th Rehdogg - Cobra Daytona Coupe - 2nd in Category 2
8th Flaco - Corvette C2 Race Car - 3rd in Category 2
9th Maximusmonster - Cobra 427 (Hugus Jopp Replica) - 4th in Category 2
10th Racercad - Cobra Daytona Coupe (AC A98 Sears Bolton Replica)
11th IfAndOr - Cobra Chromeline (Sanderson Bolton Replica)
12th John Wells - Chaparral 2D
13th Danielsspel - Cobra Daytona Coupe

Great to see Ford on the podium in the skilled hands of Ryan Racer. The Chaparrals slipped back at the start. Sick was a bit of a mobile chicane in the Jaguar lapping slower than the fast starting Lex and Ryan, but was trying to score a podium at this tricky track. Makovics came past first and passed Ryan for second place. Smiley took longer to pass Sick and pulled away, but by then the gap to the leaders was too great.

An enjoyable race which demanded full concentration and lapping of the slower cars added to the adrenaline level. Below Lex leads into the first turn from Ryan (Ford) and Sick (Jaguar). In this shot you can clearly see Ford's joke at Chevrolet's expense - the Ford Mark 4 was fitted with Chevrolet Corvair tail lights!

Caterham Cup
Ryan qualified on pole, but had a slightly slow start. Makovics blasted off the line and into the lead. Rehdogg, Flaco and Ryan went into the first corner three abreast. Rehdogg tangled with Flaco who was pushed wide into the luckless Ryan whose car was then collected by the closely following pack. A shame as this incident spoilt the race for Ryan and several other drivers - some regained their rhythm, while others struggled to find their former pace and consistency.

1st Makovics
2nd Flaco
3rd Rehdogg
4th Lex Lathor
5th Smiley
6th Pimiki
7th Sick Cylinder
8th IFAndOr
9th Danielsspel
10th Ryan Racer
11th Racercad
12th John Wells
13th Maximusmonster (Retired)

Caterham Cup Incident.jpg

Above - start of the first corner, first lap incident which marred an otherwise excellent Caterham Cup Race.

Next Round - Suzuka for the main event "Ford Ferrari Wars" and Suzuka East for the support races "Historic BSCC" and "Caterham Cup". If anyone wants to join this series contact Sick_Cylinder.

Ah I didn't realize I caused the crash at the beginning of the Caterham race. I don't really remember exactly how it went, but it seems it's my fault from that pic. Sorry about that ryan, I'll try to be less aggressive next time

No problem, it was bound to be all Makovics's anyway. He is really fast!

He is indeed fast, just wished he would be more patient when behind others to find a cleaner way to overtake.

And guys please stop with using the horns when its unnecessesary. Sick already mentioned this issue earlier. It is so distracting at the starts and is a pain in the behind when watching replays.

Yes - horns are supposed to be reserved for letting the driver in front know that he is about to be lapped - purely a warning therefore no offence should be taken when the horn is used for this purpose.

I can't use it however because I don't know which button is for the horn!

Looks like Monaco was a good event. Sorry I missed it. If anyone could send me the qualifying and results then I'll update the Jack Sears Trophy for it.
Can't wait till Sunday. :)

Car of the Week - Ford Cortina Lotus Mark 1

We desperately need this classic saloon in GT6 - BSCC winner (1964 Jim Clark), ETCC winner (1965 Sir John Whitmore), Trans Am race winner.

Please vote by clicking on this link:

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/lotus-cortina-mk1-1965.299293/

I found this great period colour film of the incomparable Jim Clark racing the Cortina at Sebring - the first half is a saloon race, then Jim pits himself and the Cortina against a field of Ferraris and Cobra's in the Sebring 12 hours - great stuff!

Ok, I'm back! This will be my first XJ13/Buick/Caterham race. Perhaps I should pour some vino and figure out how the Special works.

Landed few hours ago in Japan.
Cars survived the flight well, weather is nice.

Lots of spectators waiting for our races today :):):):)
Flags are already waving, mostly Lex and Flaco`s fans.

Sick was already here, just saw his cars in pit.
Lex and Flaco unloading car trailers right now.
IfAndOr is taking pictures, Suts is talking to mechanics....
Pimiki and Makovics are on the track right now. What a noise
Can`t see others, probably surrounded by press or girls...never know:D

👍 Classic Sunday 👍

No more Fords or Minis for me. Next round I'll only be using the Chaparral.

EDIT: If this is not allowed, then I'll just wait until the last 5 rounds to use the Chaparral and Gordini.

I blew it.

I didn't realize the main event was on the main course--which I hadn't driven in weeks. In fact, in my first practice lap, I turned at the cutoff for East, and ran into the wall!

I made it to the first corner in second, closely chasing a P4 Ferrari until I dipped a tire into the sand at Denker, and spun out trying to get back on the track. I had fallen to around 12th. A few laps later, I reached 5th and was closing on Sick. Then I spun out again! I spend more time off the track than on.

Mako and Lex lapped me and I intended to make room, but I timed it wrong. They would appear distant in my mirror, then close, then distant, then "thud!" I'm sorry if I made passing difficult.

I also blew it because I forgot to save the replay. Love to see some pics.

I hate the Special even more than the Gordini--even my sailboat turns better. Gotta work on that. And I finished with 3/5 front tires. Ugh.

Love the Caterham on that track, and qualified with a 47.4xx, but there was a ton of lag in the first turn. I felt in control and ready to pass a couple cars, when suddenly I was deep in the sand. I had no desire to finish at that point.

Sick, we had a time change last night so the races are still at 9:00 am according to our clocks, but my internal clock still thinks it's 10:00. Much easier!

Edit: One more thing: Please turn off the mics! They attenuate the sound of my engine and tires through my surround system, and they're very distracting. It actually sounded like someone was giving birth today.

You can turn them off aswell. Go to 'members' and click on each player and press 'audio-off' if available, if its not it means the person doesn´t use a mic. I usually turn everyones off except Sick. But I agree however it would be best if everyone just had them off, at least during the quali and race, with the exception for in/out-pit. Btw, I´m sorry for not anouncing my pit stops anymore, my headset is broke ... well I broke it, a good while ago ... I´m working on my temper, I promise! :D

Thanks! I did not know that!
