Just a quick reminder that we change cars at this round (6). If you are unsure what your next car is, there is a guide in post 1, page 1 one of this thread. Anyone currently in a Renault 8 Gordini will be switching to a Buick Special. Anyone in a Buick Special will be switching to a Mini. Anyone in a Mini will be switching to a Renault 8 Gordini.

There will be no pit stops and tyre and fuel wear will be set to fast not very fast. The 2 support races (Historic BSCC and Caterham Cup will be a Trial Mountain), the main event (Ford Ferrari Wars) will be at La Sarthe 2005 no chicanes as this is closest to the track layout used in the 1960's. We will try Historic BSCC without qualifying this week.

There are some vacant spaces this week so Reserve Drivers are welcome to attend.

Good luck to all Drivers and I hope you enjoy some good racing in your new cars.

I'm now off to pick pumpkins at a Farm which offers different colours, sizes and shapes - I didn't realise you could get pink, white, blue or green varieties and naturally the children and grandma now want some!

Race Report - Round 6: Trial Mountain / La Sarthe 2005 No Chicanes / Trial Mountain
You missed a good meeting RacerCad - there were wins for Lex Lathor (Mini) in Historic BSCC, Makovics (Chaparral 2D) in Ford Ferrari Wars and Rehdogg in the Caterham Cup.

Historic BSCC
The Buick Specials of Flaco, Daniel and Sick used their torque to blast off the line into an early lead. Lex Lathor (Mini) worked hard to find a way through and was going round corners with front tyres smoking. Sick fell back through the field from 3rd to 8th as his tyres wore and he made some inevitable mistakes.

1st Lex Lathor - Mini
2nd Flaco - Buick Special
3rd Daniel - Buick Special
4th Maximusmonster - Mini
5th IfAndOr - Mini
6th Smiley - Renault 8 Gordini
7th Makovics - Buick Special
8th Sick Cylinder - Buick Special
9th Rehdogg - Renualt 8 Gordini
10th Tony Lomas - Mini

I've attached a link to an interview with the Great "Gentleman" Jack Sears and interestingly he describes how the NASCAR spec Holman Moody prepared, John Willment entered Ford Galaxie which he used to win the 1963 BSCC had a clutch that was not strong enough for standing starts so he had to baby it off the line. The Mark 2 Jaguars of Graham Hill and Sir Gawaine Baillie got off to an early lead, but the first time he applied all 450bhp on Silverstone's straight he was able to sail past into the lead. This interview is well worth a read!

Ford Ferrari Wars
The Host made a mistake with the qualifying setting - it defaults to qualify together when the sensible default would be to qualify alone. Rather than lose time resetting we completed a single qualifying lap very carefully. The Chaparrals (Makovics and Smiley) got off to their usual slow start. The very powerful Corvettes are quick off the line and Flaco put up a strong challenge in the early laps, but had to stop for fuel whereas the other cars just managed to complete the 25 minutes (7 laps) without stopping. Maximusmonster was driving a Hugus & Jopp 1963 replica Cobra and like them he was frustrated with it's low top speed. Sick lapped Max and caught him at the far end of the Mulsanne straight, his Jaguar XJ13 over taking at 196mph to the Cobra's 161mph. IfAndOr was driving a Sanderson & Bolton 1963 replica Cobra, but retired with technical problems. In the real race in 1963 it was the other way round - the Hugus & Jopp car retiring with a Conrod through the Crankcase and the Sanderson & Bolton car winning its class, much to the pride of Team Manager Stirling Moss. Today was somewhat different - the class win went to Flaco in the Corvette with his team mate Daniel second in class. The overall win went to Makovics in the Chaparral 2D - a fine performance.

1st Makovics - Chaparral 2D
2nd Lex Lathor - Ferrari
3rd Smiley - Chaparral 2D
4th Sick Cylinder - Jaguar XJ13
5th Tony Lomas - Ferrari
6th Flaco - Corvette - Category 2 winner
7th Daniel - Corvette
8th Rehdogg - Cobra Daytona Coupe
9th Maximusmonster - Cobra (Hugus & Jopp Replica)
10th IfAndOr - Cobra (Sanderson & Bolton Replica)

Above the Hugus & Jopp Cobra number 4 putting on a great show at Le Mans in 1963 before it retired with a blown engine. Today Maximusmonster raced a replica (number 41).

Above the Chaparral 2D driven by Phil Hill and Jo Bonnier in 1966 chased by a Ferrari and a Ford GT40 before its retirement on lap 111. Today Makovics scored a win for Chaparral chased home by Lex lathor in the Ferrari.

Caterham Cup
Back to Trial Mountain for the frenetic and close action of the Caterham Cup with a great win by the very talented Rehdogg.

1st Rehdogg
2nd Lex Lathor
3rd Smiley
4th Flaco
5th Makovics
6th Daniel
7th Sick Cylinder
8th Maximusmonster
9th Tony Lomas
10th IfAndOr

Next Sunday 26th October: Round 7 from Cote Dazur (Monaco)

I might missunderstand the expression you used but Makovics was actually never chased by Lex. Lex was in the the lead throughout the entire race, Mak however, got closer and closer until Mak benefitted from two Lex-mistakes on the last lap which made Mak pass Lex just yards before the finish line.

Great performing Makovics. I feel honoured that I was 'allowed' to overtake you in Lap 1 past Arnage for a brief moment there in my Cat2 car.👍

I love the Corvette, even her 🤬 sides. But I´m not sure I will keep on saying this after Monaco :scared:.

Thanks Flaco for clarification - I did the report while it was fresh in my mind, but without the benefit of watching the replay.

Time Change - Important Information

All racers please note that UK Summer Time (BST) ends on Sunday 26th October 2014. That meeting will therefore start at 17:00 Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) which is one hour earlier than normal. Meetings will commence at 17:00 GMT until BST commences again on 29th March 2015.

Hi Sick,

I might miss this weekends race as I'm away. I hope to get back in time but I'm not sure yet. Please put my grid slot up for a reserve driver and I'll only race if I'm back in time and there's space.
(Sorry Team Sears)

Whitmore Tribute Poster.jpg

Team Whitmore are closing on Team McGovern. Above a tribute to the BSCC (1961) and ETCC (1965) champion. Sir John's yellow 7 litre Ford GT40 Mark 2 being loaded for the 1966 Le Mans, Graham Hill's silver version already on the truck. Sir John retired from professional racing soon after.

Car of the week - one which desperately needs your votes and would be a valued addition to the game - the 1966 Le Mans winning 7 litre Ford GT40 Mark 2.

Note - there are plenty of vacant slots for Reserve Drivers this Sunday, don't forget the change of time from SST to GMT and don't forget to change your car for Historic BSCC and Ford Ferrari Wars if you haven't raced for a while - there is a handy guide and track list in post 1 on page 1.

Anyone wanting to join the series - all ability levels are welcome - contact Sick_Cylinder

Hey Sick, I know it's been a while, but I thought that since it says you're accepting reserves at the top of the OP you'd let me in. So, can I be a reserve? Pretty please? :(

Yes - You're welcome Ryan. I know the time doesn't normally suit you, but maybe the switch from BST to GMT this Sunday will help?
