How do I do a High Dynamic Range shot?

Say it in stupid as I am stupid when it comes to photoediting.

Combine multiple exposures into one, you could do that in Photomatix, Photoshop, etc. There is a way to get Photomatix for "free", which doesn't include piracy. But I'd probably violate the AUP by going further into that.

A HDR (or High Dynamic Range) image involves taking the same photograph three (or more, depending on how many exposures you want) times, once underexposed, once overexposed and once at the correct exposure. Fusing the three exposures using the HDR function of Photoshop or a dedicated piece of software like Photomatix combines the tone information of all three images to result in an image with a 'dynamic range' (the amount of data between black and white) far greater than can be achieved with a single image. Used properly, they can be stunning :)

Sixtoes explained it far better than I and also included a handy tutorial here: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=186834&highlight=sixtoes

New to this editing business, seeing if this one works :nervous:

PM tips are very welcome 👍

Is Adobe Lightroom considered a valid photo manipulation software?
I am getting it to use in a photography class I have this semester, and I think it would work well.
It is basically Photoshop, without the stuff that would allow you to do stuff like swap people's faces and add graphics and images.

Sorry for adding to the pile of enquiries..... new comp and all :) though I just felt I needed to ask if we can remove or modify license plate(s) a'la 2.0 competition rules allow?
Maybe included with the "not adding body sticker/modifying" rule as this also stands in 2.0 though plate removal is allowed but not quite clear in the OP for 3.0  Any clarification much appreciated 👍

If it changes the photo in any way it is classed as photo editing.

Why not use a combination of Photomatix, Lightroom and photoshop?!... :D

Super excited to see what people can come up with for this 👍

Very nice, don't know if mine can hold up to such quality :nervous:

I hate to quote things like this:

# No full-size images posted in thread; your entry will be ignored.
# A preview image is not only allowed, but encouraged! However, preview images can not exceed 500 pixels in either direction. This includes borders or drop shadow effects.

Also in the op it says that you cant add stuff out of GT5, therefore I dont know if the smoke is allowed.

FINAL ENTRY

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is my final entry, sorry for double posting btw. To be honest I dont like the 3.0 as I wanted to add a full bodykit, some livery etc.
And it just feels like I didnt do any "Photochoping" at all. But thats just my opinion :indiff:

Lightroom is A-OK. As is Aperture, for the Mac users out there :P

Hmm, I suppose that would be alright! I didn't even consider licence plate removal, but I guess I'll allow it if the 2.0 comp does!

Also in the op it says that you cant add stuff out of GT5, therefore I dont know if the smoke is allowed.

If your image already has smoke in and you want to enhance it a bit, paint on a bit more here and there or something like that then I'm okay with that, but if you're adding tyre smoke to an image that hasn't got any then I'd tend to shy away because that strays away from Enhancement and moves squarely into Manipulation.

Remember the 3.0 is supposed to be conceptually similar to the 2.0 (in that it is a photography competition first and foremost) but with the editing freedom of the PS comp. Don't worry though, the regular Graphics and Manipulation categories aren't going anywhere :P
