i guess it's safe to say that it's a mixed media? since the mini is actually a model car, with bits from the actual gt5 car, and the background is from gt5 as well.

What time is the deadline. I know it's for the 11th but it's been the 11th for 16 hours here. Just curious by the way.

just enter. there's a gtp tradition that if the host hasn't closed it yet, it's still open :D
just sayin'.

I'm also in Australia, I tend to try and close off the comp around Tuesday morning/afternoon. It's hard to put a proper number on it because the person choosing the Top 12 is the one who will come in and 'close' the contest. I don't say the 12th in the thread deadline because I believe the majority of entrants are in a timezone which may not have reached the 12th yet when the comp closes. :) That way, if I say the deadline is the 11th, nobody who reads the thread will come back to the thread believing it to still be open but miss out on it.

So, in terms of hours remaining, I'll probably send off the PM to Raphaele before I go to bed tonight, and the comp will close sometime between 8-16 hours from now. If you haven't got your entry in yet, do so now! :P

Pumped this one out in a few hours for this comp.
All hand drawn, hb and 6h pencils.

I woudln't think that'd be eligible for a couple reasons.
1. Didn't use anything to edit it with.
2. It's quite unfair for those of us who can't draw a straight line, where as we can do everything in photoshop, it's just learning it.

Alright, someone asked in this thread if they can hand draw their entry and they could. But its cool if its not eligible.

Yes it can be hand-drawn.
"Turn your GT5 shot into a piece of art.
Manipulate, paint, spray, draw, erase – anything allowed. "

Your entry may be a sketch or painting.
You have to post the original GT5 image for demonstration and comparison.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding this.

A hand-drawn entry is fully eligible.
Nobody is forced to use an image editing application in this competition.
Those of us not capable of drawing a straight line may use any eligible tool.
This lap our theme is "ART" ...

Well, ordinarily, Photoshop is a requirement of the Photoshop comp, but as this week's theme is a bit different and more open than usual, I'm happy to let a hand drawn entry in a bit as it's more about creation of artwork this week.

Of course, if CCXRacer wanted to take the opportunity to photoshop it a tiny bit (paint some colour or something??) it'd remove any doubt :P (don't feel like you have to though, just a suggestion to avoid any controversy~)

Anywho, I'm off to bed - hopefully I will be putting up the polls in the morning!

I'd think drawings would be technically eligible since it was told that they can be hand drawn. It's really up to the judge to say whether it is or isn't "fine art".

My opinion on the Skyline drawing though is, you should have done more, maybe a hand drawn background(maybe something you can't get in GT5) and maybe added color to it, whether in photoshop or on the paper itself. That would have made it look fantastic. It looks great as it is though still. Just one guys opinion.

Sorry, didn't mean to cause a fuss. I wouldn't have entered this if it was any other theme, but since someone asked if they could hand draw one I figured why not. As to the fairness, I think it's fair for this theme, I mean I see alot of 'shopped pictures make it into art comps, no reason it can't be the other way around for just this one.

As for adding color and such, I wish I could believe me but I can't afford a Wacom pad or anything like that.

By now the competion is closed.

I made my decision. Thanks to Revolution who suggested to extend the poll from 12 to 20 I'm happy to give additional eight artists the chance to gain public votes. I am sorry that eight of you won't come into the poll and one had to be disqualified.

I had to award 20 out of 28 entries to come in the poll.
This was very hard and painful, but I came to a decision.
Picking the Top Ten wasn't that hard, but assigning the last 18 vacancies to 10 tied candidates – it took my blood, sweat and tears…

I awarded three points each for these categories:
1. creative idea (3 points)
2. uniqueness (3 points)
3. decorative attraction (3 points)
4. manual and technical perfection (3 points)
So the maximum can be 12 points.

In my opinion every entrant of this competition has proved to be an artist, honestly.
And I'm proud of that mind-blowing result of the theme, in spite of some oddities.

If you have any questions regarding my judgement feel free to contact me via PM.

Being the judge is great, but not fun only...
