No really big surprises here, other than the 2.0 result. Congrats to everyone who made it and good luck for the next round :)

you think so? I would've bet my money on a few here.

But now, Nicknamealguem has more time to care about the organisation, hehe:lol:
Thanks for hsting this btw. You're doing a great job week for week:tup:

Well, I guess I have. :P

Anyhow, I would love to read some reviews about my shot, why did I got such a phew votes, is it too dark?

Thank you everyone for voting for my Spec II Ford GT ;)
didn't quite expect to make it to the next round, but somehow I ended up with the most votes :ill:

As per request ;). I'm not as good at identifying PMC entrants, simply because it's harder to portray a particular "style" within the confines of GT5, but it arguably made voting more honest. Here we go!

Nicknamealguem - Kicked off the first bit of PMC with what would be a lot of darkness. It works here, though - an extreme angle really makes the Scooby imposing, just getting a hint of the exhaust too. I wouldn't be opposed to a bit more light, though!

nismo33 - Elements of realism (the left side of the car), mixed with some muddled sorts of reflections in the front. Would've been a lot easier to swallow if the shot were zoomed out; when it's cropped so tightly, the eye almost immediately heads for that middle section.

Soloracer3 - A bright red Italian in the countryside? Glad someone else thought to use the big Maser, as it's very photogenic. The sense of speed is great, and it looks like its trying to out-run a fast-approaching storm 👍

gottago2 - Too dark for my liking, but the front of the car is suffering from over-exposure, which is hugely distracting in an image like this. The rest of the image is very dark, so I don't have anywhere to look to draw my attention away from that burn. I think the more widescreen 16:9 ratio would've helped out more too, increasing the "width" of the shot and adding to a sense of speed.

ThaSyn - Sad RX-7 is sad? A risky shot, and while I sometimes am all for them, I just wasn't feeling this one. I feel like 2.0 editing is needed to really make that tiny bit of car pop without over-doing, but sadly, PMC limits it.

tonilleshusband - I almost want to say "easy", if only because all the elements of this shot are all there to seemingly attract voters in droves. This isn't an insult! It's a fantastic shot, showing all that's possible in straight-game shots. Nice highlights, bursts of colour, a properly-exposed sky, a dark track to really focus the eyes on the Ferrari - this is the kind of shot that sells games, folks!

ashes619 - A surprising one, this - I don't normally associate sepia shots with you, Ashes. The fuzzy bokeh really works for this, letting the user focus on the wide, low stance of the race car, with the Lexus logo right in the centre to drive the point home.

Aderrrm - A very good idea, including the background like that. The full-size appears to show a car slightly out of focus though, and I think had you panned further up, to show less sky and more track, it might've worked better.

Gtuned - It's funny, two of my favourite shots in both polls are of the LP640; I guess people got tired of the 670, and like the (relative) subtlety of the "lesser" car. The colours, the reflections in the rims, the proper focus, the little bits of yellow that serve as contrast - this all came together fantastically! One to watch going forward...

Boabdulrahman - Again, I want to say "easy", if only because the idea of a symmetrical X2010 tunnel shot seems like one of those ideas we've all had. But it's pulled off so well! It's so aggressive, so insect-like, it just looks pissed off. The framing is does nothing but help as well.

Apperosio - Chrome works on very few cars, but due to the nature of this shot, I'm not that bothered by it, as it's almost downplayed. A simple, straight-forward shot, the depth of field is spot-on, and the front end being in such sharp focus really lets the user take in all the tiny details this car has!

Chad D. - One of the most realistic shots, in my eyes, in the PMC poll. I don't even mind the red wheels or carbon hood since it looks right at home, in its natural habitat (even though it's actually Eiger). Rare in the sense it uses Panning Mode 2 instead of the more common 3, to good effect. Surprised this didn't take in more votes!

AaronCarlsonGt5 - Nothing inherently wrong with this shot - nose-shots of a car drifting are kind of hard to mess-up, but I think the amount of exposure added in to counter-act the warm filter hurt it, as it just appears to "glowing". Zooming out a bit to get the whole roof of the car in might've worked nicely too, what with the background being so over-exposed.

sar593 - One of those times a perfect focus might've been detrimental! I like the wobbly semi-focus; it looks like a track side attempt at catching a car that's moving far quicker than expected. The important bits are there though - that face is in sharp focus. The black and white only enforces this, as colours would distract from the fact.

Jason_B - I didn't think the colours of Monster would work so well on the C6! But they do. Only didn't get my vote because the composition could have been more imaginative. Whether sticking it to the left, or right, or leaving it in the centre and zooming out, something about it just didn't feel "right".

ijkhk4 - People are wising up to the fact this is one of the best Standards to shoot. Looking utterly at home on the 'Ring, the rumble strips do their primary handy job in photos - leading the viewer's eyes through the shot. It adds that feeling of intensity, like the 320's going to be heading right for you. The right exposure and some soft warm light on the car cinch it for me!

steelersjazz - That little bit of over-exposed track down in the bottom right actually works, as it's like the shot fades into the background (when viewed full-size). The car is "climbing", portraying that sense of effort for speed that race cars need. The colours are subdued without being boring, and the ads lining the background actually really play nicely with the similar colours of the Cusco. Disappointed this didn't make it!

GOTMAXPOWER - Like I said in 2.0, heading off track in a believable way is hard in GT5... doubly so for people working within PMC constraints. Those tires kept looking "off" to me... which is disappointing, because much like like benmastaw00t's 2.0 shot, this really does feel like a legitimate shot of real-life F1!

725 - The only shot I could guess the creator for! It's a typical well-rounded shot; good colour, nice depth of field, the focus in all the right spots, and giving the car enough breathing space for the viewer to gain context from the surroundings. Watch out for this guy...

Murcie_LP640 - That is one of the best locations on Cape Ring for shots, and this just cements that. The winding road, the valley to the left... it's picturesque, for sure. Despite being an RM, the Challenger looks at home, with a clear view of that ribbon of tarmac lying ahead, ready to pull a Vanishing Point sort of drive...

atlop - Woops, sorry - I did guess this one as well, but wasn't sure if you had returned or not! The older generation Celica rally car was one of the best-modelled in GT4, and this one continues that in GT5. A simpler shot (perhaps that's why it didn't get a lot of votes), the background is downplayed so we can focus on the tiny details all over the Toyota. I like it a lot!

DigitalBaka - My general rule with extreme-angled shots, is that if I feel the need to have to turn my head, it might be over-done. Obviously, it's on a per-image basis, and sometimes, an extreme angle won't get me feeling that way, while a lesser one, due to the composition of the whole image, will. This is one of those times where I instinctively started to turn my head. The car doesn't have enough breathing space on the bottom, and appears slightly out of focus (the door mirror seems to be the focal point). The glow from the sky isn't bothering me, just the angle, sorry!

Lellep - Looks like the end of a late-evening test session! The rumble strips again suit their use of directing the eyes, even while being out of focus thanks to the contrast between them and the road. The warm evening lighting is another great aspect 👍

Mudklipz - The colours are great, the composition is good, the focus is spot-on... but I couldn't shake the feeling that because of the low-zoom, the fisheye effect has distorted the Z into a sort of bug-shape!

Ph1mar - Another "end of the day" feeling shot, which works well with the theme provided. The low depth of field, and the right kind of lighting (how it just picks up the edges of the exhaust) is what made this one for me. And 50 other people!

ziggedzag - Ah, the Alfa sure looks amazing in black, huh? One of my favourites from either thread - the little bit of lighter sky outlining the back portion of the car, the absolute right depth of field to get me to focus on its face, the low angle exaggerating the wide stance, the little bits of lighting coming off all the bright-work. Awesome!

Great review SlipZ, a pleasure to read it. Thanks for the kind words on my shot, but obviously i was wrong choosing it :banghead:.I feel that i had other shots that would have made it.
At least i have some experience now for the next tournament.
Good luck to all who made it for the next round. I was impressed with the level of the pictures here, great work everybody.

I thought yours was very good. Better than the red Maserati even.

Really? Thanks man! :D Though I personally think that that one got the amount of votes it deserved, because I think its a good shot myself.

Thanks for the review :D I have no idea what your saying about the panning mode 2 and 3 thing though, lol, unless you mean making it wider by using the setting in the options for the camera, then I know what your talking about, I actually did take one like that, but I used this one instead.

Thanks for the review SlipZ :D I really appreciate it 👍 I'm glad I entered this shot now even though when I sent of the PM with each passing day until the poll my confidence in it dropped massively

Ph1mar, it was a close one all the way, well done on the win this round 👍

Thank you for your review Slipz, I also want to thank all the people who voted for my picture, didn't expect it to get that many votes! Finally, I wish everyone good luck in the next round! ;)

Wait, Apperosio did not take that last shot (Alfa Romeo @ Tuscany)?

:P

Hehe! Nope. Not this time :)
To be honest, it did cross my mind to use the Alfa on Tuscany for this comp. But then I thought it would be nice to try something different.

Thanks for the very positive comments Slipz. Any critique can be learned from but when it comes from someone knowledgeable and whom you respect, it really can give a lift.

Thanks to all who voted, hopefully there is better to come.

Thanks to SlipZtrEm for his kind review of the pictures, the participants and the people who voted, and of course to Nicknamealguem for taking the time and effort to make this possible.
