Go ahead then, ask an experienced photographer.

If I knew any, I would.

Also, you have inadvertently insulted Sixtoes photo as well, since it is facing "the damn sun".

How have I? His shot works with the idea, it's not just a snapshot that causes half the car to be lost in the shadows for no reason. His has been done on purpose.

Holy hell, I thought you were a lot more mature than this by the way.

I don't see any signs of immaturity in my comment. I'm giving feedback on the photo, I'm not resorting to calling people names or being vicious, I'm just telling it how I see it. It's a poor, poor effort.

I'm well within my rights to not like it and as far as I'm aware, it's not against the AUP to post your opinion on a photograph.

"What the? How the hell is that California shot winning?! I'm fairly sure if you asked ANY photographer to judge that shot they would consider it very, very poor. Hell, even my mum thinks it looks terrible and she has no idea about photography. The car is far too dark, the background is too busy, the composition is very very generic and the sky is bright white instead of being balanced like it could have been had it not been taken facing the damn sun!

Some people on here need their eyes checking, I swear. Or at least their monitors calibrating."

Are you saying none of which I highlighted doesn't sound the least bit rhetoric, or naive for that matter?

I wrote what I felt with passion, none of it is rhetoric IMO (people will take from it what they will, that's their consideration not mine) and it's certainly not naive. Besides, neither of those are against the AUP and if you have an issue with them, that's not my fault.

If you feel I've broken the rules or been offensive, report the post and the moderators will take care of it but I don't think I have and if it turns out that I have then I have no problem with apologizing.

lmao. Let's just scrap this week's contest and start over. 💡

And yes, I think that California is horrible too. It looks totally separate from its background. Not to mention the car itself is just hideous by design. What were they (Ferrari) thinking?

For what it's worth, my vote went to the Maserati in front of the Colosseum. The image has a real passionate feeling to it, the ruins of a classic historic place reflected in the car choice; a modern classic with real drama and elegance.

Not wanting to get involved in a slanging match but it does seem there are a lot better shots in the poll than the california & i too was surprised to see it winning. Makes me wonder if its a photo competition or a popularity contest

I picked the Delta for the exact opposite reason. Almost everyone else (including me) went for a sleek and sexy shot, where as that shot is brute and utilitarian. It's a nice change of pace while staying inside the parameters of the theme and using a less than obvious composition.

Which Delta, the S4 or the Integrale? :P

I feel the same as the most here! The California isn´t a GREAT shot! Its really a snapshot-like picture. At least in my opinion.....
But if the majority here likes it the most and gives it their vote, it deserves the win. Regardless if its good or bad.
I felt pretty much the same with some other pics in previous weeks. But...thats the way it is.

oh, and I gave the Zonda my vote! The only vote for it btw.
Don´t know why noone voted for it, but I think it is a well made shot that presents the Zonda pretty good. One of the best designed italien-car and simply a BEAST! And the picture gave me exactly that feeling, nice angle on it and a great sense for the speed/power!

Btw, is the world record of the Zonda still current? 6:27 on the Nordschleife I guess?

Agreed. As to the pic, it's not that bad yall. I don't think it's the best, but at least it isn't a steering wheel from a car that doesn't even meet the criteria.

Honestly I was just happy to make my first poll! I liked my shot (Ferrari P4 330) but just had to vote for that sweet closeup of the F40 from the front.

I feel like there would be less complaining if there wasn't a competition at all

If there would be no competition..sure! It would be like its in the GT5 Photomode forums.
everyone can post, regardless if its a good or really bad shot. But only the good shots get feedback. The bad shots...well you probably gonna scroll over it! Right?

I kinda like the comps, they push you to get better! :)

Edit: wait wut? How is the california winning? That picture is so meh. One of the worst in the poll imo

Edit: Why is the California winning? It's not the best one, in my opinion.

What the? How the hell is that California shot winning?!

The California one's good but I wouldn't say the best (This is just my opinion)

So why didn´t you all vote for my F40 shot? :D :P Kidding. I agree with you all that it´s not the best in this poll but who cares about my opinion? :)

Next time, I'm submitting an overexposed and fuzzy pic of a Mustang's left tailpipe. Regardless of the theme. I might even take shots from a bunch of angles and then repeatedly ask others to choose my entry too. Then I'll vote for my own shot after it makes the polls. Why the crap not? lol

What? Do you even expect to be on poll after that?
Even if you did, do you expect to win after voting for yourself? ;)

Yeah !! I made it to the poll, I'm so happy to see that I have that much votes already.
The Fiat is mine btw.

Damn, there are so many good entries up there. I think it still can go anywhere with the poll...

Good luck to all the competitors !!

As well intentioned as some of you say you are, these threads are ugly and off-putting.

I voted for the California, and obviously a few others have too, so while you might feel you have a superior grasp of photography concepts and what constitutes a 'good picture', you should all know by now that this is an amateur photo contest, voted on by a lot of people who don't know photography as well as you might think you do. That means that those 'rules' that define a good picture do not apply. If you want to be judged by professional photographers, I recommend you not look to a stupid little video game forum for what is supposed to be a fun-to-enter amateur photography contest.

I believe it's called the 'X' factor, and apparently that California shot has it. Deal with it, and cast your vote for the shot you like best.

Now, the question arises as to whether or not those complaints are attempts to 'sway the poll'. That should apply to people trashing a pic they don't like, as that might deter others from voting, especially since everyone sees who votes for which pics.

You get to give your opinion by way of your one vote. Save the feedback for those who ask for it.

This.

It's not against the AUP to post your opinion and people can continue to do so as it's a public forum where people have opinions. If people don't want feedback they will let it be known.

I guess it was too much to ask for some maturity in a competition of this sort.

Notice the "lol" at the end of my statement. It denotes laughter. Commonly associated with things like sarcasm and jokes. Pull the "holier than thou" stick out pal.

I never said it was against the AUP. I do think it goes against the spirit of the rules of the competition though, especially if you have a pic in the poll too.
