We will take pics before any testing, Sakery tested all cars at 580 pp and reported they were very close apart from the GT40. We need a good tune or its game over for team gulf!

Did he try the 2 GT40 tunes I picked out? Since the car likes to oversteer, the first tune I posted should probably be the one to use.

Team Gulf's car is a "handful" LOL. I say let me drive the Chaparral 2J. LOL

Just watched the movie "The Devil's Double" good movie.

Maybe we can increase the size of the teams and drop it. Is it worth testing more? Is it possible to level the field?

I think we should wait to see how it compares to Sakery's testing of the other cars, with a good setup on it. I'd test it myself, but I don't know where he tested or any other details.

Ok, we will persevere for now. Its such an iconic motor it would be a shame to lose it, it wasnt this hard to handle in gt3/4

Nissan is jealous of Ford's long history. Nissan basically run's GT5. :sly: They wish they would have won the 24 hours.

I think the main problem with the GT40 is that most of the weight is in the rear which affects its handling.

Out of the 3 cars I currently own, the Jag handles the best, then the Ferrari, and then the GT40. Bob agrees with me, he is a second faster in the Jag than the GT40 in the 500pp Rome B-spec seasonal (best laptimes), and I've not even put a setup on the Jag yet.

I believe the GT40 is also the widest of the cars, which doesn't exactly help it either.

EDIT: Weight balance:

Jag- 45-55
Ferrari- 45-55
GT40- 43-57

I couldn't decide between dibs or bagsy, so I went with bagsy. :)

The Jag was my first choice, but was full up already so I went with Ferrari instead.

Joe- Shotgun is bagsy/dibs front seat only, anything else is bagsy.

SM- What is wrong with you tonight

580pp comparison between Jag and GT40:

Jag: 998kg, 428 BHP, 54.4 kgfm torque (or 419 BHP and 59.0 kgfm of torque with the high rpm turbo installed), 45-55 weight balance, 35 60 aerodynamics, hits the limiter at 8500rpm.

GT40: 998kg, 476 BHP, 65.5 kgfm torque (or 468 BHP and 69.2 kgfm torque with the high rpm turbo installed), 43-57 weight balance, 35 60 aerodynamics, hits the limiter at 7500rpm.

On paper the GT40 should be much better, as the slight difference in weight balance and lower rev range should barely affect the handling, though the extra BHP and torque will mean the GT40 has more power oversteer than the Jag.

GT40 should be fine, did you use a tune that made it handle better. Any laptimes?

Yeah, I have the first of the 2 tunes that I posted on the car currently. Bob's fastest lap is a second slower in the tuned GT40 than in the untuned Jag in the Rome B-Spec seasonal (all I did to the Jag's suspension was lower the ride height to -31 on each end). I've not driven the Jag in ages and will search for a tune for it if the GT40 gets dropped.

Bob has the same problems as us with the GT40, it's just too tail happy.

Now I'm not so sure about Bob's best time in the GT40, it's either a 1:22.4 or a 1:24.4, and I know his best in the Jag is a 1:21.6 with a scrape against the wall in one spot (decided that cost him about 2 tenths).

Ok, because they are similar on paper I think we need the same driver to run both cars in a tuned state on a variety of tracks. Ill put some laptimes in with both cars tomorrow after pics are done. We can take some without the GT40 in case. I know you have to adjust your driving style for the GT40, you can be neat with the Jag but have to get a bit crazy to make the ford perform.
Thanks for putting the time in, we will carry it on tomorrow.

I'll see if I can get the time in tomorrow to find a tune for the Jag, and then try and run both cars before we meet up to test and take photos. The time needed will depend on how many tunes there are for the Jag. (I'll check now and edit in)

EDIT: Just 3 Jag tunes, I should have time tomorrow then.

EDIT: Just grabbed a Nissan R390 GT1 Road Car from the UCD. Goodbye 2 million credits! (1 million for buying it, and the other from engine+chassis restoration, the wing etc). Better keep saving up. >__>

Joe- Ok cool, dont blame you getting the nissan, not sure I could have resisted.
See you tomorrow at testing.

Rich- If it comes to that we will, we have still got 560pp to test and various tunes at 580.

Even better: it only had 31 kilometers on the clock! (I don't know why the OCD and UCD use kilometers rather than miles, since I have the game set to use miles.)

EDIT: 560pp would make the cars more stable accelerating out of corners, and I think that'll be the only difference.
