Any word of a demo? As little interest I have in picking up this game, I'm still keen to feel how it drives.

CM tend to bring demos out if they think folks need swaying. At least that's what they said before D3 and I suppose Showdown would be an example of that thinking.

Pre-ordered my Race Day pack the other day, can't for exams to finish and get stuck right in. :D

Showdown was so stupid. Glad i never bought that crap.

I thought Showdown was good, not Dirt 4 obviously but its one of those games where you just get on and have a ridiculously good time.

Thinking about trying this game out, any thoughts on someone like me been racing sim for a while now and moving on to this , will the steering and handling be different ?

This is arcade game and has nothing to do with simulation. Steering is weird.

Demo version would solve that problem for me to. Grid is game for noobs who want to play with friends without trying. Even noob can win races, that's what grid is all about. And i like arcade races and i have noob friends so this might be ideal game for such Sunday players 👍

What I gather is that it's a "simul-cade", in that it's easy to pick-up and play but it has the nuances of a simulation model - oversteer, understeer etc. Basically DiRT.

I watched a video of a GT-R R34 against a Mercedes C63 AMG on Cote d'Azur, the handling seems very floaty to me. I'll probably buy it when it's available for ~€20.

So I'm a noob for actually liking the Grid games?

Note to the gaming world: Skill at arcade games, the very foundation of gaming is irrelevant. If you are good at Arcadey games, you are a noob.

I cant believe that you actually think this. Every game regardless of genre takes a certain amount of skill to play.

Classic
You are average. As skill in Arcade games is such a negative aspect of your gaming career it shall not be tolerated.:sly: :P

 Damn you

I managed to get bronze on the Red Bull X Challenge in GT5, is that repetence? :sly: With a DS3 I might add.

On-topic: That was one of the things that made GRID so much fun. Being able to jump into the career for a few hours, then jump out if the situation arises without coming back and feeling lost upon return.

Off-topic: "Simul-cade"? Actually, I like this. It isn't a 100% sim racer, like GT, Forza, and some earlier Race Driver games, but it doesn't go full-reverse either. Dirt 2 (the Codies next game, coincidentally) could probably use it best, as Dirt 1 and Dirt 3 were both focused more to simulation. 'Simu-cade' seems to fit too.

Well...I guess there's one thing to do to find out if its good , a demo would be really nice .

Even Forza and GT are not 100% sims. There are no flag rules, no full damages, etc. They "just" have much better physics and handling than Codemasters. Actually I find more difficult GRID than GT because the handling is not 100% predictable and you can't tune the car at all.

One thing I like about GRID 1 is the AI, on higher levels it can be very competitive. This is what made the game fun for me. Races are unpredictable everything can happen. Pace is good, they should reduce agressivity a bit, they tend to crash into you a little bit too much.

Ill correct you. Grid doesn't.

I have friends who play racing games rarely, and they never complained that Grid game is hard, like GTR 2, or rFactor. It was instant go for them.

You are not noob if you play or like Grid, but tis game was liked by gamers you would described as Sunday players.

Post a video of one of your friends winning on the hardest difficoulty level. They probably just stick to the "noob" level so they can beat the game.

Which is a problem when you notice that some cars can somehow take a corner 20km/h faster than you.

No offense but even on "ninja" (I think that was the hardest difficulty yeah?) they couldn't keep up with me in the touring cars and still braked early..

Touring Cars are the easier races in GRID 1. I enjoyed GT1 on city tracks trying to avoid the dive bombing AI :)
