Let me elaborate that clearly.

Before update v1.02, I bought all DLCs up to Drift Car Pack --> no problems whatsoever
After update v1.02 --> game started freezing on loading (your trick of signing in later does NOT work, it still freezes when connecting to racenet)
Bought Peak Performance Pack (thinking I could use it offline) --> now I get save corrupted message

Tried deleting all DLC data --> no longer get save corrupted message, but still freezes on loading
Reinstalled all DLCs up to Drift Car Pack --> no save corruption, still freeze
Reinstalled Peak Performance --> save corrupted again

Conclusion:
Update v1.02 caused freezing
Peak Performance DLC caused save corruption

Solution:
None at this point. Game is completely useless. Wait for patch.

Understand the problem better now?

Yes I understood it all along... the "What?" was supposed to be exclamatory, I thought I'd found a working solution but maybe I haven't :indiff:

Good thing I haven't bought the Peak Performance DLC yet.

I'm not worried about the freezing issue; my only problem is the save corruption issue.

Later today, I will be uploading my first Gameplay video from Grid 2:D

Took a while to get the wheel to work (and if I'm honest, its not that fast), but its sufficient.

As for this save corruption issue, Am I also in danger of it or not? I started playing it this past Thursday when my PS3 first arrived.

If your game hasn't started freezing and your save hasn't corrupted by now, you will be fine. Otherwise it would've done that right after the latest update. Just to be safe always backup to USB after every play. I always do that with any game (habit from PS1 days when there's no autosave).

Even if you get the corrupted message, your save file is still OK. It's just the game getting confused how to read it. So don't go deleting your file and start all over again just yet. Better wait for the next patch.

Ok. Just heard about it a lot and wasn't sure what to do. haven't any online racing (mostly don't feel like being bother by Racenet).

Also feel incredibly stupid after finding out the "Unlock All cars" pack is for using the cars online Only and not offline. That means I have to race all the pathetic street circuits and the few race circuits just to get the cars I want :grumpy:

This will be awful.

Shouldn't it be reverse order to stop rookies using the top racers online?

Finally going to try the game, a demo is going to be released or already been released for US PS+ users

So, I just got my copy of Grid 2, but should I be concerned about the save corruption and game freezing issues? I don't intend to go online ATM, but should I be concerned?

I haven't had too many problems (froze twice), and from what I can work out, DLC is the root of most problems, so just stick with the base game and should be OK.

Waheed
When I wrote it's a demo I also said it was for PS+ users, sorry man if you got it wrong

The way it looked to me was that PS+ users were getting it early. But I shouldn't have thought that, it was just me being dumb.

Ah, so the DLC is a no-no until the patch(es) come out. Alright, and since I read somewhere that if you have a save file created before 1.02, you're more susceptible to issues as well. I countered that by creating my save file AFTER updating, and hopefully that will be fine.

My save was created on 1.01, and the only two freezes I had were after the 1.02 update and activating the limited edition code. I havent got any other free or paid DLC. Haven't looked much at isolating any DLC in particular.

Ok, after messing around with the game files I've found the root of the problem. The Modified, Drift and Performance cars are to blame. The VIP pass and 4 pre-order DLCs (GTR, Mclaren, SLR, Indycar) are safe to use. I just deleted my DLC files and reinstalled them one by one, entering the game each time to make sure it didn't freeze.

So there you go. If you have a corrupt file or freezing issue, just delete your DLC files under Game Data utility, and reinstall everything except Modified, Drift and Performance packs.

EDIT: After some more testing, I found that the criteria is 2 DLCs in addition to the VIP pack. So for example you can have VIP + GTR + SLR or VIP + SLR + McLaren, but not VIP + GTR + SLR + McLaren as it will freeze the game.

Thanks for the info. I tried it & so far so good. 👍 We had better get a patch soon or I'll suffer my losses & trade this game for something playable.

A patch is coming soon, Codies confirmed it.

Not playing Grid 2 much now, I'll probably pick it up again for the patch which will let us use the DLC cars online... oh, and the free derby mode :D

You do realize that there's offline racing, right? It's not all about online, you know. I'm going to regret saying that, but it just bugs me that people will do this sort of thing. Yes, I DO understand that it's got issues, but they're working on it. Way I see it, you either go offline for the game (your racing friends can wait for your return), or play something else.

Thing is offline in this game has no replay value whatsoever once you completed career. It's not like GT where you have infinite possibilities offline to the point that you don't even need online. If the upcoming patch doesn't fix this, then he has a right to trade it in because we paid for DLC that we can't use.

Sure, it's his choice. I guess I just think a little differently about it.

The trouble was that I couldn't play offline either without freezing & wasted good money to buy unusable DLC. Codemasters never told me, after I e-mailed them about this, that the DLC was at fault. A Gtplanet member did. 👍
