It's worth noting that as far as I know, there's no real tangible bonus for playing on harder settings either, so if you're having trouble on one setting you won't lose anything bar a bit of cash I think, which you'll have more then enough of later and you can always re-run an event. Similarly you'll get more then enough rep over the course of the game so you don't need to worry about that if you get less of that to.

Also to clarify, I am certain the cars only change when you race in different levels, rookie, pro and all star, not with the actual difficulty you use race to race such as serious for example.

Thanks a lot for the tips, Dragonistic! I am, indeed, playing on easy so far :)

I have heard some rumors that Dirt3 is already in development, so it's also possible that the tweet was referring to that instead of DLC.

Let's hope codemasters give us what weve been wanting - a decent rally game with the McRae name. Sod the damn yanks.

EDIT: In fairness, I was a member of this forum for nearly 1/2 a year before I realized this myself. :embarrassed:

Ok thanks for that. Sorry about blabbering on unnecessarily.

So you're blaming us Americans for the game going in the direction it did instead of Codemasters?

The problem is Dirt 2 is not a rally game (Well, nothing like the original Colin McRae Rally format). Yes it contains some rally cars and stages, but it is primarilily focused on other forms of off road racing which we know Colin enjoyed and participated in, he was also friends with many of the people involved in these sports, so he may have had plans to create a game like Dirt2 at some point before he died anyway.

I'll agree with you that the rallying is not brilliant, but I don't see how you can blame American's for the way this game has turned out, after all Codemasters is a British company.

Fact of the matter is we don't KNOW who made the decisions, someone doid but we don't know who so we shouldn't point fingers without some hard evidence to back it up.

Sorry if i made it look like i was blaming the Americans. Im blaming codemasters. When i said 'sod the damn yanks' i meant it for codemasters to forget about making the next one so Americanized. Apologies, USA.

Just played this online for the first time. Does anyone even try to race cleanly? I know there's bound to be some contact, but it seemed I was getting hit and spun every time someone so much as looked at me.

Some do, but it's rare that you'll find a session that hasn't got at least 1 rammer/cheater these days. It's particularly bad in the Pro Tour class(Skirmish?) with Rally Cross, Baja and so on.. Your best bet is to try an organise something with people from here or just keep looking and eventually you'll find a decent session.👍

Yeah, I'll definitely go back, although I had to bite my tongue to stop myself calling them dirty, cheating b******s over the headset *ahem.*

Are the Fame Points just the online version of XP? Despite being used as other peoples' brakes, I managed to finish second over the 5 races but didn't get anything for it. It was only a Jam Session, so I'm assuming you can only earn them in the Pro Tour?

I know how you feel, except I call DO call them names:mad:.
Yep, the fame points are Dirt 2's online equivalent of XP and unfortunately can only be earnt in Pro tour sessions which of course is where the worst rammers are.:)

I earnt all my fame points for the trophies in the rally and trailblazer events for that reason, then went into jam sessions from then onwards with staggered starts and such for more awesome.

Yeah, I'll probably do the same. I'm not really fond of the other disciplines anyway, except for rally cross.

Despite the game's lean towards the arcade style, I do quite like the force feedback when using a wheel.

I have just rented this for a week after seeing videos of my friend playing it on PC, just downloading the patch atm.

EDIT: The second it started it said the game data was corrupt. Now it is repairing it automatically :/

EDIT 2: This game is amazing!! The graphics are awesome, the physics are awesome with my wheel and its fun. I especially like the point to point races and the rallys :D

I bought my PS3 copy only a few weeks ago, and I went through this same phase so I think we are okay 👍

And yes game is great, add my PSN if you want, I play online with about 5 other guys that race clean and dont smash everybody like 98% of Dirt2 online drivers do.

We must get together sometime and kick up some dust, us Aussies will show them how to play in the dirt. 👍
Feel free to add my PSN to your friends, always looking for a good clean race.

In the summer hols I'll be playing when you boys are on.
Can't do those sorts of hours when I have exams and school and stuff though!

are u serously thumbs downing him using learnt instead of learned? Yeah dirt is a fun game, it would be nice if a car/track pack were released for the game...

Maybe we should point out that parker's post isn't actually a full sentence, there is no full stop, and technically "LOL" should be full capitals...
BAM! Bet you feel sheepish!

If so Gab, I'll just grammar Nazi back and ask why a question in his sig has a capital letter on the start of every word. Not to mention point out earnt is a correct word in at least British English, just in the same way you can swap burned for burnt, so you can call me old fashioned but not incorrect. If that's not why there's the thumbs down I really have no idea what the point of that post was.

Earnt lol 👎

Really, a thumbs for one word? Pathetic. Even funnier is as Dragonistic already pointed, its actually a proper usage in British English. So because you failed to see this, I'll return the favor 👎

Back on topic, hopefully I'll not miss todays delivery so I can be back on D2 later this evening after my exam, but who knows when this guys gonna come.

Might join you guys as well depending on whatever time you say.
