Yes the missions can be done in non pro tour (forgot the name hehe) which will earn you Fame Points!

Also gonna join you guys online, almost sounds like too much fun. Can you just join games or are they password protected or something? :P

Jam Session -> Custom Join -> Look for (usually) Dragonistic

Been watching some videos online and most I've seen are on the 360 or PC, but I've just found some PS3 gameplay, and is it my imagination or does the PS3 version look a LOT better? I mean, I played the demo of DIRT 1 on PS3 and Xbox and noticed maybe a minor graphical difference and a different feeling in the controls, but...are the graphics really that different between the versions?

PS3:

X360:

^^ Yes, because despite what EVERY xbox owner says, the PS3 is awesome! :sly:

I agree that the PS3 video looks better there, but I think that the recording system was better for the PS3 one, making the video prettier.

Those videos probably aren't the best to do comparisons on, they're also in different views of the stages/cars. I my experience most multi-platform games look a bit more polished/smoother on the xbox360, but i have a g25 and was not going to play dirt 2 with a controller!!. The ps3 dirt 2 graphics are great, no complaints. (also think the ps3 is a better piece of hardware)

On a side note, when do you unlock the Ford Rs200? I just got the escort mkII and love it, you have to be easy with the e-brake, but it's a little monster, and i love the sound of the roaring engine. I beat the Colin McRae challenge and had the little video in his memory, very nice touch. :)👍

Yeah, on Wikipedia they mentioned that GRID's EGO engine was modified to take advantage of the PS3's processor. And it only mentions that the 360 and PC got minor graphical updates. So, it would seem that the PS3 version is the better version. (BTW, the PC version scored the highest in the ratings department followed by the PS3 and then the 360.)

Also, great selection of cars...except, the 350Z looks REALLY weird on dirt.

I just won the rallycross world tour and unlocked it. I'm not sure if that's what's required of if I just happened to unlock it after I won. :)

I'm pretty sure it doesn't, because when I made a new PSN account it wouldn't let me use the save I had on my first PSN. Sorry. :indiff:

If it's anything like the early locked gamesaves games such as Ridge Racer 7 you can only use saves that have been done while remaining disconnected from the PSN. However this is probably more like Skate 2 and stuff where gamesaves are locked so you have to pay.

As with every game I've seen compared on both systems, PS3 seems to handle lighting a lot better than the 360. And there is a smidge more frame-rate slow down on the PS3 version, but during gameplay, you can't even tell the difference. And because of PS3's superior lighting, I can understand why there's a bit of a slow down.

But, looking at the two versions side by side, the PS3 version does look a tad better and I'm sure both the the look and the slight slow down comes down to simply better lighting. The wind in the PS3 version looked a little better, as well.

You can definately copy saves off the hard drive, I got mine from my old PS3 (broken) to my new one BUT I have a feeling they are linked to the PSN as the online stats most certainly are on the game save rather then on the server.

Side note, I wasn't available yesterday due to illness but I'm feeling a little better today so might get some gaming done at some point.

Myself and Talon are about to get on if anyone wants to join, I'll be hosting the Jam Session as usual though maybe not for to long before I have a break.

Whew, I was not on my game today. I lost almost every race. :scared:

Dragonistic, is your friend Gareth a member here?

He's not no, and you'll have to forgive his dodgy driving (I was on the receiving end in the last race I did) he doesn't play it an awful lot and was just being to ambitious on his overtake attempts I believe, though some of the contact I saw between alot of players was pure accidental with nobody to blame, that's what happens in close racing!

I might get back on later if others are still on.

It was more than dodgy driving. He took me out four races in a row before the first time split, so I messaged him about it, and he said that I hit him at the start of every race. Obviously not true. I'm not really sure what was going on, but it wasn't cool. 👎

I know on Shibuya at least that it was completely accidental, he hit the crest on the bridge on a slight angle and went into your 1/4 panel. Regardless don't get caught up on it, if I invite him again (he's not raced with me in months) and there's similar trouble I'll have a word or not invite him at all in future.

Do you all have favorite car that you use? I'll probably use the Dodge Rams for the classes they're in. The BMW for rally crosses. And probably the VW for T1 Raid.

Also: Just noticed this but, Dirt 1 featured Continental Tires as a sponsor and Koni was the sponsor of the Grand-Am "Showroom stock" race. However, in Dirt 2, Koni's a sponsor and Continental Tire is the sponsor of the Gran Am series. Interesting.

If I do get on it'll be after 1pm as thats when I finish coaching. But I might stay and hit for a bit afterwards so it could be pushing on for 3 before I get on.
;)

We generally seem to gravitate towards the Rally and Raid classes as I'm host and I don't know of any car which is particularly dominant overall in those classes on the tracks we run (usually a medley of events not the 'correct' ones for the cars, though one car may be quickest it's not significantly so). Trophy trucks are a no-no unless we're private as the Toyota Stadium dominates, Trailblazers is dominated by the Dallenbach and Rallycross the RS200. Saying that, I'm not sure exactly how things stack up in Stock Baja and Buggies, I will investigate now.

Edit:
As for my favourites and a little bit about the quicker cars or so I believe. I'm pretty sure on most of my comments bar Buggies and Stock Baja I have used leaderboard research as I've never raced them heavily.

Rally
Personal Favourites: Escort or Group N Impreza
Fastest: The Escort, Group N, 350Z and Evo X are probably top 4 overall but there's not a huge gap. That said the Evo X is definately one of, if not the easiest to drive quickly which makes it popular amongst many players.

Rallycross
Personal Favourites: Metro 6R4 or Ford RS200
Fastest: RS200 without a doubt seems fastest and by a fair gap

Trailblazer
Personal Favourite: Solstice
Fastest: Dallenbach by a large gap and it's easy to drive which is why I don't use it

Stock Baja
Personal Favourite: Dodge Power Wagon
Fastest: Research suggests the Ridgeline may be quickest here but not significantly so, not personally tested many of them enough to confirm

Raid T1
Personal Favourites: Bowler or Hummer
Fastest: Not to sure, the Hummer seems popular on the leaderboard but I don't think the gap is significant enough to call it overpowered like the RS200 or Dallenbach in particular.

Trophy Trucks
Personal Favourite: Silverado CK-1500
Fastest: Toyota Stadium truck without a doubt and again is easy to drive.

Buggies
Personal Favourite: Dejong MXR
Fastest: Though not tried many of them much, the PRC-1 looks dominant on the leaderboards though again might not be significant.
