That's the problem with this game, and it's the reason I hate playing it online: everybody I have played against are only interested in treating every race like a game of destruction derby. It is a racing game. You are meant to race each other. Oh I do hope Polyphony Digital are ruthless when it comes to punishment for those who like to spoil it this way online. My ideal punishments? Empty their garage of all the cars they have collected, make their accumulated funds go back to the starting amount, and ban them from online play for a set period. That'll teach 'em.

Relax.
Since we got the game we have been trying to race cleanly.
The past couple of sessions has been infinitely more fun!

Exactly, I've had the game since near release and raced as cleanly as possible until the last day or 2 where we've been having some fun. Note that we are hosting our own room in unranked so anyone has the right to leave as they see fit, nobody is forcing them to stay and we're not ruining their lobby as it is usually me who creates it. If they don't like it they can leave and join another from the list or create their own.

If Dirt was on a matchmaking system for unranked play which forced you into random games then I would agree it is wrong to do so, but as we can create and join sessions by selecting whichever you want from a list there is no need to be strict on rules, the host has total control and therefore if you want clean races you can host and kick players who don't adhere to that.

I'd love to have more of a run with you guys when playing this demolition derby style. It's so much fun waiting for someone to try sprint away only to smash them at a corner.

See my above post. It is players like you who spoil it for clean racers like myself.

You're missing the point and indeed the context somewhat.

At the risk of making it sound really serious, everyone is consenting.

Not to mention seemingly ignoring or having no answer to my post which put it all into context. We can't ruin your online experience if you choose to create your own race or leave ours, the online system makes it very, very easy to avoid players you don't want to race with using the kick feature as host and just backing out when not.

To put this into a further context, out of 900+ races which I've hosted 90% of, less then 50 I have used deliberate contact and the rest I've tried to race as cleanly as possible. For that reason, when I host a game with Rally cars alot of regular players acknowledge my room as one for clean rally racing (including Rallycross tracks) and they join for that reason which fills up the number but these same players know to avoid my rooms set to Raid vehicle set because they know most Raid games are hectic and full of contact both on purpose and accidental. If you can't find clean races you've just been looking in the wrong places, I have a fair few on my friends list which I've met on Dirt 2 which race cleanly and regularly.

*facepalm*

Definitely. 👎

Golfman, you are completely missing the point. We all race perfectly clean 99% of the time, and when we aren't racing clean, we are all aware of it and are doing so on purpose. I've raced with SweetshopUnion, and he is far from one of the people who ruin online races.

I'd go as far to say alot of people joining hear us on the headsets and realise what's going on, then join in! You can hear others laughing quietly to themselves that we don't even know, unranked sessions don't have that many truly dirty drivers, mostly those who try to be clean but are a bit ambitious at times and they get a chance like the rest of us to let our hair down and cause some chaos in our own room.

Like me...
When we do real races I do actually try sometimes and I can drive well-ish.
But sometimes if I try to pass Trolley or I'm sure Sureboss can vouch for this ( :D ) I make contact from going far too fast into the corner or if I am barrel-rolling and I manage to collect people in my uncontrolled state

I'll never forget driving under your car! :D

Point is, when we want to be serious, we're serious. When we went to be silly, we're silly, but it's obvious we're silly, it's not just random punting or pulling a PITT manoeuvre to win a race, it's utterly mental.

Added to that when we are being silly we don't involve people that join the Jam Session who we don't know. We'll wait on the start and let them head off for a race.

I think it's fair to say most of us are only truly violent to one another unless someone has already made a clear statement they want in on the chaos. The first turn is always messy regardless and that's just a reality of online competition even if your clean differing speeds and skill levels cause contact, and I do go for them full speed in our demo derby runs but I'll only usually rub a randomer (giggedy) and go all out to cause a mess against someone I know (giggedy giggedy goo!).

Lol!
The highlight was me taking Drag out on the first lap and some randomer out a bit later.... And by "out" I mean:
*Dragonistic has destroyed their vehicle*
:D
But in all seriousness Drag is correct. Even the other day on iRacing, which is supposed to be clean which it is most of the time, I was taken out in a massive pile-up on the first corner. I wasn't happy

Anybody here playing it on PC?..

Got my G27 last monday, tested with the D2 Demo DL'ed from Steam - played 3 tracks and bougth the full game!..

Soo much funny awesomeness and the TrailBlazer in China - I finally found something that feels a bit like the long flowing Finland Stages in CMR2...

Good racing today, with some really nice race craft going on (no geniunely it was a clean session this time!). Myself and Cale an a ridiculously close finish on Ensenada after everyone else left, 0.04 in it with Cale edging me out as I made a run on him out of the final turn, another few metres and that would have been all mine 👍

I do enjoy the Group N alot, not sure if I prefer to the Escort or not but I use the Group N more for medley series so I'm not easily taken out and spending longer recovering as I would be in the RWD Escort.

The thing I love about the rally cars is there's no real dominant car, the Evo X, 350Z, Group N and Escort perhaps shine a little brighter but they're all quite equal and work better at times when others don't making for interesting racing.

Myself and Aldo will be going back on reasonably soon (5 mins or less probably).

I shall have to join you guys for a race once I finish getting all the trophies in a couple weeks. (well, you guys can help me get the online trophies.) And until TDU2 comes out.

Same Cale. I needed something to vent my anger towards Fernaldo besides K.Oing his car.

Just Kidding :P

 Relax!
You were even more aggressive than me in the Raid races!

Fernaldo (Alonso) you mean .

I like it Lewis Dragilton :D

We don't play Pro Tour which is the only place you can earn Fame Points. You'll have to slug it out with the bum-holes of the Dirt 2 world to get that Level 30 trophy... :indiff:
