Sorry for being stupid but, how do you induct Colin McRae to the Scottish Sports Hall of Fame?

Done. Couldn't believe he wasn't already in it.

Criteria for Selection

1. Individual inductees of the Scottish Sports Hall of Fame must be:
* A person who has been retired from top level participation for five years or more.
Have nominated him anyway, since I'm pretty sure that Colin McRae qualifies as an exceptional example.

The McRae stages will go ahead next week.

“We would like to inform everyone that, with the full- hearted support and encouragement of Alison McRae, Jim McRae and the rest of the McRae family, this year’s Colin McRae Forest Stages Rally will go ahead as planned, in Perth, on September 29.”

I made this Video for Colin.

+++++REP Beautifully done... incredibly touching moment at the end... how anyone could watch the last minute of that clip without shedding a tear I'll never know, or care to understand.

Thanks for sharing that with us! 👍

Service of celebration for McRae

The family of the late world rally champion Colin McRae have announced details of a Service of Celebration that will be held in his memory on Sunday 30 September.

McRae's funeral will take place in private, but the service of celebration for both Colin and his son Johnny will be open to the public.

It will take place in the High Street of the family's home town of Lanark at 4pm. The service itself will be held in St. Nicholas Church, and relayed into the High Street for the benefit of the anticipated crowds.

Strathclyde Police have urged those planning to attend to allow plenty of time for their journey as large numbers are expected.

McRae and his son died, along with two family friends, died in a helicopter crash on 15 September.

Sorry I'm so late, I dont' know how I missed this.

wow. my favorite rally driver, gone the way Kulwicki went. my condolances go out. Suggest someone drive the final stage of a rally slowly and backwards after they've won. Good 'ol Polish victory lap.

and I was all looking forward to see what he'd do at the X-games next year...

There is an hour long tribute to Colin on ITV4 for British viewers at 5:30pm today.

I went to the McRae stages rally yesterday and will post some pictures in my photos thread later.

I watched it.

Awesome show. Made me happy to watch how good he was but sad that he was actually gone.

I still can't quite believe it. :(

I was looking through my Yahoo mail and found one piece of mail from Codemasters offering their admiration and respect for Colin McRae. Here's how it goes:

Colin McRae MBE: 1968-2007

Hello.
As followers of racing games, and followers of Codemasters,
I'm sure you have by now heard the very sad news of the death of
Colin McRae, his son and two family friends.

For us all here at Codemasters, it was a privilege to be associated
with a man recognised as a true great. He always took a keen interest
in the game experience, wanting to make sure it was without equal in
its portrayal of the sport. He was not prepared to compromise and was
as passionate as us in making the Colin McRae games the best they
could be.

For those of us who worked closely with Colin and got to know and
admire him, we take great heart from this and recall great memories
of his time in the dev studio. I'm sure that many of you out there
reading this will also have wonderful memories of a first-class
sportsman, whether from WRC coverage, or if you were lucky enough to
meet him.

Many of you have already posted messages of condolence on the
Codemasters forum, and we would like you to know that we've set up a
dedicated page for this purpose on the Codemasters website here:

Personally, I'll count the interview I did with him in 2004 as a
memory I'll forever cherish, and I thought I'd just pull a short
quote from it to end this tribute to a friend of Codemasters, and an
all-around "car guy".

----------------------------------------------------------------------
RFT- OK. What is it about you as a rally driver that makes you better
than the next guy?

CM- For any successful driver, it's confidence. Self-belief. But
that's in anything in life. If you're confident in what you're doing
and you really believe in yourself that you can pull it off, then
generally you will.

Yeah, I don't check my Yahoo mail too much. It was tough when we lost Dale Earnhardt Sr. It was tough when we lost Peter Brock. It's tough now without Colin McRae. I've always admired him. Never doubted his abilities or his determination to win. You couldn't fill a field full of good rally competitiors without this guy in it. There were also those competitions at the X-Games between McRae and Travis Pastrana. Whatever Halls of Fame there are for rally racers and international racing talent in general, he should be inducted FIRST BALLOT. One of the best in the business for absolute sure.

Any news on McRae in the Scottish Sports Hall of Fame. The site seems dead..... and there is no confirmation on the next ceremony...... :(
