Colin, you're one of my heroes.

Softly spoken, hard driving, and totally driven, you were the guy we wanted to be - zero bull, wearing your heart on your sleeve and making those cars just dance.

We didn't mind when you got it wrong (and boy, did you get it wrong sometimes) it let us know that the best make mistakes, and sometimes the risks were worth it.

And then, you went down the bar with the lads. No fuss, no attitude, just one of the guys.

Your talent will be remembered forever, your family is today extended to all the fans of motorsport, and we'll miss you.

Now, go tell Richard he's a big girl's blouse - and it's his round.

Goodbye Colin.

Totally agree, could not have been said better... would make a perfect speech.

I was going to see Colin McRae for the first time in person at the Race of Champions in December, so all I have to say is you will be sadly missed Colin McRae.

R.I.P

I can't stop thinking about this. My thoughts are with his family and friends families.

Also his website has been updated.

RIP

Not right. Talk about the world being an unfair place.

My god... I'm pretty freaked. I can't believe he's gone, just like that.

But I'm even more freaked, for something wider. Beef and Burns last year, too. I'm really starting to think Subaru is cursed, and I don't at all mean that as a joke. Something is really not right.

Well, regardless of superstitions, though, I think I'm going to have to rally the local Subaru guys together, we've gotta do something in his honor, even if it's just a few drinks to Colin's memory...

I saw him racing live, 2002 in the german WRC run, a true champion. What a shame...

Winning the WRC for Subaru seems to be kinda unhealthy...

Requiescat In Pace

:(

And so the rallying world loses yet another great gentleman. First we lose Michael Park, then Richard and now Colin. It's really sad news. Out of all the rally drivers, I think he has given me the best memories to grow old with. Although I was very young when he was driving his most remarkable years, he still performed some really awesome driving during his later years. He, if someone, really honestly gave his everything in every race he raced in, no matter if it was on snow, gravel or tarmac.

Rest in peace Colin.

I bet you right now He's in Heaven making an '01 Focus do the sideways dance, trying to Richard's Stage time.

Rally on in Heaven man.....rally on

IMO if you make a tribute vid use energetic music or the sound of his car dancing.

Colin was the first driver outside of NASCAR I really knew about as a kid and he sort of became someone I looked up to (as a kid I always wanted to be a racecar driver). He had always been my favourite WRC driver as well. I am sad he is gone and I know he will be missed.

I'm so sad about this. Colin was an inspiration to me, in his commitment, his resolute belief that mistakes didn't matter so long as you didn't make the same one twice. His sense of honour was immense. I even bought a Subaru because he switched me on to the brand.

The man whom for some ten years I felt was the best driver on the planet has passed. I mourn him.

I just read about it, and I am shocked. I always loved to watch him driving the WRC cars at absolute limit, he was also a very nice guy and never complained about anything or anyone if things didnt run very well.

A great racing driver is gone.

But it could have been worse for him, at least he didnt die from cancer like poor Richard Burns.

R.I.P colin!

My prayers go to his wife and her child!

I'm very sad to hear this news and like all of you I wish his survivors the best. I'm sure Mr. McRae would be honored by the response the world has shown and I hope his memory lives on for many generations to come.

I was woken up this morning by a text from my dad with this tragic news. I pass on my deepest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues and now every time I play DiRT, I will do so in tribute to him.

RIP Colin McRae MBE :( next time i have a drink, i shall raise a glass in tribute to him

He was given the title of MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in 1996.

Damn, I felt disgusted when I heard this yesterday. Horrible news, RIP Colin aswell as the rest of the victims of the crash. Anyone else find it weird that the two rally driver's with their own videogames have now been taken away from us?

Wow, I'm completely shocked. I actually reloaded the webpage hoping I wasn't seeing correctly. That's truely a shame, 2 brilliant rally drivers dead way too early.

R.I.P. Colin and his son.

Colin, You have touched our lives. We'll miss you.

It's sad and so unexpected when we loose them racing or not. Helicopters and private planes have taken so many greats. Graham Hill, Al Holbert, Davey Allison, Alan Kulwicki and probably several others that escape me.

same as some of you guys, i grew up playing the CM Rally games and i loved them. going to get DIRT now :( :) RIP Colin McRae and my condolences to his family and friends and crew. Will miss you

x2. He will be missed.:(

A terrible tragedy for all the families involved, a very sad day for Scotland, and for the world of motorsport generally. The only consolation - however hollow it may ring for his loved ones - is that Colin lived a full and fantastic life, and was an inspiration to an entire nation, and to countless others across the world. What a tragedy, though, that his son and his son's friend also perished in the accident...

This is a real shame. He didn't deserve this. He may not have been my favorite driver, but hell he was always good. Few people posess the skill to handle a car like that. May he rest in peace with an infinite supply of cars. What I want to know is why whirlybirds take so many people we like, yet people we hate are immune to their spell?

Bloody hell. I did'nt see that one coming! :( :( :( :(

PS: Sorry for being disrespectful if I was. It's just a shock that he died in a helicopter crash when he has brushed with death so many times as a rally driver. He was the last person I expected to Die.

P.S.S: RIP Colin Mcrae!
