No. But there are some that sound like they would be easier to work with. It's all up to you since you're the one who'll be working on them more than anyone else.

I still want to know if there was one tone that suits you better. Was there a tone you liked better than the others? I was hoping the riffs I supplied would spark some ideas for a bass riff or drum beat from you by now. If not, maybe pointing out some chords that you liked, I could come up with something new.

is there any way we can still submit stuff? i have some rough cuts of my friend steven, as well as myself, playing guitar. I'm doing their sound, mixing and producing in adobe audition. hopefully it'll turn out pretty cool.

let me know, and i'll post 'em up.

You should have access to the private portion of the site to hear the samples that Solid Lifter has already uploaded.

Great thread!! 👍 👍

Just thought of a funky-bluesy wah-wah thing that would fit really nicely to Pako's Chili-peppers-a-like funky bass if you guys want me to record something... (maybe too many guitarists?! - if solid really doesn't want me here I won't bother :(...). But I'd love to help if its all fun. :)

I've go CubaseSX on PC and Mac and Garageband on the Mac too, but no good soundcards or mics really (doesn't sound very good compared to amp cranked up like solid said - have to use pedals for dirt so it all sounds a bit thin and quiet... but good enough for this kinda thing). Man, this is exactly the sort of thread I've thought about trying to do for ages!

Nice bass too Pako!!

It seems like it could go a few ways so far - a more heavy-rock thing like what solid did on his sample (I can only access the sample that was linked directly on this page), or more funky/bluesy like what Pako did on that groove. Maybe something totally different. Either way, can't wait to see what the finished song ends up sounding like... If there's a couple of directions to go in, maybe there could even be another song after the first one?

Sorry guys for the delay on this project. Solid Lifters has provided some great sample tracks as well as a few others. I just haven't had time this summer to even think about doing another project. Driving 300 miles again today for another show, getting back tomorrow. Anyways, September 24th is my last Out of Town gig with all the summer gigs coming to an end (no more gigging every weekend) so I'll be able to put more attention into this project. There's enough talent that we should be able to produce a fairly nice product. :)

What an awesome idea this is Pako. Shame I didn't notice it till now :(

*guitarist of many years*

I'm lookig forwards to hearing it though!

I'm looking forward to it also. Like I said, with the end of September just month away, I'm hoping to be able to put some effort in directing this project. Solid has some great Halenisk riffs that pretty much set the genre to Rock which is cool. I think we crank out a rock instrumental, then start looking at some other genre's where others skills can shine and be utilized. :-)

Hey Pako, I'm getting interested (again) in this project. Fortunately I have a good quality recording device and can probably convert my stuff into mp3. I tried going to your forums but it says they are currently being modified. It's been like this for at least a week.

It's been that way for over a month! He must be really busy, because he hasn't been around here much, either. Must be the Christmas crunch.

If you got some samples, post them up here! 👍

Ok, so here's how we're going to do it. Hopefully we can crank something out fast enough so as not to get board as well as to allow us to try different 'lead' instruments for melody ideas etc. I am open for suggestions but how does this sound:

Step One: Receive drum track
Step Two: Layer Melody
Step Three: Collect and layer rhythms
Step Four: Collect and layer vocals/backups
Step Five: Final Mix and Post Production mastering

I think we go with a first come first serve volunteer basis on who will submit tracks. :) In all honesty would could layer many different parts, but 'less' can often be 'more'.

So what do you guys think?

OK, since nobody is stepping up to the plate on step #1, I guess that I may as well.

I can put together good-sounding drum loops in rather short order. I don't play drums, but I'm not using a drum machine, either. I'm using a sampled drumset via reason, and it sounds awfully convincing.

Rather than trying to wade through all the pages of this thread...

Style requests? Where to upload?

Awesome! I'll send you a PM with FTP info. Style? Take your pick. Perhaps something simple for this first go around. :)

OK, I've uploaded a simple 8-bar drum riff in both MP3 and 44/16 WAV formats. This is just a quick loop I created in maybe 15 minutes last night, just as an 'audition' if you will.

If it sounds good enough for you, I'll produce a 'riff kit' that has maybe 4-8 8 bar loops, a couple of transition pieces, etc. It'd take me a few hours work to produce a riff kit.

I can provide the riffs as fully mixed wavs, unmastered wavs, or even as individually miked bits; the sample kit I'm using features I think 8-10 mics, so I can provide each mic as a separate track for final mixdown.

Right on, lets keep it in a stereo file for now, and if need be, down the road, we can use the individual tracks to highlight different tracks if the mix requires it. :)

Will check it out now. 👍

Just got done listening to it. I think that will work just fine. Just keep the session in case we need something tweaked for the final mix! Awesome....

Can't wait.

Well, you can start work with that, but I'll start working on a full riff kit that has 4-8 variations in the same tempo and style, along with fills & intros. This way you have something to start with, and I'll be able to develop parts more fully.

Really, that wasn't meant as a 'real' submission, just as a temporary placeholder. :)

Is it ok to borrow some of your recordings to produce a electro/house mix? Obviously credit will be given where it's due.

You can use mine, but the recording quality sucks. I'm going into a standard PC with a Shure SM57 with no preamp.

I gotta invest in a new PC with a better sound card. But, here it is anyway.

The last few are tone samples I gave to Pako a long time ago. They're just me noodling around, but maybe you can capture something from them.

I'll have a rummage though them and see what I can use. Thanks.

Does anyone have any sample acapellas? Just need something that runs for about 40-60 seconds.

Alright, it's been long enough.... I just bought a drum machine and will start putting together a groove this weekend and will post. Not looking to win a Grammy here, just want to actually accomplish something. :)

Be looking for it, it's coming.

Hi GT Musicians !
Is this collaborative-track-project still active ?
If so, I'm willing to layer almost anything from guitar or bass to synth sequences on any backing track that might need it ... I got qbz at home with the necessary to record and upload wavs or mp3 as needed :)

I'll get a groove laid down this weekend. Could use some Keys/Synth, rhythm guitar, horns, what ever. The prior attempts flopped due to the lack of percussion rhythm which should be the foundation of any song when you're layering. Since no drummers stepped up to lay down a solid drum line, we the project fell by the way side. I've since picked up a nice drum machine that has got some pretty nice grooves, so I thought I'd lay that down followed by some bass then upload that for the masses to start layering on top of. Could be fun.

Could be fun.
definitly :dopey: !
If you lay down the drums then I may be able to add also some pecussions
One the other hand, if you want, I can ask my rythmic couterpart to lay down some more drums ...

for bass and other melodic instruments, do you already have a key / chord progression in mind ?
if not, may I suggest using something simple like keys of Em or Bm :dunce: ?

I won't have internet this WE, so see you on monady
