Ohio State, meet your new head coach- Urban Meyer. I have a lot of respect for Urban Meyer. Maybe he'll return Ohio State football to where it is used to being- on top (or near the top). Any chance Urban Meyer can make Ohio State great again?

It will take years for michigan to become a good enough football team where it can beat ohio state and michigan state as it used to. ( we need another charles woodson )

Just glad FAU won on Saturday, they were all by their lonesome with no wins. Got to see their new stadium in person, too...nice digs.

Only one more game for Howard Schnellenberger, as he announced his retirement earlier this year.

So much for vain thought that Urban Meyer would turn the Owls around...okay, didn't think that would really happen, but one can dream.

You've got to be joking right? Not to bring up Michigan just beat OSU this weekend and finished the season 10-2. That's in Brady Hoke's first year! And you're telling me it will take them years?! I can see maybe 2 more years until we become a legit top 10 team. Next year will be more of a struggle, our opening game being SEC's finest (Alabama). If it takes any team to get back in to the talk it's going to be Ohio State. They just hired the completely wrong head coach. How did Rich Rod work out for Michigan? Terrible. What offense did he run? Spread. You can't do that in Big Ten football. Now reverse this, What offense does Urban Meyer run? Spread. We might begin to see a pattern here.

I think they are already there. Granted, they are not the powerhouse they once were, but they are looming there ..... 10-2, this speaks words in the Big 10. Michigan will be a serious contender for the Big 10 title next year.

I don't think that O.S.U hired the wrong coach. Urban Meyer has a tendency to make things work. His first meet up with a player (one on one) was none other than Braxton Miller. Miller was informed that he will be the man to head up the Buckeyes offense, via the spread. The main issue with Miller, he needs to slow down, take a breath, and not get so excited when he see's the open target. I've witnessed this all year long with Miller, overthrows after overthrows. The Bucks have the speed to run a spread, it just needs polished up.I think the spread can work in the Big 10. Typically, the Big 10 is known as an up the gut, hard core in your face, smash mouth football. I think we will see the spread coming to this division. Some teams already are running variations of this type of offense, it's just not full blown, all out spread. YET

So why didn't it work for Michigan ? It's easy. They never had the personnel to run it. They have a bad ass QB (whom I greatly admire), and they had no other speed to help execute it. It takes more than just a highly talented QB to run such an offense. Michigan was trying to run a spread with the typical Big 10 offense as I described earlier. With this combination, the spread will never work.

HA! Skip Holtz and the South Florida Bulls throw away a shot at bowl eligibility by blowing a chance to win and then losing to WVU. That's what you get for leaving when you promised not to, Skip! My day will now be a very happy one :).

Inaugural Pac-12 Championship Game is tonight. It's UCLA at Oregon. Wouldn't it be insane if UCLA somehow upset the Ducks and win the title despite their current 6-7 record? Stranger things have happened, but it would be a real shocker if this were to happen.

They just need to stop the divisional thing and invite only the two best overall records. If LSU loses to Georgia, the BCS picture gets upset greatly because now Alabama has a shot at the title without even playing in a conference title match.

Although somehow UConn wins the Big East last year with 7 wins and seriously does not belong in a BCS bowl because USF keeps dropping big games after September ends.

I guess what gets at me is how some people think there shouldn't be a rematch of two teams that have already played each other. Well, if they are the best and if you want a #1 vs. #2, then there's nothing we can do about it except like it. It's #1 vs. #2; not #1 vs. (a team you haven't played). As a basketball example, it would be like if Duke and Georgetown played a spirited game against each other, and if the National Championship game was Duke and Georgetown, who would complain if they are the two best teams? All I'm saying is... if it's LSU vs. Alabama for the title, who is to complain if they are the two best teams?

That's what I think, anyways.

Alabama is in basically no matter what. The only way I see Alabama shopping is if Oklahoma State wins by 40.

In other news, my dad just refereed his second state high school championship game at Carter-Finley Stadium, home of the NC State Wolfpack. In the game, Murphy High School beat Jones Senior 21-6 to win the 1-A state title, with James Posey earning MVP honors with 3 TDs, 2 rushing, 1 receiving. Congrats Murphy! We got to sit in the luxury boxes, which made the stadium look much nicer than when I usually come to cheer on my Pirates against the Wolfpack .

Everybody on UofM is still young, they still have lots more to improve. What im trying to say is that if michigan wants another Tom Brady or Charles Woodson they're going to need to improve. Change takes time. But i agree with you michigan does have a great coach and the defense is improving but the games vs. Iowa and MSU are games they should have won. Go Blue!

Big weekend of college football today and tonight. Whatever you'll be checking out today and tonight, enjoy your college football, folks!

Bad couple of weeks for the both of us John, I was really pulling for Houston.

Damned disappointed. ESPN/ABC always seem to bring out the fail in Houston teams in nationally-televised games. USM just straight up beat our asses. And if we're not any more overrated by some people, we were even more so today. 49-28 should have been US beating the Golden Eagles. I'm expecting us to fall to somewhere between #12 and #17 in the nation in the final BCS polls.

You know, this reminds me of when Ball State was unbeaten heading into the MAC title game a few years ago against a 7-4 (or something like that) Buffalo. Buffalo smashed Ball State to win the MAC title as Ball State's possible BCS hopes were busted.

i still wore my UH cap (first time I ever wore it) in support of UH's almost perfect season. No bandwagon in my blood. Saluting all winners and tough luck for all losers... including my beloved Houston Cougars. And the one thing I hated most was how people thought that beating Houston just makes us feel like villains as far as money for C-USA is concerned. I mean... I'm just disappointed as a whole.

Later tonight will be the BCS rankings as well as the Bowl Selection Show. We'll have to see who all will fill out the BCS rankings and how far some of the beaten teams (like my Houston Cougars) will fall.

I'm hoping that OK State gets in the NCS, anything NOT to see Bama in there.

As an LSU fan I hope so too. Alabama is the only team that I think can possibly pull an upset and beat LSU.

Where would you stand though if you play Alabama and lose by less than 3 points? If that happened and Alabama was declared the champion I would sue the NCAA for stupidity.

Yeah. If Alabama does get in Im going to be kind of mad. Alabama got their chance to beat LSU and they screwed up. OK State should get in because of that.

I hate the BCS. UofM doesn't even play, and moves ahead of MSU, who played, AND beat them earlier. Explain to me how that's right

Explain to me how Boise gets left out at number 7 and VT gets in at #11 after getting raped on Saturday. Atrocious. I hope the BCS and whatever prick that invented it get their just desserts.

On a good note, Trent Richardson (he who gets glory for the one good run against Ole Miss and being huge, that's it. Montee Ball is exponentially better) is dropping in Heisman polls and RG3 is number 1 (yay!). Luck is 2nd and Tyrann Mathieu is 4th. I wouldn't mind seeing Mathieu in New York, he looks like a goober with that hairdo but he's really good.

I learned that the Houston Cougars will be playing on January 2nd in the TicketCity Bowl in Dallas against Penn State. I guess when you get your butt handed to by Southern Mississippi with BCS Bowl hopes on the line, you have to sometimes settle for something less. And DAMN- Houston dropped all the way from #6 in the BCS to #19 in the BCS, and they also dropped down to #20 in the AP polls.

Looks like LSU and Alabama for the title. Oklahoma State didn't woo too many people to be the second-best team. I'm sure people like PTI's Michael Wilbon will hate the notion of an LSU/Alabama rematch for the title.

Hey, if it makes you feel better John, I'd love to watch ECU play in Cowboys Stadium against a BCS team. But, I also understand the frustration. You gonna go check out Jerry World for the bowl game?

This season has some weird bowl games:

#1: As everyone knows, the NCG was driven by what the networks wanted and votes were made by people who are clueless. As a result, we see LSU against Alabama. Tell me, if Alabama wins by a field goal, who wins the national title?
#2: Its the Meyer bowl for the Gator Bowl as Florida plays Ohio State.
#3: UCLA makes a bowl game. Wait, they shouldn't make an anything considering they are under .500.

I object. It's not UCLA's fault that Reggie Bush let some booster buy his mom a house, if they would have played the season as per usual and USC represented the division as they rightfully should have if not for Bush, they would have gone 6-6 and played a bowl just like all the other 6-6 teams. If they would have won the division fair and square and lost the championship game, then yes, no bowl game, but they shouldn't have been in that game to start with. So yes, they do deserve to be where they are.

You know you don't belong in a bowl game when your coach gets fired before you lose the championship game for your conference.
