GT Sport has a better campaign at this point than GT7 has. I didn't even know it had a campaign until I heard about it on the forum.
So, I installed the game, (I got it bundled with my PS4 Pro, just never actually played it for more than 5 minutes).
It feels much more what I imagine Gran Turismo to be, than GT7 is at this point.
The prices of cars is actually reasonable for the firm favorites. For example R33 for 60k credits, MKIII supra for 20K, I feel like I'm playing GT now in earnest. Just completed Sunday cup in it, which had 9 races (half of GT7 at this point basically).
Two things surprised me about it the most, first how different the physics are. I was honestly struggling with driving most cars in GT7, everything felt like driving on ice. In sport you can actually feel grip, and tons of it, it was glorious, no more nursing the accelerator fearful of snap oversteer in everything but the purpose built GT race cars. I could drive aggressively in it and it felt great.
The other thing being how much of it carried over to GT7, this really opened my eyes to the fact that GT7 is not really a brand new game, but a touched up version of Sport. The HUD and many UI elements are basically the same.
But of course there are some downsides too. One is that there is no proper tune menu, you basically level up your car and tune it by adjusting a slider, that's it. Two being the graphics, which looks significantly uglier on the PS4 Pro, I'd imagine the difference even more glaring on the PS5.
Either way, I actually enjoyed my stint with Sport's campaign mode, and now I Have zero desire to go back to GT7, I think I'll just continue playing the campaign in GT Sport for now.
