Competitive Racing License

In it's simplest terms, does not work well in it's current state. After the past two days of racing, I achieved 1550+ with minimal impact in most races. I then start a race today, qualify, everything goes well, and the host decides to quit because he's crashed after a huge pileup on T1. My rating is now 1458 despite doing nothing wrong in that race.

This needs to be looked into, and if possible, reset after a patch, because it's not ideal in it's current state. The host can effectively reduce your rating just by leaving the game!
Still P2P? Why is this not running on Azure or other dedicated servers?

To the people that has reached F and E ratings...how many online races have you done?

I'm at 10 total races but still U :(
Only got 1 penalty for accidentally touching another car on the formation lap and that was my first online race.

I've currently got a 'D' rating just after seven hours of racing. A lot of this has been 20-40 minute race lengths.

Man I just want that B for the trophy! I'm a clean racer but curious as to how long this is going to take me

E1545 currently.
Run longer races, strive to finish on the podium but above all be as clean as possible!
And this includes NOT blocking the racing line if a faster driver comes up quick behind you.

I got to B after 30 races. I just kept it very clean and avoided trouble at all costs.
I got out of the way if I thought the person behind didn't know how to brake. They
usually take themselves out at some point anyway ..👍.
I was picky about my choice of lobby. I did some GT3 races, but GTE seemed to have
the cleaner racers. Safety for now, race for position later when things have settled and
people have developed their rating :).

I go really wide in any run off area in the first corner or have an escape route planned for the first corner, am picky with the rooms I enter, and don't rush towards the first turn myself and am currently a C1494. Definitely not the fastest but I'm gunning for clean as can be. Can't wait to see how this all averages out after a few months or two and then the races should get very competitive as we've ironed out our driver's rating.

Another thing worth doing to get your safety rating up IMO is not setting a time in qualifying. Starting at the back, and letting the field get a bit of a head start, I find is the best way to observe and avoid the chaos that ensues in front of you!

Almost everyone is doing this now, grid of 16 two will scrub out out a few laps.
I play it both ways.
I'm comfortable enough now with my GT3 tune can look at the times to see if I can get on pole. If I know I'm not worthy in a certain lobby I'll hang back for the safety rating.

Another thing to mention is I'm apart of a discord and we organize racing as much as we can and then we know when we are in a room that all of us are really wanting to be as clean and fair as possible.

Joining such groups really helped me get better and we apply many unspoken rules of courtesy.

For qualifying we don't allow overtaking so we don't cause any unnecessary ruckus in that session and we rarely run a practice session as that's something you prepare for in solo so you're ready the day we race and jump right in for qualifying.

I think alot of us here want good clean racing and could form such a group. For me currently the discord I'm apart of is mostly located in the UK and they are 6 hours ahead of me so I don't get as much racing time as they do. Been looking for a dedicated group in the states so our timezones are closer.

Playing this morning before going to work the biggest takeway for me is to never enter races straight into the racing itself.

Starting from the back means you always gonna have problems. The best races i did a full qualify, so starting in 1st or 2nd is a good way to prevent the chaos on the first lap.

I started the day at U1500, like pretty much neutral.

Was having a good race at Spa with a 488 GT3, up to third and then a backmarker spins in front of me and completely trashes my car (damage was on). stumbling to the pits, for some reason they don´t repair anything, so since it´s undriveable i parked the car and retire.

U1472 after that.

Three races later i had three poles, three fastest laps, a win, a second and a fith.

F1484.

So that one bad race which was not my fault made more damage than three good races in a row.

I know it´s probably a nightmare to code this, but there´s got to be a way to detect better when you are doing stupid things and when you´re just being hit.

When the backmarker took me out i spun and faced the wrong way, getting warnings because of that.

I would love to see the examples of how many points you can win/lose in a 16 player lobby where everyone is in the same car and everybody is a U1500, just to have an idea...

After all your safety rating came up from U to F. Just focus on that and don't even think about the number for now. After everything is settled you will be able to race with similar players and have clean races. Then at some point the competiviness rating will propably be where it should. At this point it just waves up and down depending on the skill level of the opponents you defeat or lose to, no matter if you get rammed or not.

I saw an A2100 last night.
Yikes the game just released.
Either there's a few guys constantly playing one account or it ranks up faster than I'm thinking it does.

iRacing is that way, collisions are not assigned any fault and both cars get penalized. Without a human reviewing it, it's too difficult to assign blame and could potentially be exploited.

That being said, I got spun while going down a straight by a guy who was behind me, and I didn't get the driver standards warning popup, while he was forced to take a drive-through penalty. So maybe the game does assign some blame. Either way, the system works for iRacing and seems to be encouraging clean racing in most of the lobbies I've seen.

Doesn't work that well in lower licence bracket. You have to get out of the D license as fast as you can. It doesn't matter if you are finish last. Just avoid everyone and get out of there.

OK does anyone know of any issues currently with the CRL as i have just won a 8 lap race without making contact with anyone or anything. The achievement Results Are In, You're Clean! triggered however my licence Score has went down from E1525 to E1507 (Playing on XBOX ONE) just thaught I would mention this as i cant help feeling slightly cheated as i have spent lots of time and effort trying to avoid rammers and poor drivers only to be put back into my original position of racing with them again due to this potential bug

The number is skill so I'm surprised you lost it by winning.

I'm so desperate to move up toward B level...but still U. And luck just isn't going my way. People crashing in front of me and driving into me etc. Last night had to guys making contact at the race start...one guy spins out hits the wall and bounces back into my car...sigh...

I take extreme caution in the first corner. Holding a steady pace and always running wide to allow for those who aren't as sophisticated at the beginning. Also in regards to folks crashing in front of me... I stay aware of a driver the second I get behind someone. If they seem to be taking bad race lines, brake late or too early or too much, then I mentally prepare for them to lose control of their car because it's only a matter of time when all those indicators are going on before your very eyes. Instead of trailing them hard I size them up for a lap and see which corner I am superior in or wait for a straight and carry more momentum through the corner just prior to the straight. Then you are setting yourself up for cleaner passes and giving yourself more opportunity to avoid other's as they are going through the initial learning curve.

I think I've logged 4 to 5 hours online and I'm currently a C1507 and I jump in any room that uses the ranking system. So I've been in with minimum requirements as low as U100 and using those techniques don't get hit or hit others.

Still stuck at U and had a terrible online experience at Monza last night in a GT4 race.

Got 4 contact warnings and none of them were avoidable or my fault. At the first chicane I took it very easy to avoid any collision but was rammed from behind at full speed. Trying to overtake the a guy down the straights twice and both times I was next to him he just swerved into me to prevent me from overtaking him. Then lastly after I managed to get by him at the very next corner he just rammed into me at full speed again...

Probably got a worse clean score than what I started out with when I booted up the game for the first time...

Sucks badly as I don't want to quit the race if I see it is a bunch of morons in the lobby because then I get heavily penalized for my skill score...which strangely enough went up by 1 after finishing 6th.

My safety score keeps flitting between U and F, but I have an issue with how that seems to be measured in game. I am not a dirty driver, and always aim for clean racing, but I'm finding it very difficult to break out of the lower ratings because I seem to penalised for other players making contact with me. The game just recognises that as contact and that's that. So I try and get round the typical turn one carnage, get hit by some idiot, and that makes me unsafe?

I don't have time for organised racing with online leagues etc where the standard would be higher, so I have to contend with the public lobbies, but I shouldn't be penalised for the actions of others and this system was meant to get rid of that. I don't see it working as intended at the moment.
