COMPLEX STRING: Do you want it back again in GT5?

Do you want Complex String test track for GT5?

This was a great track for testing, sucked for racing. If they do bring it back, I would like for them to section it off so that you can choose specific sections to drive on, instead of the entire thing every time.

It would probably help if they stuck a bit of scenery in it but, tbh, it's a specific kind of practice track and it won't appeal to everyone anyway. I'm sure, if they're anything like me, the people that do use it will be too busy concentrating like hell to even notice the lack of eye candy.

I used to think the Complex String was awful, but only because I sucked at it :D

Still, I'd love to see it make a return, if only just to see if I could finally conquer it. I don't think it would be very good for full races but I think it would be great for head-to-heads.

I think its the best test course that humanity never build.

This was probably said numerous times, but it would be nice to do a race there for once.

I loved driving in the complex string with the RUF RGT. Even though the Nurburgring was just as fun, there was something special about the complex string. I remember when i played GT3 (which was my first ps2 game) and I found out about the complex string. It was like a challenge to finish it since it was the hardest track in the game, I really liked it and would love to have it back.

I will never turn another track down (unless its Hong Kong, that can sod off) but if the string does return I hope it will be a bit less 'sterile', add in bit more life around the track or have it online integrated.

So you can still select the track to test there straight from a normal menu but you will join the track as if its just another open road track day with other users also testing at the same time etc.

A big open circuit like that with only one car ever testing seems pretty odd.

I see that I already voted. I forgot all about it.

Yes, I would love to have the complex string in GT5. It was a challenge with all the different kind of corners, the blind corners, the elivations etc... .

I'm talking about the same track, aren't I?

It would be an interesting test course. FM3 has something similar.

I do wonder sometimes.. it has a little bit of everything.. straightaways, slow curves, fast curves, ups, downs.. the works. Kind of like the 'Ring. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me to learn that's why they removed it, was because the Nürburgring does all of the same things, and also serves as a good testbed of what a car is capable of. And, it's honestly more fun to drive than the String.

I would love to try out the new physics and the new cars on that track. It should make for some interesting reply videos and some hair pulling.

~> This thread went under my radar!! :dunce:

-> I think that this track symbolizes Driving Park, no track (in Driving Park) is more challenging enough than this one. Even I had a love/hate relationship also with the track, it was a frustrating track. But boring? Hell no, I find the Valencia (and most real-life) track boring.

-> Sure, the Complex String is not my 1st track I would like to return (that would be SSR11 and Grindelwald). But this track needs a good look back and return in GT5.

I loved the Complex String, please PD bring it back!, it's a great track to use when you've just brought a new car and want to see what it can do!

Haha... I totally forgot about this track. Then when I watched some Youtube vids, it all came back to me.

Do I want to see it in GT5? Sure. New physics plus the fact that I have a wheel now will make all the difference.

What is this Complex String?

It's a short large mouth crocodile with a rattlesnake tail eating small trees.

I don't really like this track because it has nothing to do with a real racing track
you see the corners they took 10-20 corners and put it into 1 track :D and then they got something like complex string

i always use to test my cars on that track!!!

Yeah me too, it’s a good way to test the handling characteristics of a car. The track has corners, and gradient changes that you find on most circuits. It would be good to have in GT5 after doing a tune up and getting the car settings right

Don't really see it as a full race track though

I always found it kind of melancholic but maybe it was the whole setting. And those 90 degree turns make abosolutely no sense to me.

Yeah, I agree. I see as something similar to the Paul Ricard Circuit where you can have various configurations. Different configurations for the CS (just so each lap isn't 4+ minutes) would make it more practical for testing.

Great for testing, not for racing.

 Thats certainly one way of putting it...

Anyway, more visual-aids.
EDIT ~ Found a better vid.

Holy crap, I forgot about those chicanes right at the start of the track! Checkout 0:15 onwards for the badness!

You either flew through 'em like a superstar, or you flew into the wall!

The Ring is not as predictable as Complex String. Left, right, left, right, left, right...

Is there any way to send this thread to PD? I don't think they'll inlcude Complex String, unless it's DLC, this could make them think it again! 👍

And another thing, I've found a webpage called the WayBack Machine, a web archive. If you put in GTPlanet and select 2003, it will take you back to that date (I wasn't even aware of this site, I was too young), and click on the video section of GT3, you can download some old videos, like, the F1 around Complex String! by jbschumacher, gotta check it out! .
