I'm sorry but can someone tell me how to make a composite photo? I'm using paint.net and it's almost the same as photoshop. :)

I think Moglet is winning hands down on the montage / detail front so far! Awesome work.

Damn - I want to go play now... but there is work to be done :grumpy:

Gentlemen,

Are there any web based ways to "photoshop" or do you have to get an advanced software for your computer.

Example: I use photobucket for my pictures, there is an edit area but multi layering seems difficult if not impossible. Assuming the above is the case, can you lay out two or more cars in your standard windows based software with something such as "paint"?

If these two thoughts are not options, can you give suggestions for an economical way to acheive what we are discussing in this thread?

Thanks for your feedback.

There is free software called gimp which should be able to do most of the layering functions needed to achieve composite shots.

http://www.gimp.org/

I'm not sure how easy it is to use compared to Photoshop etc. I don't know if there are any browser based programs with advanced functionality although you would have thought some boffin has come up with the idea.

So yeah try Gimp out and see what you come up with.

cheers.

How the cheesesticks did you get a reflection of one of the fiats in the others bumper bar? 💡

Photoshop 👍

That's a good attempt yakern, but the reflection needs to be distorted further to look more realistic.

cheers, when you say distortion do you mean like a fisheye lens distortion or like blur or indeed both?

I like the sound messing around with a bit of fisheye though, thanks for the input.

Doing these reflections puts me in mind of building cube maps for Unreal Tourney back in the day.
sort of...

I just think that the car needs to be a little more distorted to match the body lines of the car. Reflections on the side of a car won't look like a mirror perfect reflection, as the sides of cars aren't perfectly straight. They bend all over and the bodywork flares and dips in different areas.

agreed, I can see what you mean especially round bits like the door handles.

time for wizardry methinks.

[edit] so here it is with some distortion on the reflection, definately better but still not quite right [/edit]

Your distortion needs to be more devided and detailed. So big distortions look like the VW Bus has a big dent in the door.

Thought I would add my bit to this. Only played about with a couple so far but they are good fun so can see myself doing some more in the future.

Let me know what you think, they make decent wallpapers if you are running 1920 x 1080 screen.. or any screen of 16:9 format. Click for the full size versions.

Nice try there mate.

I was a pS'er in gt4 compositing multiple drift cars together. This does indeed sound interesting to try on here too, in travel mode.

Why o why haven't we got a garage to walk through...

Wow, a garage would be amazing. It would be like sneaking into Leno's house with a camera.

Nice for Microsoft paint

My first attempt. What do you think?

good edit for first try but next time think a little bit more about the composition maybe? The red car doesn't seem to be in the 'right' place to me. Keep it up!

Been a while since ive been on the planet properly and I finally got round to doing a shot myself its my first attempt so please be kind

Here's my first attempt at a composite image, I used an old version of Paint Shop Pro I've had for years and haven't used in a while so I'm a bit rusty but I think it turned out alright. Ford GT was the base image with the Ferrari and Zonda cut / paste onto it.
