The previous world record on Bathurst was a 1.47.6
After hours of being behind the time by a couple of seconds i done an extremely messy slidey lap with felt discusting but i beat the world record by 2 seconds. Nuff said....
This was on ps3 btw.

But its no fun to drive fast.
sliding in a so called sim should not result in a world record lap.

I totally agree with the sliding should not set records. I loved the physics in f1 2010 and these are fairly good also. If we could find the line between these two
I would play this for a long ,long time! Bring on the DLC!

I'm not putting down any world beating times, but my fastest laps are always on the ragged edge, with just a touch of sliding around some of the corners. Same as in Forza and GT5.

I haven't found that dramatic powerslides and drifting makes me faster in any game or in reality.. just as it should be.

As Luminis said, this is hardly a "confirmation". Shift 2 isn't some holy grail of racing games but some random internet screen name claiming their fastest lap was "messy" and "slidey" isn't really what I'd call "hard evidence". No offence meant, but unless you saved the replay of this incredibly lap, showing that you were at full opposite lock drifting the corners like a boss and still managed a world beating time... I don't think it means much.

Exactly. Plus, I'd like to know which car in S2U is capable of lapping Mount Panorama faster than an F1 car.

I'm not saying the cars aren't slippy, but thats what we have to work with in this game, it seems.

I drive a white version of your avatar on track, and I must say that I countersteer at any time that I go into a turn too quickly. That's what stiff rear suspension does to a car sometimes. Probably got my fastest lap times countersteering.

GT5's still there waiting if everyone hates this game so much, ya know.

you should be able to go faster in a game. In real life your life is in danger and a looooot of money if you crash the car, here you just press restart.

Using your logic... can you imagine what GTPlanet's GT5 section would be like?

What car did you use?

Have you ever read articles where real world drivers beat their own times in Forza and/or GT as well?

Have you ever bothered to read why this is?

This thread seems of little value. We already have plenty of complaint threads and with nothing new being discussed here that hasn't already been touched on, I'm going to close this thread.
