Some rankings show Controller times on top. I personally use my controller when I'm too lazy to install my Fanatec wheel in the living room. The times I set with both are extremely close. Though I usually scrape of a few tenths of my best time with the wheel.

Question is: Is it a good thing someone can go nr. 1 with a controller?

I think it's cool yes. But you still have an advantage playing with a wheel, because if you pass the selection you wont use a controller anymore. It's wheel only as far as I know, which could be a little hard to adapt for someone that played all the time on controller.

If you have an off brand wheel, it doesn't recognize it as a wheel, and calls it a controller, my wheel does that.

Samurai is probably the best player in the world on a controller so if you see him at the top with it, it is a controller :).

I'm sure you are correct, I don't know Samurai, all I'm saying is that some wheels don't register as wheels.

It's ok really. By the time they go to the finals they'll be disqualified since they have to drive with a wheel there.

They won't be disqualified. They just won't do very good. Well they may but chances are that they won't.

Don't be so sure. :) They can buy a wheel after this 8-5 challenge ends and practice. If a guy do well with a pad, certainly will with a wheel too. :)

I speek for myself. The first time i play with a whell (t500) — on a live event — i was the faster on the track (including top250 worldwide GT Academy 2011 players).

Nothing is black / white.
