Nurburgring GP Round 6 Stewards report
Stewards: Memto89, Jonnyb1990, ITZracing, Cobra75, FutureF1, chozza_32
Incident Report Penalties:
MTLA1984 – Late Submission of incident report (10 Second Penalty each race)
Evildragonxxl – Late Submission of incident report (10 Second Penalty each race)
Octimuscrime1 – Failure to Submit incident report (10 Second Penalty each race)
Bencrow- – Failure to Submit incident report (10 Second Penalty each race)
Race 1
Lap 1 – ItzRacing – Santu929 – Racing Incident
Verdict: NFA
While damage was caused to both cars and it could be argued that ItzRacing turned in, there was some understeer from Santu929 and both drivers did make the effort to avoid contact. Also the fact that ItzRacing chose to make a passing attempt on the outside instead of diving up the inside and avoiding the increased likelihood of a major incident.
Lap 4 – Santu929 – MTLA1984 – Disconnect
Verdict: NFA
Santu loses acceleration of his car before disconnecting and MTLA1984 runs into the back of him in the process, damaging his car.
Race 2
Lap 1 – Killing-Heidi – Santu929 – Racing Incident
Verdict: +90 Second Penalty – Killing-Heidi
The penalty goes to Killing-Heidi because he did weave from side to side on the approach to turn 1 which forces Santu into the grass, causing the incident at turn 1.
Lap 2 – Santu929 – Pit Exit Infringement
Verdict: 30 Second Penalty
Race 3
Lap 1 – Octimuscrime1 – Glen-Alz-81 – Avoidable Contact
Verdict: Driving Standards Warning (2/3) / 90 Second Penalty
This move was completely unacceptable. There would have been no contact whatsoever if Octimuscrime continued to brake into the corner and take the apex properly. Instead Octimus decides to release the brakes and drive across the grass and into the side of GlenAlz81, causing damage to his car. There was no need to make a late overtaking manoeuvre in such an aggressive manner and this incident should have never happened.
Lap 1 – Octimuscrime1 – ItzRacing – Avoidable Contact
Verdict: Written Warning
There was less than half a car width between the car of ItzRacing and the kerb. Octimus has decided to force his way in and make contact and shovel ItzRacing out of the way to take the position. No time penalty or DSW was given as there was no damage or a significant loss of time, drivers should be reminded that all passes should be made without making contact. Rules state that a move can only be made when the following driver has the nose of the car in front of the rear axle of the car in front.
Lap 3 – Octimuscrime – ItzRacing – Avoidable Contact
Verdict: Driving Standards Warning (3/3) / +90 Second Penalty
ItzRacing leaves the room for an overtaking move to be made, then Octimuscrime comes up underneath ItzRacing and forces him off the track, dropping to the rear of field. In my opinion Octimuscrime had the opportunity to leave a lot more room for both drivers to safely take the corner without incident.
Lap 8 – Octimuscrime1 – Memto89 – Racing Incident
Verdict: NFA
While Memto did get a run on Octimus, from the replay it does appear that Octimus is taking a normal line and wasn’t aware of Memto trying to pull alongside until Memto makes contact, which Octimus then moves left to leave racing room.
Lap 9 – Octimuscrime1 – Memto89 – Avoidable Contact
Verdict: 90 Second Penalty
As displayed throughout the race, octimus repeatedly drifts the car through corners, taking up more than one line, after doing this with memto round the outside he then loses the back end, over corrects and knocks memto off track resulting in a spin. This would have been avoided if he would give respect to other drivers around him and kept control of his car.
Note to all drivers:
Following this round it has become clear that there is a lack of driving standards in some instances and as a result this message is going out to every driver in the series as a reminder to avoid further incidents for the remainder of the series.
1: All drivers are warned that to be alert of their surroundings entering turn 1 at the start of the race and not to change direction unless there are no cars closely following. Proximity sensors can be turned on to help drivers avoid any incidents
2: All drivers should be taking more care under braking into turn 1. Braking extremely late and making desperate dives down the inside that result in damage to other cars will not be tolerated anymore.
3: When drivers are in an exchange for position with another driver, it is expected that both drivers give room to race each other cleanly without forcing each other off the track. It is more than possible for drivers to race each other cleanly and have an exciting race, without pushing others of the track and ruining their race.
4: Rules and regulations will be updated on the CORE website by the next round and it is requested that ALL drivers read the rules so that they understand. Series specific rules will also be added to the OP but will be covered on the website.
5: All incident reports must be submitted within 48 hours of the completion of each round. Failure to submit an incident report /Failure to submit a complete report WILL result in a penalties being handed out. Getting footage of incidents is an exhaustive process for stewards as it is and if they then have to sift through hours of racing footage, it only adds to that workload. This also considerably delays the release of results which most people are eagerly waiting for.
The team at CORE would like to remind everyone that we want to provide good clean racing and the stewarding is designed to give feedback on how people can improve their driving. It will also help if everyone races together more often than just on race day to improve trust between drivers.
