a other rendering of the c7

2014-corvette-stingray-carscoop-3.jpg

Raise the grille and headlights and I'll be all on it.

Looks like the '70s, which I like, but the front is butt ugly. Needs to be raised or something.

Very interesting. The car looks significantly longer than the current car, but that may just be the photographs. Looks like it still has a targa top, which I wasn't sure if they were doing or not.

The front seems to have a bit of F430/Mitsubishi Eclipse to it, though that could just be the cover.

I like it overall, though the back might take some time to get used to, since it reminds me (well, probably only me) of this:

You can definitely see the square/rectangular lights under the cover, they look very sharp with no rounded edges to me.

theres too much camo in those pics to tell anything besides its a vette. from the fenders, to doors, hell even the rear hatch is fully camo'ed out. Its also missing the front splitter (front is higher than sideskirts)

I think with the spy shots and renders are good guesses and close. You can see the more chiselled body and squarer lights (see camaro style tail lights through netting) ugly quad exhausts, not as wide as some renders show, and like the 'viper' i hint of europe. Front is a little covered but no bulges, maybe a vent or two.

This reminds me of the battle of Evo vs STi, both similar and soft shape until this gen where STi went softer (Viper) and the EVO went Sharper with the meaner front end and angled body (Corvette)

I hope it doesn't have a split window in the rear, ugghhhh...
I hope it does have a split window, I wish they make it look like a modern version of the '63 Vette.

I wish they'd move away from the same basic design they've had since 1984. It's just getting old now.
They should, I got sick of that look with C5. They are keep a tight lid on the any info/look on the C7 from getting out and if they just make it a updated look of the current one, it would just look lame.

I agree with this entire statement. Modern '63 vette would be great. Similar to what dodge did in making a modern challenger, or ford with a modern gt40. Also, sharper angles is very little difference from an older design, and there really isn't that much that can be changed performance wise from a C6. So I'm not sure where they are trying to go with this

Eww, that doesn't seem very 'Vette-like. it needs round taillamps, be they single or dual.
That is a huge front overhang. Do not like! [it might be the camo exaggerating it]
Agreed, hopefully that's the camo.

Overall, the proportions look nice, save for the long front overhang. Lets hope it's affordable and fun to drive!

I must be the only one to like the long front overhang, it gives the car a far more balanced look than if the wheels were right at the extreme front. Not to mention that a longer and lower nose would improve aerodynamics too.

It's not that a long front overhang is bad, it's just that that one is way too long. Cut it in length by 30 or 40 percent, then it'll look really good.

No it still wouldn't look really good. That whole layout is quite bland. It needs more curves I think.

I'm reserving judgement on the overall design, since we can't see it. I hope they don't ruin it by giving it really busy styling. I prefer a simple, elegant design to a fiddly one.

I'm generally the same way but it still has to have an agressive look to it.

*insert peripheral port rotary sound clip here*

I'm sorry, what were you saying?

Haha I was thinking the same thing. There is absolutely nothing more menacing than a 13b-pp idling at 1500-2000rpm. No massive cam V8 even comes close. You really have to hear it in person to understand how violent a PP sounds. Unlike a cammed piston engine that sounds uneven and low-key when it's loping, a well tuned PP has this disturbingly steady, pulsing, pounding rhythm.

I wouldn't mind if it didn't look too different from the C6. The Corvette is nice looking. Porsche has gotten away with it forever and the 911 doesn't even look that great (bar 996).

Modern '63 vette would be great. Similar to what dodge did in making a modern challenger, or ford with a modern gt40.
That however would kill the C7 for me forever, and I'd basically be waiting for the C8 before I could like the Corvette again. Retro must die.
