Looks SO much better in this color:

I have been staring at the pics of this C7 ZO6 all day. Just a truly remarkable piece of engineering. Very impressed.

I agree. Not a huge fan of yellow but at least it is not white and yes the design does look really awesome!! With all the colors in the world I just cant comprehend white vehicles at all. For those confused, there are other pics out there showing a white ZO6.
Because it's a color that goes with anything & everything, & is the cleanest way of displaying body lines since it is the "absence" of color. The yellow works well though, since it's a bright color & contrasts well with the large amount of black accents/parts.

Bias aside, white is probably the best color you can get on a vehicle. Like McLaren said, it looks good on anything.

The interior is still mediocre at best and the exterior looks like it's trying to be a Hot Wheels car, but the engine is pretty impressive and I'm sure it will be really quick around a track. I'm a little disappointed it isn't a double clutch automatic though, although I'm the the torque converter one they are offering will be rather good. I also like how everyone one Jalopnik seems to think the world is ending because GM's offering an automatic, it amuses me.

I don't think the interior is mediocre, the C7 interior is light years better than the C6 in my opinion. I also disagree about the exterior looking hotwheels, I think they did a great job on the styling and it's fully functional. As far as the the dual clutch transmission they stated the 8 speed auto shifts faster than the Porsche 911 DCT. I have faith in it.

Compared to the cars it will be going up against and it's estimated price bracket, the interior is pretty mediocre. It's not bad, but nothing stands out with it and it's still looks like it contains that horrid plastic GM loved to put in their cars.

And styling is pretty subject, I think it looks way over the top. Even if it is functional it comes across like it's a 7 year old's idea of what an aero package should look like. Many of the Z06's rivals have similar aero packages and don't look overdone.

As for the transmission, I'll be skeptical until I actually see it shift faster than the 911's DCT. I'm sure it will be fast, but there's still limitation with a torque converter opposed to a double clutch.

I disagree with white being the best color to show off body lines, I feel it hides them in some cases. You want a moderately saturated color (like the yellow on the concept) to best show the car.

While the body kit is a little over the top, I'm sure it's effective. The C7R is pure sex. I'm glad they went with an auto rather than a DSG. If their auto is better than the competition's DSG (I'm confident it will be) then good job GM. This new Corvette is something special. I wouldn't be surprised if this thing is only slightly off the pace of the Porsche 918 at any track, anywhere. These things are going to rule the highways too...but that's not something we can talk about here. :)

2 key points I picked up on. The clear part of the spoiler is adjustable for your preferred downforce and they want to price the top spec Z07 package under $100k.

Alright there's some disparity in opinions on the design that I'd like to discuss. @Joey D, @Eunos_Cosmo, and some others including myself say it's a bit much.

I'd like to draw attention to a couple things.

There are seven, count em, creases on the hood between the headlights.

What are those little bumps on the leading lower edge of the nose? What purpose do they serve in the aesthetics of the car?

We've got three black highlighted scoops and ducts along the side of the car along with the not so subtle vents on the hood and rear diffuser. The grille's hexagon pattern draws attention, as does the aero in front of the front wheels.

I feel like every little piece of the car from the headlights to the spoiler is calling attention to itself.

Personally I think it could be a great design if they would just take it down a notch. I'm interested to hear opinions.

And which 911 would that be exactly? The regular Carrera S shifts somewhere around 100+/- milliseconds whilst the GT3 & Turbo are geared to be around 85-90 milliseconds, possibly less in the Sport modes.

For Chevrolet to claim that the auto shifts faster than the Porsche DCT would it put it on par with Ferrari & Lamborghini's units, & I frankly don't believe that.

I'm happy to hear an optioned out one will be sub $100k

Oh my god, I've been head over heels with this car..... I need to scratch the idea of a C7 and save my monies even more now for a Z06...

Dude me and you both. I haven't wanted a car so bad like this in awhile...

I don't usually get caught up in the specifics of a design, if I see a car that I think looks good then I usually like it. That being said every *new* picture I see of it makes me want it even more. If I had only one issue I had with the design even though it's functional is how the front splitter extends out infront of the fender... if that made sense. The more I look at it now the more I like it, nevermind. :P

I have to admit I'm also having a hard time believing that this Auto will take down Porsche's PDK in shifts without a dual clutch. But, by all means, surprise me GM. :)

First i hoped the new C-7R wouldn't be yellow. But now that i have seen the result. Oh boy...oh boy oh boy what a stunningly sexy car. The new red Tudor USSC numberplates suit it allot better then the green ALMS ones.

I can't wait to see it at the 24hrs of Daytona compete against the others.

I'm just quoting what I read.
The Z06's eight-speed is nine pounds lighter than the six-speed automatic in the Stingray thanks to the use of aluminum and magnesium, and Chevy claims that it can crack off shifts under wide-open throttle quicker than the PDK dual-clutch automatic in the Porsche 911.

Quit your eye-rolling. GM built a new eight-speed automatic for the Corvette Z06 in-house. The transmission actually delivers shifts that are quicker than those served up by the mighty PDK in the Porsche 911.Read more: http://www.roadandtrack.com/go/first-looks/2015-chevrolet-corvette-stingray-z06#ixzz2qNNXuJIH

I rather like the intense design. Makes it standout.
I agree, I like the aggressive design. If someone wants a more subtle C7 well then they can buy the regular baseline C7. The ZO6 is made to stand out above the base version C7. This C7 Z06 truly does and I love it. :)

Same here. If I lived in a southern climate and had the money, this is what I would be driving.

I am still trying to figure out exactly how the intake vent works above the rear quarter panels. In some pics it is open, at other angles it looks closed. Are there any better pics of this intake vent? Almost looks adjustable. Sometimes up, sometimes down?

Watch the vid I posted a few posts above, he talks about that. Its almost like a cover that channels in more air.
And I completely agree with you on the styling on the Z.

Excellent video. Answered all my questions and now I am even more in love with this car.:bowdown:

I just spent the past few hours at work hand wrapping 8L90 clutch housings and shipping them off. Unlike the Ford 6R140 line I was used to work on, we are treating these parts ridiculously different. I almost feel like I'm working at AMG or something. We were in a meeting the other day with some GM bigwigs over this new transmission. From what I can tell, you can't start laughing at their statements about the quickness of the shifts, they've got some incredibly high standards for this new transmission. I'm hearing it being as good if not better than the ZF8 speed that everyone regards as the current best torque converter auto's. We're just going to have to wait before people start bashing on a transmission that they haven't even experienced just yet.

It looks to me like a wheel arch vent. The sort that's used in racing to lower air pressure the the wheel well, which is meant to increase downforce. May just be a dummy vent like those found on the front arches of the TVR Sagaris
