They're classics, been around forever. The Z06 is only a few thousandths of a second slower than a GTS, if properly driven.

The newest Viper and Vette, an interesting comparo. The Vette has the street cred of being fast, a good handling car, and very reliable.
The Viper, with the exception of the newest model has a reputation for being a brute. And Dodge has been fighting handling gremlins from the beginning. The car likes to swap ends. Some of the testers from R & T say it has the most unpredictable handling since the early 911 Porsche.
Over the years Porsche has fixed the vile handling of the 911, Dodge will do the same. The Viper is awesome, If you can afford it. It is also the car to test yourself in. (On the track only, please)
Comparing the Vette to the Viper Is like comparing Mike Tyson to Muhammad Ali. The Viper is Tyson, Big, Brutish, and as subtle as brick thru a picture window. The Vette is the "standard" bearer since 1956. The first few years (1953-1955) the Vette was ridiculed. It almost became a part of history, instead of a maker of it in 1954 when Chevy considered cancelling production.
Give the Viper a chance. When it is fully sorted out it will be the king of the heap. It is already clawing its way there.

Vettes are too heavy and handle like **** at faster speeds. Vipers are lighter and even faster than the Vette.

i dont agree. strap into a V8 GT mustang, and you will definately think it has a lot of power and style, for its price.
the only way i can agree with your statement, is if u are refering to the times when emmissions first started or if u are refering to the V6 models.
and by the way, what muscle cars are "all about" is a fast car that is affordable. thats part of the big muscle car boom of the 60s and 70s: they were affordable cars with big engines and power.
to comment on this poll, though, id have to choose the corvette. the older corvettes have a lot of style, and i enjoy watching the C5R's race in ALMS.
Vipers are pretty slick too, but as many people have mentioned before, the viper is 30 grand more and has more displacement, so its not exactly a fair comparison. i would have to go with the corvette based on style and history alone.
in GT3, i bought the vette and viper back to back, because they are awesome cars.

depends what vette your talking about. I heard the z06 does 0-60mph in just under 4 seconds (3.9) and i know the viper does it in 3.8...most ppl have it listed at 4.0 but i saw it on TV tested stock, and they clocked a 3.8, also supercars.net has the 2002 Dodge Viper GTS ACR listed its 0-60 is 3.8
